I have been searching and searching for the best Hutch for Guinea Pigs . Only to keep running into Hutches for Other small animals . And any reviews that I came across that were about guinea pigs none came with a video to show them using the upper level. And there were more bad reviews then there were good as far as quality and sturdiness. But out of all the hutches, I came across ,this one was a better fit as far as size and looks. I like the fact that it comes with a little ramp leading out of the hutch.. because my idea for it was to put an additional play area/run . So I like the fact that it has a ramp for them to come in and out of their hutch freely . I have to say the majority of the reviews make his hutch look like trash. As do all the other makes and models from different sellers. So the fact that I could not find any other hutch that could accommodate my guinea pigs except for this one, I decided to give it a shot. I mean how bad can it be if it is rated Amazon’s best seller, right? So to begin, it did arrive very fast as stated in the reviews . I was also very relieved that mine did not come damaged. It is as nice as it looks in the descriptions. One review from a customer that was using it for guinea pigs stated that it was a waste because the ladder for the top level is to steep that guinea pig did not want to go up to the top level. This is what I almost made me not buy it. Until I read other reviews from customers who did like the Hutch make small adjustments to accommodate their pets. The ramp to the upper level is way too steep. I couldn’t even see how a rabbit or any other small animals would even enjoy this. But !! With a little creative thinking you can make it work. The hardware used to attach it are little hinges, allowing it to move up or down. This is where creative thinking comes in.. The question of durability ? For indoor use : It’s perfect !! For outdoor use? I don’t think it could withstand being in the elements, such as rain and direct heat/sunlight Stated in the reviews the wood is soft. It won’t last long . However, if you’re using it on a porch or a carport (outdoors) it will do great . Responding to the reviews on the price : here is food for thought . The picture I shared of the plastic wire cage is an example of what I had for my guinea pigs to begin with when they were babies. It cost me 140 bucks at a pet supermarket. To small for two grown Guinea pigs / or for any small animal such as a rabbit, or ferret, which is what they advertise it for. This hutch is well worth the money. It’s nicer to the eyes. and obviously larger. Quality / there’s no comparison. One is plastic and wire/ the other being this hutch, is wood. animals, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and even ferrets are not meant to be in cages or hutches. They are wild animals who have endless amounts of space to live in their natural habitat. So with that in mind, these hutches and Cages should only be a means of shelter for sleeping Not used for 24/7 living quarters. None of these cages or hutches give them enough space to live, or run . So if your intention for buying this for your pet is for 24/7 Living . You will experience the bad reviews such as rabbits chewing through the wood or wire. Imagine for a moment being cooped up in a small space 24/7 . Eventually, they’re gonna wanna chew their way out. For anybody looking to use this for guinea pigs. I left the bottom grates out so that it’s just the plastic pan. I have my guinea pigs potty trained. I do not use litter in their whole living space.. I use waterproof padding they sell for Guinea pigs. Because although they are potty trained, they will still pee here in there outside of the litter pan. But if you potty train them, they will pee the majority of the time. In the litter pan. Just a tip to minimize how much cleaning hast to be done. For guinea pigs pooping is inevitable. everywhere but it’s way easier to clean then pee. So a litter pan is a great addition to their habitat. Same goes for rabbits YouTube and Google has great tips on the “new” way of caring for your small friends. Old-school way with just having them in a cage with just litter. It keeps their habitat clean and if you are thinking of purchasing this hutch it will last you and your furry pets a long time. And make cleaning a whole lot easier. Also, when ordering any kind of furniture online, there will always be a chance of receiving damaged goods. This hutch is no exception. So don’t let the reviews scare you. And hopefully everything that I shared Will give you a better idea on whether or not this product will be suitable for your pets needs. As you can see my girls love it !! And I am very happy I made the choice to give this product a chance Update : my guinea pigs were not too interested with the upper level until I made it their Kitchen/feeding area. Otherwise they didn’t have an interest to go up to the top level but now they are so confident and cute when they race up the ladder to get their food.😁.

