Initially, the man of the house wasn't all-in on this purchase. That changed the minute he sat down with a cocktail on a beautifully shaded patio. The Purple Leaf Umbrella has solved our problem. Our patio faces North and gets the afternoon West sun that is low in the sky. Traditional patio umbrellas can be tilted only a small degree; the limited tilt meant we could only have shade when the sun was overhead. In the photos, you will see that the tilt of the Purple Leaf is what allows us to block the later-afternoon sun. The Purple Leaf Umbrella offers freedom from sunshine any hour of the day. It is extremely well-made, easy to operate, has a 360 turn area and nearly a vertical tilt. The umbrella is sturdy and attractive. It withstood even hefty winds. It is easy to set up in spring and take down in fall. One recommendation: If you're using sand in the base, you'll find that bags of sand are generally moist/wet inside. That makes it difficult to feed into the base. Take the time to distribute the bags of sand on a tarp on a sunny day, and let the sand dry out. Then it will be easy to funnel into the base. OK - I admit I was not crazy about the idea. But that is what she wanted so this (13' round) patio umbrella is what we got. I am certainly able to admit when I was wrong - and both, was I wrong! The instructions were pretty good, but it ends up that the base that I had and the pictures that were on the instructions were not a match so that threw me a bit. But once I got past that, it was easy to put together. Then we used it. WOW. It is exceedingly easy to open and close, but it is VERY adjustable with the greatest of ease. With turning one of two cranks (very solidly built) we can rotate the entire umbrella 360 degrees and/or can position it completely vertically (barrier when we want privacy) or completely horizontally (shade, rain protection) or anything in between. It's not just infinitely adjustable - the ease with which anyone of any build or strength is able to do so. The material which the umbrella itself is made out of seems quite thick and certainly strong, and it has stood up to moderate winds with ease (I close the umbrella and cover it - see below - if the weather gets too aggressive. 13' round is a LOT of surface area for the wind to act on, even with a base of a few hundred pounds.) I strongly advise getting the patio umbrella cover as well, as it will protect your investment as it has mine. Rather than being hard to use, the cover can be placed on the umbrella (from open to closed AND covered/zipped shut with the cover) in absolutely less than one minute. Taking off the cover is even easier. I purchased this in February, 2025. It is now the last day of March, 2026, and the shock corded foldable pole that supports the umbrella cover came apart. (You can use it even after the internal rope breaks but it means having to care for three separate mini-poles instead of one group bundled together.). I wrote the company and they replaced it without hesitation. I *** LOVE *** this patio umbrella, its quality build, its ease of use, and now I can also add that I love the people who provide their product support. They did NOT have to replace this pole - but they did. At their expense. And with that bought an even more appreciative and loyal customer who should have written this LONG ago.

We have owned this 13' umbrella for over one year. We are very happy with it and everybody who sees our setup compliments us on how beautiful it is. It is a well designed outside umbrella and very well made. Materials used are first class and the unit is well put together. Everything fits. The shipment arrived very well packaged and easy to handle. The 13 foot double top round umbrella is a substantial piece of equipment and requires two adults, at minimum, to install it. To lift the top assembly into the stand requires a good amount of manpower. Since the umbrella swivels 360 degrees it covers the whole of our wooden deck from morning till evening by making adjustments every so often during the day. We use the steel plate base which easily attaches to the deck and is located by 16 lag screws. This installation looks clean and stands up to some good size wind gusts. I would draw the line at about 15, maybe 20 mph. Opening and closing of the big canopy and rotating the unit is intuitive and easy. The Purple Leaf customer service is super responsive and went out of their way being helpful. I had a question about the workings of a small item being part of the canopy assembly and within a few days a complete replacement arrived at my front door.

I’m really impressed with this umbrella. It was extremely easy to set up. The quality is amazing. Very easy to open and close by myself. I’m 4 foot 10 and I can do it on my own considering how large it is. I also bought the base I filled it with water and so far it’s been holding up even on a windy day! I’ve never purchased anything from this friend, but will definitely look for future products.

Originally This was to be delivered on Friday the 23rd. After sitting in the warehouse and not being shipped for a few days It was scheduled for after the memorial day weekend. Purple leaf contacted me and offered me a 10% discount and kept following up and somehow the umbrella was actually delivered Saturday afternoon so we at least got to use it for half of the memorial day weekend installing it on Sunday. Their customer service was very prompt and helpful. We love the umbrella as it appears well built, is very sturdy, easy to install and works great. It also swivels very easily. I would supply a picture but it is down today as we are expecting some wind and rain.

Cannot say enough good things about this umbrella. Bolted into concrete and we closed it for wind and rains. We had severe winds and it is still standing. I have been waiting for something that could withstand 70-80 mph winds. I will be opening it back up soon and will update if anything goes wrong. Color was as advertised. Very sturdy, attractive "market" vibe. I am wanting a second one to cover the other side of the patio and wishing I hadn't waited so long or wasted money on other things that simply weren't as sturdy
