I received this thermometer for fathers day 2019. The wireless app and multiple probe design were some of the selling features. Out of the box, the device seems to be solidly built and feels like a quality device. Even the probes feel substantial and made to last. The unit and probes are pretty self explanatory and worked as expected. It was a nice surprise to find the unit is magnetic and will hold to the side table of the grill. This anchors the display nicely so even as you move the probes, the unit stays put. Having two probes was also a strong selling feature. The ability to track multiple pieces of varying density and thickness has been a challenge for me with a standard kitchen thermometer and often requires opening the grill more than I would like. This means loosing heat and disrupting the cooking process. With the ability to run multiple probes, this can be easily avoided and dealt with. In fact, this unit can handle up to six probes. (I only have two) I downloaded the companion app and the pairing was extremely easy and fast. One of the first things I noticed was the display was in Celsius. This was easily rectified in the settings of the app. The app is very intuitive and easy to navigate. I was quickly able to set temperature alarms and even custom temperature profiles for things I like to grill. Being able to "set it and forget it" was great. I was able to keep the grill closed and still know exactly where I was at in the process. Once I reached the final temperature, my phone let me know I was done. There is even a graph of temperature over time which allows you to see exactly the temperature progression which allows you to estimate when you'll be done. That's a nice feature when you're trying to time multiple parts of a meal so that everything is done at the same time. While the main unit seems well done, the app is really where this shines. From a range perspective I had no issues with connectivity. However, I did not exceed approximately 25 feet from the grill. Overall my initial impressions are that this device is well made and with the addition of the app, offers some really compelling features for the average griller to get more consistent, quality results. I know that performance may be impacted by equipment ( phone/phone case/phone os). I purchased this when the first thermometer I had finally died. Did a little research and reached out to my son that currently has this same model. He has had great experiences with his and based on that and the reviews of others I made the purchase. I have a lot of Bluetooth gadgets for one thing or another, and this thing not only connects quick but it stays connected. I am amazed at the range on this thing, I am getting about 90 feet which I think is at the limit of Bluetooth. Something else I think is worth mentioning is the wire length on the probes, these are much longer and therefore much more useful for my needs (maybe 10 or 12 inches longer). The other benefit is that it can take up to six probes, you might think you don’t need so many but I use one inside my smoker to monitor the temperature. All in all, the price was reasonable, but this units function and amenities are what give it the win over similar units. I may end up buying another one for those rare times that I run my smoker and my BBQ simultaneously. This was one of the purchases that I feel was a good value for the price.     • Full Featured Remote Temperature Probe

There is very little to dislike about this product. It was extremely easy to set up, It automatically recognizes what probes are in place and it has presets with recommended temperatures for doneness. What really impressed me is that it recognizes temperature ranges AND you can create customized temperatures and ranges. All of this is very easy to figure out. I still have another remote BBQ temperature gauge that comes very highly recommended on Amazon but I have had frequent problems with that gauge. The Nutrichef gauge is so much easier to understand and use the other one is going to a garage sale or even the garbage. One reviewer mentioned that this was about 20 degrees off, too high, and that caused a problem. I did find this gauge tended to register at too high a temperature. I don't consider that a major problem as I always double check the temperature of whatever meat I am cooking with an instant read temperature gauge. I've only used this gauge once but it was a signifiant task in cooking a pork shoulder for pulled pork. The preset temperature range was different than what I liked and I was able to create my own temperature range of 225-250. One probe was in the meat and onother for the BBQ. The alarm is a bit startling but you won't miss it! It all worked smoothly and the meat was perfect. At least after my initial use of this product I couldn't be happier. ... show more

This seems to be a remake of the Chugod meat thermometer. It would appear significantly improved. It is a solid-seeming device with very good probes. I am impressed enough to give 4-stars out-of-the box. I will give it some weeks and perhaps upgrade the review based in performance (the Chugod worked great but poor manufacturing caused the solder joints to fail way-prematurely). If this issue solved it is a clear 5-star. It is a clear 4-star due to cost - if it lasts a year under consistent use it is still a pretty great value. Works very well, and the software (BT app) is very good and easy to use. The thermocouples are solid. Overall a very good purchase - outstanding if the manufacturing issues are solved. ... show more

I was a little skeptical of this kind of thermometer, but my husband wanted to try it, and it has been a lifesaver for cooking sausages and large chunks of meat! It's so nice to just stick the thermometer in and wait till the app on your phone or the reader goes off!