Edit: While I was initially unsatisfied, customer service was able to help me out and even give me about a 10% reimbursement on my purchase. Thank you to those who work at Aivituvin for your services! This cage, while it’s pretty, isn’t quite suitable for my messy little rabbit. It only didn’t take too long to assemble, and I thought it would be easier to clean than it actually was. The bottom tray does not slide out easily, and putting it back in is even harder. I don’t know if it’s because it’s made of wood, or if it’s the shape of it, or whatever else could be causing it, but it’s somewhat of a hassle. As for the actual cleaning process, rabbit urine sticks to the plastic bottom of the tray, and it takes some scrubbing to get it out, however, this may be a different circumstance for some, based on what you’re feeding your rabbit, where it wants to do its business, etc. My rabbit has chosen a specific corner he likes to pee in, so it cakes on and makes it a bit harder to clean up, although it’s cleaned frequently. I think it’s easier to clean the bottom out with a scoop as well, instead of trying to take it out and dumping the waste somewhere, so I also put paper bedding in the bottom of it. On the topic of my rabbit’s… “special” corner, since there aren’t any real borders in place at the bottom of the actual cage area, his excrement leaks out over the sides and onto the floor, so I’m constantly having to sweep and mop that area. I’ve tried putting things in that corner, so that maybe he’d do his business somewhere else, but to no avail. He just does it on whatever I put in the corner instead. He’s got an actual litter box too, since I often let him out to roam the room when I’m not at work, but ever since I got him this cage, he prefers to do it in there instead for some reason. These issues, however, might not be something others will face, and might just be an issue with my rabbit. The cage itself is sturdy, but several things on it have broken, such as the little ramp on the outside, and the hay tray for the top portion. That was within a month of having the cage. My bunny ripped the hay tray off of the cage wall somehow. As for the ramp, the hooks didn’t seem to stay in it, and that was the condition it had arrived in. The fact that it’s made of wood is also somewhat of a problem, because it absorbs liquid somewhat easily and will start to stink after a while, and I didn’t really think of that before buying it. All in all, I’d say this cage could be a very good product, depending on the rabbit. I’ve read the other reviews which is why I bought this one in the first place, and most of the customers seem quite satisfied with their purchase! My advice is that you get to know your rabbit’s behavior before you buy this cage, and probably don’t put it on carpet just in case.

Updated Review:I left a review on this product. While I was aware of others complaints; I purchased this product anyway. Those compaints were founded. I have 2 six-week old lion head bunnies that I bought this product for; they seem to by happy with it. I put the product together myself, without help. Basically, I used the pictures to make it work. The Cons The product had rusty nails The letters did not corrospond with the piece it was supposed to be Wood was split in a few different places. The wiring is not sturdy. The animals do chew on the wood - it would be nice if the wood was treated prior to purchase to keep them from chewing on it and to help it withstand outside weather. Unable to clean cage without taking the rabbits out. The rabbits nails scratching on the floor keeps the family up while they play. The positives: I like the color and design of the cage. I like that it has brakes and rolls (easy for moving the cage without upsetting the animals and to clean under it). I like it has 2 floors - so the bunnies have plenty of room to play. The cage is kept in doors - in my room. So it conserves space. I like it has doors on both levels and the top opens. The cage has a bed, food, water, and litter boxes on both levels. So, not perfect but it works for us. I have added a metal feeder on the lower floor (for oats and pellets) which I had to cut the wires to fit it, They have a hay feeder added to the first floor and water bottles on both floors. Cage was more sturdy once put together but definately NOT a good cage for outdoors. Their response: Hi Kaise, We are so appreciate for your kindly suggestions and it do help us a lot ! The Cons The product had rusty nails We will change the supplier for the metal fitting in furture products by using stainless steel. First impression what positive. Until I began to unbox the product. I became immediately obvious that we too fell victim to the common critique of broken or “cheap” pieces. We had two panels that came in where the boards had been broken, either during shipping or packing. To say I was frustrated is minor but I was expecting this to happen based on the number of comments that complained of the same. I was able to fix them with some Titebind III glue and a couple of brad nails. Other than the broken pieces, we are a fan of the hutch. My son helped me assemble it for his siblings rabbits. It