Wish I had purchased year's ago. I live full-time in rv in tropical climate where lack of shade is always an issue. Used suction cups to attach to back of rv which has made a difference in inside temperature. Btw, suction cups and extra heavy duty alligator clips remain an issue staying attached. Work in progress. Works to give shade over our east-facing deck. We haven't perfectly managed the secure points, so it keeps sagging more than we want. We bought a kit of hardware that helped with initial setup. No bad odor, let's rain through.

Does exactly what you want it to. Block out the sun. We also draped it over our main windows where the sun was most intense to help keep some of the heat out of the house over the summer. Just make sure you have something to attach it to. It does not come with poles or hooks. Just nylon rope.
