  • Sports Model HDD
Blistering fast for HDDs of this size. Zero complaints, seagate drives have always been my go to. Personally owned about 6 over 13 years, I’ve always replaced them after 10, but have not experienced a single failure. My 2tb 10 year old seagate can still operate and reports as green in health scans, even though it’s clearly begging to be retired in its read speed. I just keep it in my backup computer in the closet. This firecuda can get hilariously loud though when it’s really working on writing large files as fast as it can. Loud to the point where I thought my wall radiator was acting up from what it sounded like, but it just turned out the be the hard drive. Made sense to me though when I saw its stock speeds: this thing is not tuned for noise but to be as fast as possible. That’s why I bought it, after all. When trying to read a lot of files quickly (loading large games) it sounds like any other healthy 7200RPM HDD, which is inaudible through headphones. I almost always have headphones on, but when they’re off I don’t notice the read sounds ever. If the program is constantly pushing the firecuda to 100% read usage, causing noticeable noise, it’s a program that specifies ssds as a requirement. Ridiculous HDD speeds, seagate reliability, and high capacity. I rely on this more than my ssd, since I want to keep those ssd cells as healthy as possible. Only files I need to access really fast or permanent files go on the ssd, everything disposable or games I’ll eventually delete goes to the hdd which doesn’t care as much about rewriting. Downloading large files is where this thing gets loud, everything else is standard 7200RPM volume levels. It is important to note that great, very high capacity ssds are becoming priced well. Choosing this over a typical 2tb seagate for burner files is a tough choice depending on where this is priced. While this is advertised as their more premium option, even their standard drives last 10+ years in straight up terrible conditions, under heavy, heavy usage. ... show more

  • Great product, if you know what you're doing.
I've had this hard drive for a few months and it's fair to say that it's great. It moves fast and doesn't make a lot of noise either. However, there is something I need to mention. This is a large capacity high speed hard drive, so it needs power to do all those things, a LOT of power. For context: I have a 750W power supply, 11th gen i5 and an RTX 2080 Super with 32GB of RAM. The CPU and GPU are at stock speeds, and the CPU has an AIO cooler. The RAM is at 3200MHz with XMP. I used to have 3 hard drives and one sata SSD in my machine, but I had to remove them all to use this one alone, since it uses so much power. Adding just one back in will result in the hard drive to randomly shut itself off under load, and that has risk of causing data loss, as I've lost 2 partitions due to this. Overall a great purchase, but also a costly learning experience. ... show more

  • Very Nice HDD
Had this HD for over 2 years now and still going strong. Have about 20 games saved on it and still have over 2TB remaining. Makes minimal noise and I have not encountered any problems with any of the game I play. For context, in my machine I have (2) NVMe M.2's, this HDD, and another HDD with a 1000W power supply. Would recommend this product to others. ... show more

  • Seagate FireCuda 4TB SATA 5GB 7200rpm
In an age where NMVE and SSD have taken over, I bought this 4TB as it was a lot less expensive. Always go for 7200rpm for faster speed and make sure to use the 6GB SATA connector. Very quiet, fast, and I have had it working for 3 years with no issues. Have always trusted the Seagate brand since the 80's when I bought my first 20gb RLL hdd. Highly recommended at a good price. ... show more

  • Buyer beware of seeminlgy common issues
So this thing does not appear in my bios, on top of that, my PC doesn't recognize it unless I have it plugged in from the start, but it never gets past the logo screen if it is, and I believe the issue is with it trying to boot out of the hdd instead of my ssd which houses my OS, but the hdd has nothing on it so if it's plugged in when I boot the PC up I get locked in the manufacturer logo screen and can't even access bios in the first place. So I hooked it up while I was in the bios screen, doesn't appear in any form, go to restart, and it sticks in the logo screen, frozen, can't do anything. I've tested the cable, tried all six SATA jacks, swapped the cable, tried different power cable ends, plugged it in while the PC is off completely, while it's in bios, while it's booted fully, no luck. The drive is definitely spinning up, everything is connected, it doesn't show up in partition manager if I hook up the SATA while booted. Trying an internal to external conversion when that shows up, turning my $130 hard drive into a $150 hard drive, being that my other option would be to get an OS on it, hook it up, swap it to storage, then switch back to booting out of my ssd, and that's waaaay too much headache for a hard drive, laughably bad out of the box. One would figure when you install a hard drive, it's just a matter of hooking it up and partitioning it, but apparently not for this one, and judging by some of the other low rated reviews, this is a pretty common problem with these drives, so buyer beware. UPDATE: I bench tested this drive in an internal to external hdd adapter, turns out the thing was junk right out of the box, nothing really detects it, and it REALLY slows down both PCs I hooked it up to. I do not recommend this piece, you can find similar hdds for less that review better overall, all said, the thing is an overpriced PoS ... show more