took two of us about 20 minutes. I’m not sure how anyone could think it would be good for outdoor use. The wood is too weak to be able to withstand the elements for very long. That being said, it is PLENTY strong for rabbits. So I can’t fault the company for using the grade of materials they did. Some reviews complained about the quality of mesh in the hutch. It is half inch mesh that will work for small to medium rabbits I would think. Probably not for some of the giant breeds, but I’m guessing if you have one of those you’d be getting something larger anyway. This holds our two mini lops just fine with plenty of room to spare. The mesh panels on the bottom level are in two pieces and can be removed easily. We liked the attachment of mesh to the wood in this spot as they used an additional layer of strap to ensure the weight of the rabbits doesn’t pull the mesh off, very wise. It’s located on the underside of the panel so the rabbits cannot get to it to tear it up. The one thing I will say I was a little disappointed in was that the upper layer did not have a screen floor. I thought maybe the manufacturer left ours out (the broken pieces shook my faith in them), but after reading the directions I noticed there is not one included at all. It’s not a deal breaker for us as the rabbits generally use the upper floor as a place to lay down on soft material. Ours are litter box trained so they rarely have accidents up there and we don’t really need to move that tray in or out anyway. I also thought the clear lidded area raised but it does not. It is secured to the top of the cage. Not a deal breaker at all but I may add a hinge on it at some point to make picking up rabbits a little easier. Trying to reach into the lower levels to get a rabbit that needs to be moved for cleaning or a vet trip can be a pain as the doors are great size for rabbits....not people. The sliding trays fit nicely, it takes a bit to move them in and out at first as the slide is simply wood on wood so there is some friction. The tray insert material is pretty solid, not a cheap thin plastic tray. Not that I think that particularly matters (again, it doesn’t need to be Ft Knox to hold our little bunnies accidents) but it is probably the highest quality and durable material in the hutch. One piece of advice: if you are going to be using the castor wheels that come along with it....install them first. The instructions have them installed last and it requires the whole hutch to be turned upside down to do. It isn’t that heavy and flipping it isn’t an issue, but given the softer wood the hutch is made out we chose not to risk flipping it over and potentially breaking it. We left the castors off and it turned out even better as it only leaves about an inch of space between the bottom of the floor and the cage. The castors would have raised it up to about 2.5-3 inches and that wouldn’t work for our rabbits. We have one that likes to squeeze into small spaces and I was not about to have to try and get her out from under it every time I wanted to pull the tray to clean. Overall, we are pleased with the hutch. The look and the functionality of it. The hutch looks really good and the rabbits love to move between the levels. I would recommend it to others if they have smaller rabbits. I would also give it more stars if it wasn’t for the broken pieces. I would say that this should only be an indoor hutch however. To withstand the elements, the company will need to beef up the wood a bit.

I was a bit iffy after purchasing and seeing the reviews My biggest problem was just FedEx lying about attempting to deliver I live in an apartment complex on the second floor 3 days I had to stay home and cancel my appointments due to package arriving and on those 3 days they were too lazy to deliver my purchase, I'm assuming they were too lazy. I found out it was the same driver so requested a new driver and finally got my package, yes all beat up but thankfully nothing was damaged. Yes came a bit dirty but nothing I cant wipe off. The smell was more like fabuloso cleaner didnt bother me at all I'm use to that smell since I mop almost daily. Yes it's not good quality wood but for the price Its decent. Building it was easy just got confused for a bit with part E wasnt sure which side until I saw the ramp support so it's common sense i guess. The hinges would get stuck a bit but nothing that cant be fix WD-40! Just spray a lil on the parts that fold and wala.. it's like a door not being used they dry up and then start squeaking. I did a couple changes myself.. the wheels I put the break ones in front since I move them around and would be alot easier for me. And the hay holder just screw it the opposite side I'm sure my guineas dont mind the screws exposed.. I sure did mind tho. And the real test was with my guineas I have 3 thankfully they are smart and to know how to walk up and down a ramp and for extra security added a small flexible ramp I found at petsmart. Oh and yes a bit dark but I knew the moment I saw the picture.. so I installed on the roof a motion detection light removable and chargeable that I found at home depot. Other than that I'm happy and so are my guineas!

