I bought a Tesla and wanted to use my existing dryer outlet since it was right next to garage. This literally plugs right in and it's good to go. I can charge my car and when I need to use the dryer it automatically transfers the power and when the dryer cycle is done it goes right back to charging the car. It's totally silent and barely gets warm. A+ Update: I have been using this daily for the past 6 months to charge my Tesla. I have almost 4000kwh on it now. Not once has it given me a single issue. Awesome product!

What a great device. I am able to use a level 2 charger for my PHEV without adding a second 220 circuit. It was easy to install and so far working great.

So far so good. Kia dealer didn’t tell us that we aren’t supposed to use the level 1 charger that the car (Kia sportage plug in hybrid) came with for regular charging. Had to find that out by reading the manual. Don’t have an extra 220 outlet for a level 2, so tried the split volt system. Works great by sharing the 30 amp dryer plug with the EV charger. The system transitions between dryer and car as described. Only 3 days in but seems great. Not cheap but so convenient if you don’t have enough household juice to add a new 220-240 plug. And way less cost than paying an electrician thousands of $$ to add another plug. Takes about 2 hours for a full charge.

This saved me thousands in upgrading electrical box. I already had 220 line installed for my dryer. I had electrician wire outlet from this splitter to an outdoor outlet that I plug my car in. It doubles the speed of my charge and I never have to use a charging station unless I travel far from home 😊

I needed a three-prong splitter for the 30 Amp dryer outlet in my garage. Splitvolt had the best reviews, and has the option for three-prong outlets. It was simple to hang on the wall in my garage. It works exactly as described and disables the EV outlet when the dryer is on. This model is quiet, no hum or vibration during EV charging. The cords are heavy duty and stays cool during the dryer cycle or the EV charger. I opted to purchase the three-prong split volt charging cord too. Works great, I am able to fill up my Ioniq-5 easily going from 30% to 90% overnight.

The auto switch works fine when the load is placed on either the dryer or the EV port. My only complaint is the constant low volume chatter sound when the dryer port is being operated. Whether the dryer drum is turning or not, the Splitvolt has a chattering sound, if the dryer is turned on. (Control panel on, drum not turning.) Once the drum and heater are turned on, the Splitvolt can be heard switching the relay to the dryer port and the EV LED extinguishes. (But the chatter can still be heard) The EV port is the default mode if there is no load on either port. (Also, no chatter in this mode) The Dryer port has priority if there is a load request detected on both ports. Both ports cannot be operated at the same time, the typical dryer circuit would not handle the wattage demand. This is normal and the reason you would use this switch box. When the dryer is turned off, it switches back to the EV port. Dryer power is not displayed in Splitvolt display when running, only the EV power is shown when it is running. If this low volume chatter is normal, there should be an explanation in the manual. If I'm contacted with an explanation, I'll update this review.
