I needed an oven thermometer that would read down to 110 degrees for proofing bread in our gas oven. This fit the bill and seems pretty accurate so far. Nice quality, but the base isn't wide enough to stay stabilized on the oven racks. Worked out anyways, because I like the thermometer hung on the oven rack instead. We remodeled our kitchen and purchased a new range/oven. Unfortunately, the temperature knob, digital reading, and standard temperature gauge all read differently. We do a lot of baking and must know our current temperature accurately. This brings us to the Rubbermaid Commercial Products Stainless Steel Monitoring Thermometer for Oven review. I chose Rubbermaid because of their name and reputation of being quality products. According to this thermometer, the oven is off by 50 degrees. Adjusting the oven temperature and baking by the Rubbermaid readings has improved the outcome of our bread and other baked goods. I'm at the age where I need reading glasses, and small print is impossible for me to see, and I find this thermometer easy to read. Our 15-year old refrigerator stopped working two months ago. This was followed by serviceman visits and careful weighing of whether to replace the unit, or only replace the parts. I chose to get new parts, but doubted my choice the whole time. The repairman encouraged me to get a thermometer, to track temp changes myself. Went from 5 stars to 3 stars I ordered this 2 June and received it 4 June and it went straight into the freezer. 14 July 2022, I had to defrost the freezer and took everything out including the Rubbermaid and Copper thermometers. The Cooper is fine. The Rubbermaid has 3 water bubbles inside it and it has condensation inside which fogs up the ability to read it. I looked it over and it looks sealed all the way around but obviously it is not. You can still read the Rubbermaid thermometer but it should not be allowing water/condensation inside of it. It still works well because it records the same temp as the Cooper. In the morning, I will take my Rubbermaid thermometer out to the deck and let the sun hopefully dry the inside of this Rubbermaid thermometer out if by morning there is still 3 water bubbles in it and condensation. It is too late to send this back or I would. I hope the water inside issue does not warp the numbers or anything else inside the thermometer over time. BUY THE COOPER thermometer. OLD REVIEW BELOW I purchased a new small manual frost freezer "Danby" because frost free freezers don't last as long today. Wanting to keep it simple with less things to break - manual the way to go. However, most appliances (refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, etc) last only 7 years on average now because all owned by China, built in China or use Chinese parts and smaller appliances like microwaves and little things like thermometers last even less long. I read hundreds of reviews by people who lost thousands of dollars in frozen meat/food when their "new" freezer died or did not freeze food properly. I wanted a thermometer that worked but I didn't want to mess around buying batteries for it every few months. I looked for a restaurant thermometer and these had to be NSF certified which eliminated most of the Amazon thermometers except the 2 below. I purchased both of them. They arrived at same time and they went into the freezer at same time. They both registered the same reading and have been working for well over 2 months now. I have much older manual frost free freezer I am going to buy 2 more and put in there. Fingers crossed, the freezers will continue working properly for years to come but knowing a proper thermometer reading is just as important to give me heads up.