After having this cage for a month, I thought I'd leave a review. The cage came damaged, chips and split wood. I contacted the seller, but they said they did not have replacement parts to send and instead reimbursed most of my shipping. Luckily, my husband could fix the cage enough to make it usable. We did not have time to wait for another. Cons: Even though the trays pull out to clean them, it still is not so easily cleaned. So much poop gets stuck along the edges of the wood and wire. The back corner near the ramp is the worst, and it is very difficult to reach. An access door on the back would be most beneficial to clean there. The tallest door on front could be wider, too. My bunnies, like most critters, like corners to do their duties. Their pee does NOT stay inside the cage to go into the tray. The back corner near the ramp always has pee on my floor when I clean the cage. Yes, they have a litter box and use it quite often, but I cannot fit a litter box in that corner because of the ramp. We are trying to make something to put there to block this. The edges of the pull out tray are not completely covered with the plastic, so a lot of their waste does get on the wood, which is not as easy to clean. The wood absorbs urine, which makes it smell. You have to tke the rabbits out to clean the cage. I read a review from a couple of years ago that had the same complaint, and the seller said that they upgraded it with a door to keep the rabbits in one sec while cleaning....it does not have a door. The ramp is extremely steep and slick. The rabbits often crash into the wire at the bottom of the ramp when coming down. The hay feeder screws are too small. Yes, they were scured properly. The hay feeder was knocked off within a couple of days. Thankfully, they did not eat the screws since they fell onto the cage floor! Pros: It does look nice and is ok on space. The wheels are great for moving it around. The top opening is the best. ***UPDATE*** AFTER only 8 months, the cage fell apart for many reasons. The wood is too soft, the rabbits chewed the wood, and the wood absorbed everything (pee). It didn't last, so I would jot recommend this cage for rabbits.

I (a 120lb girl) assembled it by myself without difficulty. There were no damage and it feels very sturdy. My baby bun as already started chewing the ramp, but he hasn't gotten sick or anything. He likes to pee in the corner and I'm a little worried about the wood holding up, but only time will tell. Out of the three latches one works how it should, but it doesn't bother me. My dad added another latch to each door and the roof so I can add locks, with a drill there was no wood splitting. Cleaning is really easy too, but the roof sheds asphalt like crazy every time I open it. I'm very happy with it over all and wish I could get a mirrored version and put them together. I'd buy it again if I could figure out how to do it or if they built one. UPDATE (3 new pictures) I still love this hutch. I deep cleaned it and took some new pictures so you can see the destruction a bunny can do in 2 months. Over all not bad. He chewed the stairs and the right side but I think hes stopped now that he has new chew toys. He is young (almost 3 months) but is pretty good at using the litter box, except he still trys to pee in the corner by the stairs which is damaging the wood a bit and leaks under the hutch. I'd definitely recommend a waterproof pad for underneath so you don't damage your floor. Still highly recommend this hutch!

I lined the bottom floor with Oxbow Timothy Hay mats. It's easier on the bunnies feet, I can easily flip them up to drop any droppings to the tray below, it looks nice, and provides extra food and entertainment for the bunny. The ramp to the second floor is not great. I put a $3 felt blanket on it. It's too slippery otherwise. For the price, I think the company could put pieces of carpet on it to make it more rabbit friendly. We were careful with the torque on the drill when assembling as to not split the wood. It did come damaged (the asphalt roof was a bit pushed in). We aren't planning to put it outside so not a big concern but still.... The paint job is not great. I love all the doors. The bunny seems to like it and I would purchase again although I think some improvements could be made for the price. The bunnie's name is Oreo. 🙂
