I bought this for a pretty good deal on sale and have been wanting a Ring doorbell for a while and really wanted the mocha color without spending more on the pro that has the polished mocha color so I bought this. For a matte, non-polished mocha color, it looks very sleek and upscale and I was pretty pleased by how it looked. Even though it’s a battery doorbell I decided to wire it anyway so it can at least get a trickle charge so I’ll almost never have to charge it that way. I realized it would miss some events like deliveries and went to research the issue and came to find out that the reason is for it being a battery version. What I mean by this is, because it’s battery and needs to conserve charge it will go to sleep and takes some time to wake up to capture an event and that’s why it missed some events and won’t capture motion right away. If you have a wired doorbell it won’t have that issue because it’s not made to conserve charge since it’s wired and is ready to sense motion and capture events right away. After discovering this I decided to pay a little extra for another deal for the pro, which is offered in polished mocha color and haven’t had any issues with capturing events or motion with the pro version. Regardless of this small issue, I still think it’s still a great doorbell, it’s just sometimes you’ll miss a few events or motion notifications because of it being a battery version. Another thing I liked about it besides the look was the connectivity to my old, original, mechanical chime/doorbell ring. It was extremely simple. You have to wire the doorbell to the 2 wires your original doorbell was hooked up to (super easy, just loop them around and under the screw heads and tighten) and then go to your doorbell’s settings in the Ring app and connect the doorbell to your mechanical doorbell chime. That’s one advantage from this battery version you can’t get from the pro. The pro is a higher and newer technology so it isn’t compatible with original doorbell mechanical chimes so you have to buy a Ring chime, which is kind of disappointing but not a deal breaker. I only returned this item so I wouldn’t miss events and motion notifications. The video quality is not bad and pretty good for 2k. To be completely honest, I almost like this doorbell’s matte mocha color better than the pro’s polished mocha, it’s very clean and sleek looking. If you wire it, the button will light up around the outline at night, which looks very nice.

I have been trying for a month to subscribe to a Ring monitoring subscription WITH ABSOLUTELY NO SUCCESS!!!!! The website will simply LOOP around to the same thing over and over - NOTHING! When I FINALLY found a telephone number to call I GET SOME CLOWN IN INDIA THAT COULD NOT SPEAK OR UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. Ring, you're losing a lot of business with your AI bot and your non-English speaking 'agents'. If you want any of my business you can contact me through Amazon. Otherwise I will be taking down this ring doorbell and replacing it with some other brand. Personally, I'M TIRED OF TRYING TO CONTACT AN AMERICAN WHO REPRESENTS YOUR COMPANY to subscript to your monitoring service.!

It requires a monthly fee. Also, if you want to return the item, you have to be at home to wait for the UPS pickup; they don't allow you to drop it off at a UPS location. Furthermore, the Amazon representatives handling the sales and shipping are becoming increasingly unfriendly.
