It makes all the difference, the drum is huge and deep, its a pain to get in there to pull out clothes, with the pedestal its a breeze, be aware, have a few strong guys to lift that washer. you have to lift 330 pounds and hold it while 2 people align it under the washer and lower it very slow on the pedestal. Once you put the brackets on its safe to move it around, its pretty solid. A quick note, make sure you put some padding between the washer and the pedestal when you are done becasue the top plate of the pedestal slightly vibrate and make a very loud noise when its spinning, even if your machine is perfectly blananced without any visual shaking. I used a small piece of starfoam, it worked great. ... show more
