Practical alternative to wall-mount box

We have three Gardena Hose boxes at our home as my wife loves to garden but flowers and shrubs etc at the front would mean dragging the hoses from the existing boxes a long way which is what my wife does not want to do so this seemed like the perfect solution being able to mount it off the ground a little way but didn't need a wall for installation. In addition if it needs to be moved I'd think it would be fairly easy unlike a wall=mounted one which needs to be in the right place from the start. It was easy to assemble, just requiring the plastic covers to be attached to the bottom and the stake which the hose box sits on has a coarse thread with a bar to insert in the stake to twist the stake into the ground. All pretty straight forward really. Only slight difficulty is attaching two small screws on either side of the metal tube to the stake which requires the tube to be aligned perfectly with the stake to insert the screws. I think I managed it as I was able to tighten them fully but full disclosure here I'm not sure if they went in the holes or just another part of the stake. I guess you could put a mark on the ground to show where to align the holes but I'm used to working with fiddly things. Of course Gardena could have designed it a little differently e.g. by adding raised channels on the tube and stake so it would only fit one way. It works fine and is typical Gardena great quality. It is easy enough to pull out the hose and rewind it and it works well although sometimes the retraction needs a little hand to start and then it's fine. The hose is not the biggest one but it works just fine for all our residential needs and has the advantage of being light weight. There are all the required fittings included for the leader hose including different sized adaptors for the faucet so it should be able to be fitted to any faucet I would think and certainly ours was not a problem. Note some people do have the odd issue with leakage at the faucet fitting but I've not had that issue. For those not familiar with the system the quick-fit connectors are super easy to use and even though plastic are plenty sturdy. My only gripe is the nozzle which is basic and cheap but it gets you going but ours never lasted long and was upgraded fairly quickly to give more selection over spray pattern. Is it good value for money? I think sometimes the Gardena stuff is expensive but I've had wall-mounted Gardena hose boxes for years without any issues so I guess it's worth it. Certainly they are sturdy and of good quality in my experience. I don't have any regrets over the purchase and my wife likes the convenience of the location.

Leaks more than any house I have owned
