Assembly was fairly simple and straightforward. I did it alone but it would have been easier with two people. The only problem I had was that, in order to plug in the solar panel, I had to fish the little connector out of the hole on top of the umbrella, which was far more trouble than I would have liked. This, after I finally realized that the included charging cable was NOT what I was supposed to use to plug in the solar panel. I do wish the instructions included a little more actual written instructions rather than relying on small and not always clear diagrams. However, that was not a huge problem, and the rest of the process went quite smoothly. The pieces fit together easily and are quite solid and sturdy. The umbrella is beautiful and seems to be extremely well made. It only took a few tries to get a feel for all the various ways you can position/tilt the umbrella. Turning on the lights made it even better, it really gives our deck a sort of festive feel! PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HEAVY BASE IS NOT INCLUDED!!! The product description clearly states this, but I saw several other reviews in which people complained that they didn't know. I don't think I would want to try using this umbrella with only the small stand it comes with. You will definitely need the extra base - with that addition I am very pleased with the stability of this fantastic umbrella!

We just got this but So far we are very pleased with this umbrella. It’s beautiful, very hefty and sturdy. The lights are a nice addition. We hope to enjoy this for a long time to come. We bought the Navy Blue 10ft. We could have gone 11ft but the 10 worked fine. Love the Navy color! We used water to fill the base so we will see if that’s good enough. This is not a light umbrella so it needs a heavy weighted base.

I purchased this umbrella, stand and cover this past week. It shipped and was delivered within days a d was packed well. There was a defect on the top cap which connects to the solar panel but when I contacted Emily she immediately sent a replacement part at no cost which I received in a few days. Excellent customer service. So far I'm very pleased with the quality and price of this product. I did extensive research before I purchased it and this company came out on top of all the reviews. Now I can see why. So refreshing to get what you pay for.

I thought it was perfect, but we still don't understand what to do with the base—there's no way to secure it by screwing it into the floor. I would appreciate some tips, or was the base piece needed for support missing?

We bought the 10' x 10' Charcoal colored umbrella in the Spring to provide the shade we needed on our patio. It was functioning fine and took my wife and I about an hour to assemble. The "inside the umbrella" solar lighting is a bonus and a great addition to the umbrella. It's a beautiful umbrella and of good quality. We bought the designated base recommended for it also because it gets windy, as our patio faces West and we are pretty open and vulnerable to the prevailing winds. We unfortunately, had a wind gust that tipped it over and pretty much trashed it beyond repair. We were depressed because we did not buy the extended warranty with it. Regardless, I reached out to Purple Leaf Customer Service Team; explained what happened and showed them some pictures. Despite not buying the extended warranty, Purple Leaf Customer Service offered to replace it and we gladly accepted. We had our replacement umbrella within 10 days if not sooner. We are now enjoying the excellent shade that it provides again. The Customer Service team was excellent and worked with us with professionalism throughout the process. I want to thank them for being courteous and professional and going above and beyond what they were required to do. I see on the customer feedback and photos, that some people permanently affix this umbrella in the ground; good idea. Until I get around to that, I bought some sandbags to weigh the base down which has done the trick in keeping it secure. Of course, it is advisable to close it in windy conditions but sometimes we forget. This is a 5 star umbrella, and their Customer Service Team is above 5 stars. I highly recommend this umbrella for its quality, the ability to provide a massive amount of shade in numerous positions; and if something does go wrong, their Customer Service Team is second to none.
