  • The Ultimate Storage Powerhouse: A High Capacity Network Attached Storage Hard Drive!
Style: HDD Capacity: 12TB
I recently invested in a high capacity network attached storage (NAS) hard drive, and I'm absolutely thrilled with its exceptional performance and versatility. As someone with a growing digital footprint, this storage powerhouse has become an indispensable asset in managing and safeguarding my valuable data. First and foremost, the high storage capacity of this NAS hard drive is nothing short of impressive. With [X] terabytes of space at my disposal, I no longer worry about running out of storage for my multimedia files, work documents, family photos, and more. The ability to expand its capacity further, if needed, ensures that my data needs are future-proofed. Setting up the NAS drive was surprisingly easy, thanks to the user-friendly interface and intuitive setup process. Within minutes, I had the drive up and running, accessible from all my devices on the local network. The seamless integration with my existing devices, be it a PC, Mac, smartphone, or tablet, has made file sharing and data management incredibly convenient. Data security is of utmost importance to me, and this NAS hard drive delivers peace of mind with its robust security features. From password protection to encryption, I have full control over who can access my data and when. The RAID configuration options ensure redundancy, safeguarding my data from unexpected hardware failures. One of the standout features of this NAS hard drive is its impressive data transfer speeds. Uploading and accessing files from multiple devices simultaneously is smooth and lag-free, thanks to its gigabit Ethernet connectivity. This level of speed and performance makes it ideal for media streaming, backing up large files, and even running a personal cloud server. • Seagate Fan for life
Style: HDD Pro Capacity: 18TB
I have been a fan of Seagate for a while now, after bouncing around between Western Digital and a few others. Seagate has been the most reliable in my opinion. They have good customer service, good products, and have just been reliable as far as storage goes. This is just my experience. Coincidentally, one of the 4 drives I just bought to renew my NAS storage was bad and wouldn't spin up. I would imagine it was because of handling and storage on the part of Amazon and the vendor, but they were quick to refund me and I got another one ordered quick which arrived the next day with no issues. These drives are fairly quiet though I can't really hear anything since they reside in the NAS down in the basement area. They stay cool enough through heavy use, and are responsive. I will continue to use them as long as I can, and look into future Seagate products in the future. ... show more

  • replaced WD RED in Synology DS918+ w/ Seagate IronWolf Pro 12TB NA
Style: HDD Pro Capacity: 12TB
Using Synology DSM to replace disks one at a time took about a week without storage loss or need to rebuild storage pool. Been running 4x drives for four months without issues. RAID 5 pool is 31.4 TB an the NAS can write data as fast as my 1Gbps network can transfer it. Driver make more noise than PC HDD, however I have them below my entertainment room TV and it is noticeable with the TV on. I waited a while for the HDDs to go on-sale and I am more than happy with the purchase. The power adapter for the DS918+ failed before the original disks failed. Using NAS for home assistant VM, plex, NFS, synology photos, and synology notes (replaced Evernote). ... show more

  • Good well-performing large-sized disk
Style: HDD Capacity: 8TB
Hard drives are pretty commodity, really. You want a drive that 1) has as much space as you need, that 2) performs well enough for your purposes, and 3) that is reliable. 1) You already know how big it is 2) So far it's been working great for my video recording server application, performance-wise. 3) I won't know if it's reliable until it dies (as all drives do, eventually). And even then, of course, it's a statistical thing. Some will die sooner than others due to bad luck. And statistically it depends on the environment they're in, how they're used, etc. Very satisfied with the value of this one at this point, though. ... show more

  • where 30TB drive????
Style: HDD Pro(New) Capacity: 22TB
Pros: Size: Plenty of size in a single drive (still not enough though). Seagate promised to release the 30TB drives in 2023, so they’ll probably release it in 5 years. Noise: I use them in my PC and not a data center. The noise level is good and not annoying even on writes. Cons: Write speed: Claimed to be 285MB/s, however, this was never achieved. Max I was able to get is around 255Mb/s from an SSD. However, when I transfer a +55gb single file from the 2 identical models, I get 175Mb/s when the drives are about 67% full. Physical damage: I bought 2 drives from the seller called QuickDealStore. I got one with physical damage, the other was fine. This is while the HDDs were well packaged, so I dunno where it went wrong before packing. ... show more

  • Noise level driving me nuts
Style: HDD Capacity: 8TB
I haven't experienced disk noise in about 10 years so this drive is driving me nuts. It sounds like the drive is making popcorn while active. I have USB HDDs that make zero noise when placed on the right surface but these drives are mounted and I'm not sure I can eliminate the noises. Other than the noise I can't complain. Might return these if they make noises at idle. ... show more

  • Pretty great not having to think about your hard drive array.
Style: HDD Capacity: 8TB
Okay if you are like me. You maybe trying to decide between these and standard non-NAS HDDs for your NAS. Ill tell you know...just pay the tiny bit extra for the NAS rated. not having to worry (as much) about failures. I've had 3 failures in my (admittedly hodge-podge) 8 drive NAS, and all of them were non NAS rated drives. Not one failure from these. Now obviously I am a sample size of 1 and in reality ANY drive can fail. You should always have multiple backups. But the small amount extra for a large amount of reliability is worth it. ... show more
