Quality product, excellent and responsive customer service. Purchased 2 large umbrellas in 2025, and they assembled rather easily. I live on the water front and wind is a big factor in my decision. Just recently in 2026 I had opened 1 of my 12x10 umbrellas on a breezy day. It held up fine until a large 40+ mph gust came thru and threw the umbrella over. 2 of the ribs were damaged (bent) when it hit the ground. I Reached out to customer service THE NEXT DAY and they responded immediately looking to send me replacement ribs. When I was assessing the ribs that were damaged, I realized at closer inspection that the canvas material had a 3-4" tear. At this point I decided to just purchase a new replacement umbrella which I did. I let customer service know that I no longer needed the replacement ribs and that I just decided to purchase a new umbrella. I did ask them if there was anything they can do for me on the purchase of new umbrella. They stated to send them the new invoice and offered a 10% ($45) rebate credit on the new umbrella I purchased and proceeded to credit my account immediately after the fact which they were really not obligated. Thank You and a Purple leaf fan for life.

I purchased the Purple Leaf 10'x10' umbrella and the base with wheels for an outdoor patio and pizza oven area. Initially I had considered building a pergola or some other structure until I started seeing reviews for these large cantilevered umbrellas. I am 200% happy with this purchase and feel like it is the perfect compliment to my outdoor space. Here are the advantages for using this product (vs. a fixed pergola or awning): -The umbrella is easy to handle and once you get it installed in the base, one person can make the necessary height and location adjustments. -The build quality is good, and it has a number of base options to secure it either permanently or allow for easy movement from place to place. -The umbrella has a swivel feature to allow you to pivot the entire umbrella surface around for different locations or to provide cover during movement of the sun. -Much easier installation vs a fixed covering; once you have the base secured, it takes about 5 minutes to set this up, and can be expanded or retracted in seconds using the adjustment levers. You could spend days or weeks installing a pergola, might need to get permits, have to dig or modify hardscape, and ultimately you are stuck with a fixed solution vs. this umbrella which is portable. -Compared to ANY kind of fixed awning or pergola, this product is a much more competitive price including purchasing the more expensive adjustable base with wheels (which I recommend and review separately). -I had a minor issue with a shipper regarding the base, and contacted the company (Purple Leaf) who immediately responded to help with a resolution. As other reviews have noted, their customer service is highly responsive. A few things to consider before purchase: 1-Measure your space carefully. Not only are you looking at ground space, but you need to consider overhead areas (trees or wires) and how the umbrella will pivot in proximity to other structures or appliances like a BBQ or pizza oven chimney. I ended up getting a square umbrella as it just made more sense for the space I was trying to cover and was easier to calculate than a rectangular one. 2-If you go with the moveable/adjustable base (which I recommend), keep in mind that it is approx. 36" square so that will take up quite a bit of space. I built a small moveable bench to cover the base out of leftover Timbertech boards from a deck I built. That way people can sit on the bench vs. try not to trip over the 36" square base. 3- I cannot comment on the maximum wind this umbrella will withstand, but it is like a large parachute and even with the top vent, can move quite a bit in the wind. My advice is that when you have wind in the forecast, retract the umbrella and secure it with the retaining strap. I highly recommend this product, and the company (Purple Leaf) and would definitely purchase it again.

We have a small 12 x 15 deck and no trees so never got much use out of it because it was always baking in the sun. We replaced the old deck with composite decking last year and now I want to use it. Purple leaf has such great reviews and competitive prices. It was an easy choice for me. It wasn’t hard to put together, although for me, the instructions could’ve been clearer. The instructions were only pictures and I like words with my pictures. Thankfully, my husband knew what they meant. The material seems starting, and the aluminum is heavy gauge. I believe it will last a long time. I used the metal base plate and attached it directly to our deck with extra support lumber directly under the deck for stability and strength. I had questions for Customer Service because i wanted to get the order right and they were excellent, as others have also reported. Questions were answered within the time frame promised and I received follow up emails checking to see if everything is works as expected. The umbrella moves slightly in the breeze but is very stable. I will probably not be testing the waterproofing though because it will not be left open when not in use and I bought a uv protection, waterproof umbrella cover to extend the life of the fabric. I enjoy sitting on my deck sofa looking at the mountains in the distance. Well done Purple Leaf!

What an amazing umbrella! My old umbrella would spin around in the wind, this thing takes wind gusts like a champ! It provides such a wonderful amount of shade and it looks gorgeous on our deck.

I purchased this umbrella to cover most of the patio which has two sides up against the house. I was concerned that there would not be enough room to open it without having to move furniture each time. No need to worry. The tilting feature makes it easy to open, even in cramped spaces. It was easy to put together and included everything needed to mount it on the Purple Leaf underground base I purchased for it. It works great and looks really nice. Once fully open, it sways a bit more than I would like when it gets breezy, but I doubt any similar umbrellas that size would be any different. Customer service was great. I reached out a few times with questions and received a prompt, friendly response each time. It's always nice to get help from support based in the US.

After ordering both the umbrella and base, customer service immediately reached out and indicated the base we ordered would not work with the umbrella. They sent link to correct base. Canceled and ordered new base. So careful when ordering. They should just an option that bundles the two. Anyway, assembly is a project and needs two people. Instructions are decent but light on important details. Just make sure all the umbrella rods are clear of packaging and unentangled. The base is huge and super heavy once filled with 50 pounds of sand and the rest water. FYI, there are base drains for winter storage. The umbrella has excellent build quality and once setup, smoothly operates. Two cranks open and rotate the 360 swivel. Know, we have the 12’ square and it’s big. So expansion can be tedious if your area has a lot of furniture directly around it. If you have clearance away from seating area, swivel away and it expands and closes with ease. This one also tilts for low afternoon sun. Great option. Our unit arrived slightly dented but did not prevent full operation and not noticeable to the casual eye. Customer service did discount our order. But they need to take better care in shipping these large items. All in all, we are happy.
