The drive looks perfectly fine and could not see any defects on the case or pins. Did a full format making it ntfs and checked the disk for bad sectors and it came up with none. I'm now running it on Arch Linux using the ext4 file system with a boot, root, and home partition. I do have slow delays in processes but that could be Arch misconfigured as I am new linux all together. Video games work perfectly fine, I have a 60hz monitor so I only run at 60 fps. Boot time does not take long and boots from grub. It does have 2 tb. The disk is a bit noisy but I would expect that from a mechanical disk ... show more

I got this on Prime Day sale for a dirt cheap price. 8tb is a ton of space for pictures, music and especially backups of my Blu Ray movies. The one major drawback that really ticked me off was this drive doesn't work well with external enclosures. I had this drive on a 2 drive USB 3.0 docking bay and within a couple days the format got corrupted and I lost several terabytes of Blu Ray movies. I was p##sed off. Built like a tank...incredible build quality and solid state speed/performance! Easy to install. I do professional audio work using PCs, and this replaced my internal 1TB backup drive. Literally takes seconds to install (can you use a phillips head screwdriver?). You just have to remember to format the drive of course once connected and powered on (or it won't show up on your desktop). I had an album to mix and transferred all 2.5 TB of source audio files to the Barracuda the day before the client arrived. Of course their USB drive was snagging, but once transferred to he Barracuda...smooth sailing for 3 days of mixing! Recommended!! ... show more

I got these internal HD for backup. I use them with a desktop adapter that can connect to my computer and download images, photos, and files as backup for business and system security. Easy to configure (although you do need to have some basic knowledge of disk formatting procedure).
