  • Not What I Expected - You Must Read this review
Style: Stand Alone Wood
So some background info upfront and first, Tami is my wife. This is her account. I am her husband and I am the one leaving this review as it was "a gift" for me. There was a lot of confusion and sadly even more disappointment with this order and gift. To clarify I was sad and confused. After 20+ years of marriage things get, well you know, routine and very predictable. That said when my wife told me she ordered me a "Banana Hamock" I was elated and thought things were about to get FUNKY FRESH FUN! I imagined a snazzy paisley garment or maybe something in satin or silk. I contained my excitement as I did not want to seem to eager for this gift. You know, play it cool, wait for the gift to arrive and roll with vibe. Well needless to say when the gift arrived I was very disappointed. What came was not a Banana Hamock, Well not what I knew a Banana Hamock to be. This was some sort of Gillian's Island looking fruit storage device. Not a Banana Hamock, am I right guys? I think my wife knew I was disappointed by my melancholy demeanor and speechless response. She of course asked what was wrong and if I liked it. And at that very moment I realized she had no idea about the confusion I had or what I was expecting to get. So at this point I had some choices to make fast. Do I come clean about the confusion I had and tell her (and obviously explain) what I was really expecting. Or do I make up something related to the item that a woman would easily believe and try to sell her on that? Examples of the potential lies I considered were "I thought it would be darker and match the counters better or that does not look like it can hold much fruit" I only had a split second to decide which option to choose, come clean or lie. Well I did what most men that have been married for 20+ years would do, I lied my A** off. I went with the non matching counter line followed with the size reference comment. I am confident she believed me because she responded by saying both of my concerns were ok because this was a gift for me since I eat a banana every morning with breakfast, and the color difference was ok since I would use it so much. Well that totally let the air out of my sails, how do you respond to such a sweet gesture from such an obvious loving and caring woman? Let me tell you how you do, like any married man would, You double down on another lie. This time I thanked her for the thoughtful gift and said I was disappointed that the surprise gift I purchased for her had not arrived yet. Like a true angel she said that it was not necessary and this was something special for me that I would use. Little did she know it was not at all what I was expecting to get and not even close to being used as I had imagined my gift would be used. At my earliest convenience away from her I reviewed her Amazon wish list and ordered some stuff she had on there. Fortunately for me Amazon has protocols in place for sorry husbands like myself, you can "Archive" an order so it does not appear with the recent orders. Unless my wife ever reads this review I will have gotten out of another tight spot with out ever knowing about the confusion. The question I am left with is "why are women so thoughtful, kind, loving and sincere when men are mostly bullheaded, inattentive, ungreatful, hormonal Boys?" ... show more

  • Broke after one day. Unraveled. Poorly made. Garbage
Style: Under Cabinet
String unraveled after ONE day with just a few fruits in it. Total garbage. Poorly made. With a little bit of quality control it could be a great product. Instead it is junk. See all the other reviews where it broke the first day. Someone make a quality version for more money and I’ll buy it. Save your dough, and fruit. ... show more

  • Not sturdy, unraveled twice
Style: Under Cabinet
I was pretty disappointed by this product cuz I was so excited for it. It broke twice. The first time was when I was setting it up and hadn’t put any weight on it yet but the top part unraveled. I was able to fix it and used it without the wooden bar just fine. Then recently one of the sides unraveled and everything fell off but this time I couldn’t fix it cuz it had caused everything to unravel. However, I have not been able to find another hanging produce hammock and I really like the concept of this. I would have it again, now knowing that I need to take the extra step to reinforce the knots so they don’t come undone. ... show more

  • Perfect on a boat
Style: Under Cabinet
We use this to keep fruit from rolling around on the galley counter or getting bruised in a stowage on our boat. We didn’t need the wooden cross piece for our installation. The shorter wooden dowels on the ends of the hammock keep it open on the top so it’s easy to move fruit in and out of it while the deep belly of the hammock keeps fruit from falling out, even in rough seas. ... show more

  • Great storage hammock for small spaces
Style: Under Cabinet
This works great in our RV for kitchen storage of fruit, etc. that doesn’t need to go in the fridge. Keeps the counters less cluttered. I will say that we removed and do not use the wooden rod across it...seems unnecessary and made it too large for the space we put it in. Material feels slightly inexpensive but so far no issues with durability and we’ve had it a year. Overall, we’re very pleased. ... show more

  • Don't buy this! It may look great but it unravels with the weight of fruit!
Style: Under Cabinet
With the first time use, one end unraveled within a few hours of holding our fruit, and spilled & bruised it. It's very poorly made.

  • GARBAGE and will absolutely fall apart in a matter of weeks
Style: Under Cabinet
Complete piece of sh!t. I am beyond mad about these. I ordered one, it broke within 2 months. I ordered 2 more thinking I would replace the one the failed and add an additional elsewhere in my boat since they are the perfect size and concept for what I need. Second one failed within a couple weeks in the exact same place and manner as the first one. Hung the third and guess what, less than 2 months later it is also failed in the exact same place and manner as the first 2. such a waste of my time and money and enormous frustration. FAILURE POINT: the side hanging point where the cordage meets and loops around the wooded down comes unraveled and drops slowly, eventually falling off all together. There is no way (reasonably) to wind and weave the cordage back together and secure the lash. DON'T BUY THESE, its literally the same as throwing money in the trash. ... show more

  • Not sturdy at all.
Style: Under Cabinet
Very cheaply made. The rope has snapped twice in the exact same spot. The first time happened within an hour of installing it in my van. I returned it and received another one. The second one snapped and I just decided to tie it together instead of returning it. As you can see by the pic it isn’t loaded with stuff. Two bananas, three mandarin oranges and an avocado. The photo on the box it comes in shows it loaded with much more than that. ... show more
