This shade is worth the money. It’s easy to maneuver and shade is excellent. It’s great to be able to move the umbrella to change shade location as the sun moves. The color is gorgeous just like the picture. Easy to close down and use the built in strap to secure it to its pole.

I was looking for a very large offset umbrella that was not only beautiful but provided lots of shade and was of high quality to withstand our wind and weather at our house on the shores of Lake Erie. I found it with this Purple Leaf 12' square umbrella! We needed something that would provide lots of shade on our patio after a large tree had to be removed and a smaller tree (as you can see in the picture) needs to go (dying) resulting in no more natural shade on our patio (as an aside, I will be planting another large tree this Fall - miss the greenery terribly!). I've had only amazing comments from visitors and neighbors alike! In fact, one neighbor ordered the same one - a bit smaller - because they liked ours so much! It was very easy to put together with two people and only took about 30 min out of the box (we also got the Purple Leaf umbrella base and filled it with water). The crank opening operation is super easy and moving it around to 'catch' the sun and then putting it away with the cover for the night is really simple! Couldn't be easier! We did have one issue, however. One afternoon we left it unattended for a couple hours and a large, unexpected wind gust came out of the east and caught it like a sail and sent it flying over (we will be adding sand bags to the base). It broke several ribs and was unusable! Heartbroken! I contacted Purple Leaf and they helped to make it right and I ordered a replacement right away. The only thing we are doing different now is to watch the wind direction and turn the umbrella away from prevailing winds (even at 12mph) or just take it down. This would be a good practice with any umbrella of this size. It's worth it to us (taking time to be careful with potential wind situations), in the end, to have such beautiful shade! Hope this one will last for years! I highly recommend it!

I absolutely love this very large Cantilever 12x12 foot umbrella. While I have only used it a couple of times, it is very easy to open up the canopy and rotate the canopy. We use this umbrella as a horizontal shade block for our patio deck, as we have an A Frame opening and it is impossible to hang roll down shades for this type of setup. This is the next best thing and so far so good. I would also like to give a shout out to Kate. She has been amazing in terms of customer service. I was looking for this product on Purple Leaf's website, but they were sold out. She pointed me in the direction of Amazon to get the umbrella that I was looking for. It was actually a little cheaper on Amazon. She also then took my order number from Amazon and made sure to put a rush on the delivery for me. She also answered some questions that I had on what best to use for filling the large base for my application. She has been so easy and responsive to all of my questions/needs. She is a rockstar!

The hand crank to open and close umbrella did NOT work season 2 of having it, I contacted seller and they wanted to give me an $80 refund as if money was the issue, I found it pretty offensive! it costed me nearly $900 for this umbrella with the base I expected more use out of it . I asked for them to replace the defective umbrella and they refused. Parts used for this umbrella are cheap not worth the money at all and definitely not sturdy , tip hazard it has fallen on me but most importantly very cheap mechanism , you will get a season use out of it not worth the money Get yourself a Costco membership and purchase yourself an umbrella with a true warranty

Raises and lowers easily and looks great. Deducting a star due to the cheap cover that is included that doesn’t match the color of the umbrella fabric. Also, I recommend using a permanent mounting plate rather than a portable water/sand base. In moderate winds the umbrella did fall over once. 12’ is a HUGE sail.
