    • Good sun shade, shipped wrong color
We ordered two 10x13 beige Sunlax shades for our deck. The ones we received were cream-colored (nearly white). We suspect this unexpected color was due to a packing/shipping error, and (probably) not to inaccurate color representation in the Sunlax ad on Amazon. We kept one shade and returned the other. The shade we kept seemed well made, and was easy to install. Sunlax includes enough nylon ropes for about a 6-7' tie at each corner. We attached these ropes to the corner D-rings using rolling hitch knots (aka anchor hitches) so they would hold without slipping. The shade material provides reasonable shade in full sunlight, although you can still feel the warmth when the sun angle is high. During a light rain the water drained through adequately and the shade did not sag significantly. (We plan to take it down if heavy rain is predicted, to avoid heavy water buildup that could pull out the tie-down hooks.) The curved sides leave a 10-12" inward gap at each center point, which is closer to 10% of the side dimension than the 3-5% value mentioned in the ad. Possibly these gaps could be reduced by tightening the corner ropes, but we did not want to stress our tie-downs any further. One last note: after we ordered these shades from Amazon, we found them on sale directly from sunlaxoutdoor.com for about 40% less (not including shipping). ... show more

    • Great, affordable solution for our backyard patio
We've wanted some kind of shade solution for our small backyard patio area for a long time and this was the perfect thing for us. Let me be clear that this shade does not block 100% of the sun and it's not waterproof, but neither of those were a requirement for us. It acts sort of like a really strong diffuser for the sun, which we actually really like. It cuts the harshness of the sun but still allows a lot of light through. We purchased the hardware kit from the same seller and I highly recommend that. I price-checked all the individual pieces at the hardware store, and it's significantly cheaper to buy from them. For someone who's somewhat competent with a drill, you can have this installed in about a half hour. Would definitely purchase again! ... show more

The item is a good, solid material. The fabric is heavy and it does a great job shielding the sun. The stitching seems sturdy. The down falls: it comes without any hardware but does come with 4 pieces of rope to tie it to the hardware you have to buy separately. During a hard rain…the sail got very heavy and bent over the 4 poles I attached in between two EZ up/pop up canopies. I zip tied the poles to the frames of the two canopies to make a shaded area between the two canopies. It worked beautifully until the rain came. The sail became saturated and bent the poles. The fabric sagged but it was fairly water repellent. I think it it was permanently mounted to walls, it would be great. There are pros and cons. I think it I had an area where I was able to permanently attach it to and had all the proper hardware…it would be great for the price. ... show more

I thought rain water was going to penetrate the sun shade and just filter through, however, it created a puddle in the middle after a rainy night. I would suggest tilting it so the water flows and doesn’t stay on the top.

Hi. First off not water proof but that was expected with a mesh sun sail Had an issues with one. They replied quickly and stood behind product I have the sand color they look great and shade my car on the side of the house. Note. When raining they will start to sag and stretch a bit. Tighten them up a few turns while still soaked by the rain. Not too tight. They will snap back in perfect shape as they dry Would recommend product i have 3 8x12 rectangle Seller again is great ... show more

It works best in a rectangle shape as opposed to 2 triangles. It will stretch out after a few days when it is hung, do all corners will need adjusting. It is light and seems to hold up to the wind very well. Ours has been up for a couple of weeks and it has lowered the temps on our patio by at least 10 degrees. ... show more
