Great EV charger for using electric dryer power outlet
I leased our first electric vehicle in May 2021 -- a KIA Niro EV -- and purchased the Splitvolt charger to serve as a Level 2 charger until I decided whether to get a permanent EV charger installed in our garage. Our home was built for natural gas and electric dryer connections, and we are using gas, so the 30A NEMA 14-30 electrical receptacle was not in use. After doing quite a bit of research, I decided to purchase the Splitvolt 24A charger, and I have had absolutely no regrets. The unit is very well made, and I've never had any issues with it. After plugging in, the Niro EV starts charging within a few seconds. The car indicates the charging current is usually 5.3 kW or 5.4 kW (within 2%-80% state of charge), so the Splitvolt charger is delivering the full 24A. The Niro EV has a 64 kWh battery and takes about 10 hours to charge from 5% to 90% SOC. Our laundry room is next to the garage, so I also purchased a 30-ft heavy duty NEMA 14-30 M/F extension cord to run from the dryer outlet to the front of the garage. I then plug in the Splitvolt charger to that. I've only been charging once a week, so I just roll up the extension cord and put it in the laundry room after each charging session. I do have to leave the laundry room door ajar for the cord to get out to the garage, but I charge at night (which I would do anyway) so there isn't so much heat coming into the laundry room and house (we live in southern Louisiana). I thought for sure I would have purchased a wall charger by now due to the (expected) aggravation of my current charging solution, but it will cost $1,500 for an electrician to install a 50A outlet in the garage. On top of that, the wall charger will cost $700. My poor man's solution with the Splitvolt charger and extension cord (for less than $400 total) has been working very well, and it's not nearly as aggravating as I expected to unroll and roll up the heavy extension cord for each charging session. I will probably end up getting a wall charger, but I'm in no rush. ... show more

No more Relying on Public Chargers!!

I recently purchased the Splitvolt NEMA 14-30 Level 2 Portable EV Charger for my electric vehicle, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. This charger is a game-changer for me, providing fast and efficient charging for my EV. The 24 Amp charging capability, along with the 220-240 Volt power supply, ensures that my vehicle charges quickly, allowing me to get back on the road in no time. The 26ft cable length gives me the flexibility to charge my car comfortably, even when the charging station is a bit further away. The portability of this charger is also a huge plus. I can easily take it with me wherever I go, whether it's on a road trip or simply visiting a friend's house. The durability and quality of the construction give me confidence that this charger will last for a long time. Overall, the Splitvolt NEMA 14-30 Level 2 Portable EV Charger has exceeded my expectations. It's a reliable, efficient, and convenient charging solution that I highly recommend to any electric vehicle owner looking for a top-notch charging experience. ... show more

14-30 plug & long cord, Score!
Color: NEMA 14-30-02
I have a 14-30 dryer plug at our home we did not use and I didn't want to bother with having an electrician come through, this charger is perfect! I have been using this charger for a few weeks now and it's been great. I had another ev charger and it would get extremely hot, this one is much better. I am happy with this product. The longer cord version is a must, our last charger was about 15' and would just reach our EV, this one has a plenty of cord to spare. ... show more

Affordable and fast EV charger
This is a great Level 2 charger for people who just need fast EV charging. Works great with my Honda Clarity and looks clean mounted on the wall. The only issue is the cord length, which is just enough to get from the outlet to the car -- it'd be great if Splitvolt can offer different cord lengths. Still recommended. ... show more

Worked for the 2023 Polestar 2
Color: NEMA 14-30-01
I have an EV outlet for my parking spot in my apartment building with this exact set of shapes to the prongs on the power outlet end of the charger. It worked perfectly for the Polestar 2 and was easy plug n play.

Great option if you only have a standard Dryer outlet to charge EV
Color: NEMA 14-30-02
I use this in an apartment and I only have a standard dryer outlet so I needed something that would charge EV faster than a standard outlet. With this I can get a full charge to my EV overnight. **update** - Charger worked great for 13 months then completely dead. I expected this was not a portable and Disposable charger. Skip this if you want quality item that will last. It was good while it worked and it was a simple solution but it’s really irritating it died 30 days after the warranty expires. ... show more

Perfect charger to work with SplitVolt splitter switch for use with dryer outlets
Color: NEMA 14-30-02
Since my EV did not come with a portable Level 2 charger, I bought this to work with the SplitVolt splitter switch I bought to use with my home's existing garage dryer outlet. For safety, I had an electrician change my old-style ungrounded 3 prong receptacle to a grounded 4 prong receptacle, and bought the switch and charger equipped with grounded 4 prong connections. The products work great together, and the 24 amps supplied via the dryer outlet are more than enough to charge my EV overnight. The two products together are an inexpensive and quick solution for charging your EV at home, especially if you have a dryer already in or near your home's garage. ... show more
