I have five other Staub pans and love them all, but I’m quite disappointed in this one. I fear Staub has become too popular and is letting quality slip. The finish on this pan is slightly pitted and has a really annoying bump. I didn’t think it would bother me when I first saw it. The bump is like a pencil point in the bottom of the pan. I tried cooking in the pan tonight, and it drove me nuts. I was sautéing onions, and each time my wooden spoon hit the bump, the pan went sliding across my glass cooktop. It almost flew off the stove the first time I hit it. I’ll admit to overly zealous stirring, but this pan is poorly manufactured. It’s disappointing. I love my old Staub pans and have bought many of them for my nieces and sisters, who also love them. I hope this is just a one off production mistake, but given the mass marketing I’ve seen from them this Christmas season, I fear Staub is joining their competitors in the quantity-over-quality club.

***UPDATE 5/25/19: The company replaced this under the one-year warranty. Just found it on my front porch. Shoppers please note: the current price is now $110 more than the $150 I paid in February (through MMP Living not Chefs Corner) so I’m hoping this time I received a top quality item. Looks gorgeous—hope it works as well as it looks!*** Extremely expensive to last only through 2 uses (it’s just two of us so I hadn’t used it much yet but planned to this summer when we have more guests), when I expected a few decades of use. I rated it 5 stars initially on 4/6/19 but now I have to revise my view and recommend against this product as of 5/1/19. I’ve never owned Staub before and was intrigued by the coated cast iron, and good reviews. Now I guess it’s back to using my sturdy but not non-stick “LC” brand, and scraping and breaking out the barkeeper’s friend—or following the instructions for seasoning traditional cast iron found on America’s Test Kitchen website. I so wanted this Staub product to live up to its reputation. After all that’s what I based my buying decision on. Perhaps mine was just faulty? Or a “second”? I wonder because I paid $149.99 just 3 months ago and the price is about 35% more now. If it wasn’t a first-quality item, that detail wasn’t disclosed. If it was—something is way off.

This is the most expensive pan I own and also the worst. Everything sticks to it, no matter what level of heat or what type of shortening I use. I cook a lot and have several other pans, and i have no such issues with any of them (including stainless steel). I emailed Staub twice. They didn’t reply the first time. The second time they offered to inspect the pan if I shipped it back to them at my own expense. Don’t waste your money.

I love this pan! I have several Staub pieces and love the quality and ease of use and clean up. This Braiser is just the right size. It is 3.5 Quart, and the bottom of the pan is a flat 10", and curves out and up around the sides to 12" at the top rim and 2.5" high. It has a wonderful doomed glass lid that allows you to see what's going on inside. It is extremely easy to clean. I much prefer the textured black matte finish on the inside. Compared to Le Creuset or Lodge with the creamy-colored interiors, the black matte finish cleans much easier with no sticking, and no staining. With the Le Creuset and Lodge, you get sticking and staining with the very first use. Honestly, I don't see anything negative about this pan. I am prepared to pay a little more for the exceptional quality and usability of Staub; it will last a lifetime.

I bought this as a gift after using one that belongs to another friend. It's gorgeous, and I love the lid ... love that it's clear (wish my Le Creuset ones were) and love that the lid is squared off instead of rounded. Expensive, but cooks really well and will last forever.

I am amazed and in love with STAUB Braiser with Glass Lid, 3.5-Qt, Cherry . I use other high end cast iron. So I was skeptical but willing to try it.....I love it. I made ribeye steaks and they had a wonderful crust....it was easy to clean and cooked my ribeye perfectly. Today I made fish Florentine in the STAUB Braiser with Glass Lid, 3.5-Qt, Cherry. It browned my fish perfectly without sticking and I was able to make my sauce/spinach....no issues with sticking or scorching from hot spots..... .it was amazing

I am somewhat of a fan of cookware. I have just about everything, and tried just about everything, and settled on enameled cast iron as the best overall way to cook food. In that grouping of enameled cast iron, this one, to me, tops them all. And just try to find one with a heavy glass lid like this! This is the top of the line of the top of the line. And this one cleans up easier than the rest. Just soak it in water or soapy water for awhile, and it will clean right up with a nylon brush designed for cleaning pots and pans. The real game changer with enameled cast iron is that these will last you your lifetime, and the lifetime of those they are passed down to. But, if you like buying stuff over and over and over again, buy the "wonder" non-stick stuff attached to aluminum that you will be replacing every few years.
