I purchased this umbrella to cover most of the patio which has two sides up against the house. I was concerned that there would not be enough room to open it without having to move furniture each time. No need to worry. The tilting feature makes it easy to open, even in cramped spaces. It was easy to put together and included everything needed to mount it on the Purple Leaf underground base I purchased for it. It works great and looks really nice. Once fully open, it sways a bit more than I would like when it gets breezy, but I doubt any similar umbrellas that size would be any different. Customer service was great. I reached out a few times with questions and received a prompt, friendly response each time. It's always nice to get help from support based in the US.

I bought the Purple Leaf 10x12 beige patio umbrella for my backyard, and I absolutely love it! It’s big, elegant, and instantly makes the whole patio feel like a resort. The beige color is classy and goes perfectly with my outdoor furniture. It adds that calm, relaxing vibe I wanted. The quality feels premium. The canopy fabric is thick and gives great shade, and the UV protection really helps on hot sunny days. I was looking for a very large offset umbrella that was not only beautiful but provided lots of shade and was of high quality to withstand our wind and weather at our house on the shores of Lake Erie. I found it with this Purple Leaf 12' square umbrella! We needed something that would provide lots of shade on our patio after a large tree had to be removed and a smaller tree (as you can see in the picture) needs to go (dying) resulting in no more natural shade on our patio (as an aside, I will be planting another large tree this Fall - miss the greenery terribly!). I've had only amazing comments from visitors and neighbors alike! In fact, one neighbor ordered the same one - a bit smaller - because they liked ours so much! It was very easy to put together with two people and only took about 30 min out of the box (we also got the Purple Leaf umbrella base and filled it with water). The crank opening operation is super easy and moving it around to 'catch' the sun and then putting it away with the cover for the night is really simple! Couldn't be easier! We did have one issue, however. One afternoon we left it unattended for a couple hours and a large, unexpected wind gust came out of the east and caught it like a sail and sent it flying over (we will be adding sand bags to the base). It broke several ribs and was unusable! Heartbroken! I contacted Purple Leaf and they helped to make it right and I ordered a replacement right away. The only thing we are doing different now is to watch the wind direction and turn the umbrella away from prevailing winds (even at 12mph) or just take it down. This would be a good practice with any umbrella of this size. It's worth it to us (taking time to be careful with potential wind situations), in the end, to have such beautiful shade! Hope this one will last for years! I highly recommend it!

Quality product, excellent and responsive customer service. Purchased 2 large umbrellas in 2025, and they assembled rather easily. I live on the water front and wind is a big factor in my decision. Just recently in 2026 I had opened 1 of my 12x10 umbrellas on a breezy day. It held up fine until a large 40+ mph gust came thru and threw the umbrella over. 2 of the ribs were damaged (bent) when it hit the ground. I Reached out to customer service THE NEXT DAY and they responded immediately looking to send me replacement ribs. When I was assessing the ribs that were damaged, I realized at closer inspection that the canvas material had a 3-4" tear. At this point I decided to just purchase a new replacement umbrella which I did. I let customer service know that I no longer needed the replacement ribs and that I just decided to purchase a new umbrella. I did ask them if there was anything they can do for me on the purchase of new umbrella. They stated to send them the new invoice and offered a 10% ($45) rebate credit on the new umbrella I purchased and proceeded to credit my account immediately after the fact which they were really not obligated. Thank You and a Purple leaf fan for life.

I bought this 9' square offset umbrella in turquoise blue PLUS the base. I ALSO bought the 10' round offset umbrella in turquoise blue PLUS the base. ALL from Purple Leaf. Yes- well made looking and very attractive. I spent a lot of money buying all these things. The square umbrella was placed onto my patio and the round umbrella onto my deck. I was hoping to have both umbrellas match in color but they did not. One was very much light in color than the other. Nice turquoise blue colors otherwise so I kept both. The bases, by the way, were very solid and nice looking. I have a lot of sun in the back so these will come in very handy. I already knew how to put these units together as I was replacing an old offset umbrella but I felt the instructions given could have been a little more explanatory. Also in the instructions, it mentions there being a foot pedal to hold the umbrella in place once you rotate it to a desired location. There is no foot pedal. Old instructions. As for the bases, I took my time and filled them with sand. There's 2 holes in the top of the bases to do this. Holes are not centered however so I used a blower in the holes to try and move the sand to all spots. It would have been better if a total of 4 holes were provided at the top for doing this chore to evenly spread the sand into it. So getting the sand to all parts was very hard. Besides, I plan on leaving these in the same location through out the winter. Just cover them up. One thing I did not like was that when I ordered these 2 umbrellas and the 2 bases, it would have been nice if an option was offered to buyers like me: In the umbrella boxes it also contains a set of metal base bars (for people who do not purchase the bases). These base bars are used to bolt the unit down to a deck, for example. It's useless for me, however, because I purchased the bases. I'm stuck with these base bars and yet, had to purchase them with the umbrellas. Purple Leaf should have offered the option of removing these and reducing the price if a person purchases the separate bases at the time of sale. The bases that I purchased, by the way, have the built in bars already installed, so ... but I think these umbrellas are all packed and boxed the same in the factory. But again, if you're purchasing the separate bases, then these other base bars contained in the box are useless. Waste of money. Umbrellas also come with a cover. It looks pretty nice. There are wheels under the base by the way-just on one side. Impossible to move unit once it's filled. Also- before trying to open the umbrella up, you have to look inside it as they used Styrofoam and tape to pack the prongs up. The instructions don't tell you to remove them before hand and you're trying to open the umbrella only to discover they're inside the umbrella so you have to try and reach in and up to cut them out. But nice umbrellas. NOT waterproof. The first thing written in the instructions tells you this. For the money I spent, I think it should have been waterproofed.

What an amazing umbrella! My old umbrella would spin around in the wind, this thing takes wind gusts like a champ! It provides such a wonderful amount of shade and it looks gorgeous on our deck.

In a nutshell - the umbrella is great. So glad we got it. We live on the Columbia River facing south/southwest across from a wildlife refuge, so we need some shade but I didn't want anything that would permanently block the view. Also, we're near the mouth of the famously windy Columbia Gorge, so any umbrella would have to be extra stable, even when closed (I've lost several tall, heavy potted plants). This umbrella hit every mark. 1. As you can see from the photos, when the umbrella is closed, it's out of view. 2. I can sit outside now and find shade any time of day by changing the angle of the umbrella. 3. My engineer husband laughed at me when I said we ought to move it to the side of the house to be safe when the big winds come. He said that the umbrella is going nowhere when closed. We had some 15 mph gusts the other day when I was sitting outside, and there was some minor movement at the top, but nothing to be concerned about. Assembly and operation: My son put it together on his own, pretty intuitively; however, he's 6'5". If you don't have the height, It would be pretty difficult without two people. Now that it's assembled, it's very easy for me to put up and down and change the angle. We got the moveable base because I wanted to be able to adjust the location to shade the table or the seating area. However, we filled it to the max with sand and water for maximum stability, so it's big and it's HEAVY. My son and husband can move it. I (a fit 135 lb, 5'5" woman) cannot. Customer service suggested we take some of the sand out and put a couple of sandbags on top instead. We'll do that before next season.
