I own three. I use them to control the turning on and off of outdoor decorations. I used to use the mechanical timers. The Ring Smart Plug and the Ring app are so much easier to use. Two of the three are completely outdoors with no cover, so they get rained on with no ill effects. And the GFCI circuit breaker they are connected to does not trip. Had this product outside for Christmas lights and pergola lights. Left it plugged in outside for convenience like it’s supposed to provide. Now it’s dead as a doorknob 19 Months in. Buy and your own risk but id buy a warranty with this one if you do buy it.

    • Easy install and reliable operation
We already use a Ring doorbell and security cameras. Bought this (and the required bridge) to replace a photocell controlled external LED light switch. Easy to install the bridge and then link to the smart plug. using the ring app and QR codes on packaging. The plug works with only a moderate WiFi signal (Ring app reports signal strength as "Fair". Easy to set a schedule for on/off specific times, but the dusk to dawn setting did not work (never came on) and switching the lights off manually after a scheduled start and then on manually deletes the schedule off time. Tech support indicated that this is intended behavior, but it's occasionally annoying. Overall, works well and I will probably add a couple more. ... show more

    • Great Device, Just Needs Independence from the Ring Lighting Bridge
Set up for the Ring Outdoor Smart Plug was simple and fast. Set it up in the Ring app, name your Outlet A and Outlet B, and done. I have my outdoor string lights plugged in, and will soon have my Traeger plugged in, as well. I already created a few routines with Alexa for the string lights that work great. My only issue with the Ring Outdoor Smart Plug is its reliance on the Ring Lighting Bridge. I don't think the Ring Lighting Bridge uses Z-Wave nor Zigbee. I am unsure why Ring didn't make this Smart Plug compatible with the Ring Alarm (Z-Wave), or with the Echo Gen4, Echo Show and Show 10, Echo Plus, Echo Studio, or eero 6 and Pro 6's internal Zigbee bridges. I know some of the newer Ring Smart Lighting products can work directly with the Echo Gen4 and Show 10 (unsure how that works, but apparently it does), so I can only hope support will come for that with the Ring Outdoor Smart Plug. The whole point of the internal Zigbee bridges is to reduce the number of smart bridges in a home. Ring and Amazon need to align better on the development of the smart home and how things connect. Make everything Zigbee, or focus on Thread (since that seems to be the future). TL;DR Ring Outdoor Smart Plug is great. Wish it didn't require the Ring Smart Lighting Bridge, but the Plug itself is a solid piece of hardware. ... show more

    • Perfect for our deck lighting
I honestly didn’t know these things existed until 6 months ago. The contractor that replaced our deck last May mentioned WeMo which I bought but never used since I had also purchased a couple of other Ring products. We have this on a timer through the Ring app and it is flawless. We also just had something of a deluge this past week and the outlet survived without a problem. I will note that ours is under the deck and hanging with the outlets down so it is well-protected. For the price and simplicity you can’t go wrong. ... show more

Like all things ring this device works great I use this to control the lights on the front of my house. It's easy to setup especially if you already have a ring system full of cameras like I did.

I have an outdoor pond with a couple waterfalls but I don't like to run them all of the time. It's extremely inconvenient to go out and plug and unplug the waterfalls so I decided to purchase this product. The plug itself is fairly far from my wifi source so I was a little afraid it would not be able to hook up but to my surprise it actually is working fantastic and I'm able to turn the waterfalls on and off remotely using Alexa.
