I purchased a Purple Umbrella four years ago. Last winter, 2024, even with a cover, the umbrella had a tear. I took a picture and sent it to the company. Their response was quick. They asked for the order number, which was easy to find through Amazon. They sent me a brand new umbrella and suggested getting a cover appropriate for the size of the umbrella, which would protect the umbrella better. The fit was perfect for a deck and gives me the shade I need in summer. Our deck faces south, so we get all day sun. We are on a hill, and the wind is fierce. The umbrella remained solid, not bending or falling over. Incredible!!.

We love our Purple Leaf Umbrella and base! It works very well and provides our family cool shade on our patio when we eat or entertain. We found a leak in the base about 10 months after buying the umbrella and contacted Purple Leaf and communicated with Kate on the customer service team and she had a brand new replacement base sent to us! I would recommend this product for sure!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: We have used our Purple Leaf umbrella on our deck for 4 years now and it’s still going strong! So glad I found one that lasts. Easy to put up and down though ours stays up most of the summer. No regrets!

I ordered the navy 13 ft Purple Leaf cantilever from Amazon a few weeks ago. Came super quick, in just 10 days. Installed with no problems. We simply attached the Purple Leaf hardware to a 2 x 10 pressure treated board and mounted it on the existing in-ground cement post we used for our old Hampton Bay cantilever. The Purple Leaf is a lot heavier and more sturdy than our old Hampton Bay - no regrets purchasing this beast! Just make sure you remove all the packing foam and clear plastic hidden in the folds at the top of the umbrella so it will fully extend. It’s sneaky tucked up in there!

I am revising my original rating from three to four. My original reservations have not changed - filling the base with sand is an impossible task and the mfr should have created much larger openings so that the process could take just minutes rather than hours. I pointed this out to the company and they said they would pass my suggestion onto their research department. They also suggested that for those living in cold places that you could fill the base with 3/4 water and 1/4 anti-freeze. I suppose that would solve the problem. Second, they suggest that assembly requires two people - I would suggest perhaps two very strong people or maybe even three people. This thing is a monster and very heavy to lift and position onto the stem into the base. Having said that, I am happy with the finished product (picture attached) and have received quite a few compliments. Just be aware of this product's difficulties. I am writing this review to warn potential buyers that putting this together is not a piece of cake. Otherwise, the umbrella seems to be plenty sturdy and attractive. Just be prepared for the work involved.
