I love this umbrella (9’x11.5’). Great coverage. Fairly easy to put together and very well made. Color is a true navy. Easy to put up the umbrella and take it down. I also got the umbrella cover (M). The umbrella is very tall so I was afraid I would need a ladder to put the cover on and take it off but there is a firm pole that you insert near the zipper which allows you to remove it and put it back on, reaching over your head with no problem. I got the base, SBL4090 that you fill with sand and water. I used 150 lbs of sand then filled the rest up with water. It would be nice if they had fill holes on both sides of the base, but we managed with the one. Note that the base comes with a firm plastic sheet. That is to make a funnel so you can easily pour the sand in without making a mess. I used that and the firm instruction sheet to make a big funnel. My husband and I were able to put the whole thing together easily. Definitely need two people. The only minor issue I had was that I only got 4 washers instead of 8. Annoying, but my husband found some similar ones in his collection which were good enough. All 3 items were sold separately.

We had a large umbrella just like this one for three years made by Purple Leaf. The quality of that unit was not the best, and I vowed not to buy another one. Could not find another brand which was as large so decided to give Purple Leaf another try. The new umbrella is actually a better made unit, the material seems to be a thicker fabric and the seams are better matched. The best part was we pulled the old umbrella off the floor post and slid the new umbrella on and it fit perfectly. We have stretchable straps on the corners attached to the deck so the wind will not destroy it. They work well at holding the umbrella steady. It was a good purchase, and hope it will last longer than the previous unit.

I had to replace a couple to braces on my umbrella recently. Alex and the Purple Leaf team did an excellent job in helping me secure the two arms along with a video on how to replace them. He was in constant touch with me through the whole process always asking how he could help. You only wished that every manufacture was as good as these guys. The product itself is of excellent quality and very easy to raise and lower considering its size. The only advice I have is to be sure to completely fill the weighted containers all the way to obtain the proper support for the umbrella. Rich.

Update!! I am now okay with the ease of opening and turning of umbrella. after the first hard time opening and turning I am now able to do it without any help. It may have been hard because it sat for a month after putting it up at our camper.. Love the umbrella. Easy to install. looks nice Only 4 stars because as a 5'3" 66 yr old woman i cant raise it up or turn it because it to hard, The crank is fine but need my husbamd for the rest I dont know if i WD40 would help Maybe the more it is used will losen up.

***UPDATE*** Purple Leaf reached out and offered excellent customer support. They simply requested the original order information and photos of the damage. The same day, they advised me that they were sending replacement parts. Within a few days, the parts were at my house and I had my umbrella back in working order. They followed up to make sure everything worked. While I was initially disappointed with the product, the company proved themselves to be trustworthy and willing to help. After reading so many good reviews and comparing Purple Leaf to other brands, I purchased this 9x11 umbrella along with the in-ground base. I dug a hole, spent $40 on a concrete form, filled it with 800lbs of concrete, and set the base. I also purchased a cover and kept it closed while not in use. The umbrella worked great….until it didn’t. I went out to open it the other day and noticed an obvious lean. I slid up the collar and saw that the entire post was rusted and bent. I am EXTREMELY aggravated not only because I spent hundreds of dollars on this but also spent an entire day of hard labor installing it and now it’s useless after less than three months. I don’t know what kind of cheap materials they are using, but this umbrella is not built to last. Save your money and buy something other than Purple Leaf.

This large shade covers four chairs and two small tables on our patio, making the space more usable during the day and evening. It is effective at shading the area and straight forward to put up and down and to tilt. The color is true to the pictures. It is better to install and site with two people. Communication with the company was excellent and they resolved my question efficiently. I also bought the base and cover so it is stable and protected from the rain storms we get here. I bought sand for the base locally.

We’ve been using this umbrella for about year, it works very well and is a good value. Unfortunately we left it open during an unexpected storm that blew the umbrella over, breaking a main component of the frame. I contacted customer service, they sent me the part with all the hardware free of charge with video instructions on how to install. I very happy with the product and even more impressed by the customer service

Outstanding product. It is easy to assemble, well-made and super easy to operate. We placed it next to our above ground pool, and it can extend out and over the water. It provides a great shade. It is very easy to rotate to follow the sun movement. GREAT PRODUCT for the price.
