Over the years, I’ve owned a few self watering planting containers called Farm Daddy, that require a constant supply of water to the container. These things are great and I will always have two or three of them. However, I live in Florida and the summer heat has destroyed at least a dozen of the hoses I’ve used. Most only have a burst strength of 150 psi, so they don’t ever last. While pondering a solution on Amazon, I ran across the Specilite 5/8” garden hose, which boasted a burst strength of 600 psi, as well as being kink free. So I took a leap of faith and ordered two of the hoses, expecting to be disappointed for the umpteenth time. This week has brought record heat to Florida and I’m happy to report that the Specilite hoses are performing far beyond my expectations. They don’t even swell up in the heat like every other hose I’ve ever owned. If you’re looking for a hose that outperforms it’s competition, consider these.

I use this product as a way to put out grass fires caused by drivers flipping cigarettes out their windows and sometimes I can hold off the fire until the fire dept arrives. Have good hoses saves property and lives. Two were delivered to back door; the driver got off the driveway and carried to package all the way around the house WHERE THERE IS NO DOOR and just left a heavy package for me to find three days later.

This is not kink free and it’s got some heft to it. If it’s true rubber it’s gonna be heavy. I have a rubber hose I bought about 10 years ago and it’s still providing leak free service but it’s much thicker than this hose. Only time will tell if this hose is the same quality. Out of the box this hose is very kinky because of the way it’s twisted to form a tight package for shipping. To get it unkinked you have to twist it several times in the opposite direction. It’s a little heavy like most hoses but I find that encouraging as it speaks to the quality of the the materials. Compared to my other rubber hose it’s lighter and more close in circumference to a regular size hose. Once you get the kinks out and hook it up it doesn’t leak and performs nicely. Time will tell about longevity. If I can remember, I I will follow up with a review later on about how it holds up. I paired it with Gorilla Easy Connect brass garden hose quick connect fittings bought here on Amazon. Use the tape they provide to wrap the threads of your male connections. Yes I know the tape is used for air hoses but it works great for water hoses too. I liked this one enough to buy a 2nd, the 100 foot.

The hose is 3/4" hose, but not very strong in relation to other hoses equal in class. The hose on inlet side of pump folds inward under pressure. Other heavy duty hoses I've purchased in past hold up under pressure.
