The thermometer does give a temp reading. It was within +/- 40 degrees on a 350 setting on my oven. I have no idea if the thermometer needed calibration. I would normally check a thermometer by reading the temp of boiling water but the instructions say not to immerse in water. I also do not see a way to change calibration anyway. So, it does give a temperature, but I have no way to know the error to actual; therefore, I have low confidence in the measurement. ... show more
