I bought this umbrella for the deck of my parent's beach cottage. It has been terrific. We've left it up accidently in 20 knot winds and it just bounces a bit. The deck and cottage itself are kept much cooler on hot, sunny days when the umbrella is up. It covers enough of an area that you can have a chaise lounge under it and you don't have to be playing musical chairs constantly as the sun moves overhead. I have antifreeze in the base so it is easy to set up in the spring and retire for the winter. Really like this umbrella!

We’ve had this umbrella on our patio for 5 years and it has exceeded our expectations. It’s only slightly faded and is still in good working condition. We would continue using it, but we’re replacing it with the smaller 12’ diameter version in the same color. The 13’ model is such a beast that we didn’t trust a normal weighted base, so instead we stacked pavers on the base. It can be a little cumbersome to open and close, but that’s to be expected considering the size. It’s remarkably stable for something so large. The tilt and rotation functions are also well-designed and easy to use. We were careful to take it down whenever strong winds or storms were forecast, but it had no problem withstanding 20 mph wind gusts when we were unable to take it down in time.

I ordered the navy 13 ft Purple Leaf cantilever from Amazon a few weeks ago. Came super quick, in just 10 days. Installed with no problems. We simply attached the Purple Leaf hardware to a 2 x 10 pressure treated board and mounted it on the existing in-ground cement post we used for our old Hampton Bay cantilever. The Purple Leaf is a lot heavier and more sturdy than our old Hampton Bay - no regrets purchasing this beast! Just make sure you remove all the packing foam and clear plastic hidden in the folds at the top of the umbrella so it will fully extend. It’s sneaky tucked up in there!

We found a leak in the base about 10 months after buying the umbrella and contacted Purple Leaf and communicated with Kate on the customer service team and she had a brand new replacement base sent to us! Originally This was to be delivered on Friday the 23rd. After sitting in the warehouse and not being shipped for a few days It was scheduled for after the memorial day weekend. Purple leaf contacted me and offered me a 10% discount and kept following up and somehow the umbrella was actually delivered Saturday afternoon so we at least got to use it for half of the memorial day weekend installing it on Sunday. Their customer service was very prompt and helpful. We love the umbrella as it appears well built, is very sturdy, easy to install and works great. It also swivels very easily. I would supply a picture but it is down today as we are expecting some wind and rain.

I purchased a Purple Umbrella four years ago. Last winter, 2024, even with a cover, the umbrella had a tear. I took a picture and sent it to the company. Their response was quick. They asked for the order number, which was easy to find through Amazon. They sent me a brand new umbrella and suggested getting a cover appropriate for the size of the umbrella, which would protect the umbrella better. The fit was perfect for a deck and gives me the shade I need in summer. Our deck faces south, so we get all day sun. We are on a hill, and the wind is fierce. The umbrella remained solid, not bending or falling over. Incredible!!.
