This is a very useful digital meat thermometer. I am impressed that it works so well even though it is quite inexpensive. Simply pull whatever is cooking out of the oven, push the thermometer probe into the item, and in a few seconds it gives you the temperature. It can give either Celsius or Fahrenheit, and it has a backlight to make the temperature easy to read. It also has a magnet so it can be stored on metallic object such as the exterior of a refrigerator. Two or three points of explanation. First, unlike traditional meat thermometers, you can't insert it into the meat and let it stay in the meat while cooking. I believe it would melt! Second, you must take the item out of the oven to take the temperature. If you leave the meat in the oven and try to take the temperature, it will show the temperature of the oven, not the meat. Finally, as with any meat thermometer, you must insert it in the correct place. I think this is an inexpensive but valuable cooking tool!

I was very glad to buy this digital thermometer. I had one that was one that clipped onto a pan when making candy or push it into meat or food but the ittle round top would always fog up and that made it hard to read. I was glad to purchase this digital one because it's very helpful. The display is bright, lights up and easy to read. You push it to meat or food and It quickly tells you what the temperature is. It's super helpful and I feel like it's more accurate. It's really easy to read. It's quality made and easy to use.

My first Kizen worked reliably for about 10 years. Then it was drenched by a torrential thunderstorm and stopped working. I immediately purchased a replacement which is accurate and almost instant reading. Then a few days later the old drowned Kizen came back to life and is working as accurate as ever. So now I use both, the old one for grilling and the new for inside cooking.

Excellent. Lasted 4yrs. Very good quality, sturdy not cheap or flimsy. Recently bought a new thermometer because this one finally broke. The new one was Amazon's Choice or Recommended, ONFIKY brand, and came out of the box feeling like a cheap toy. The metal arm (ONFIKY) feels like it will break easily. Going back to purchase the KIZEN thermometer.

--Original Review 2/24/2020 -- Received my thermometer today, calibrated it and tested it with just water. I was able to get a steady reading within ~4 seconds in hot, warm and cold tap water. - Nice, large display is easy to read - I love how compact it is, with the probe rotating safely back into the body - It turns on by simply pulling the probe out and rotating it. Probe can rotate 180 degrees - Shuts off automatically after a couple of minutes I would have given this item 5 stars, had it not been for the non-functioning backlight, straight out of the box. I even removed and replaced the battery, all to no avail. Will be returning this to Amazon for a replacement. Hopefully, the second time will be the charm... **UPDATE 2/29/2020** PLEASE READ!! ** I decided to email Kizen directly, rather than return the item to Amazon. Less than four hours after I sent the email, I already had a reply from Kizen Support! Mary apologized for the inconvenience of my receiving a defective item, assured me it was covered by a lifetime warranty, and she promised to ship a replacement out the next day. Sure enough, two days later, the replacement arrived at my doorstep! From the time I received Mary's email, to the time it arrived, less than 48 hours had elapsed! I am pleased to report the backlight on the replacement unit works flawlessly, providing a nice, bright blue display in low-light conditions. This level of Customer Support can be tough to come by these days, but Kizen went above and beyond, not only in how quickly they responded to my email, but stepping up and sending out a replacement unit in one day! Keep in mind, this is not an expensive item, but Kizen takes customer satisfaction very seriously, and I can't say enough good about the way I was treated. I highly recommend Kizen and their outstanding Customer Support. This is a great little thermometer, which is accurate, easy to use, compact, and functions as described.
