  • Adorable
Best chicken coop. It went together in a "snap" (pun intended). My husband and I put it together in less than an hour. Our ladies live it and there's room for more. We plan to add to 2 hens to our flock for a total of 5, but 6 would fit comfortably.

  • Very excited!
This coop is SUPER easy to assemble! To less than an hour, including the time laying out all the pieces to make sure they were all there. The stands almost done, which adds significant weight and we'll get a couple of dog runs for the enclosure to protect them but give them lots of scratching ground. I can't wait to get my girls into their castle! ... show more

  • Great design and easy to assemble
This product was so easy to assemble that my 13-year-old and eight-year-old put it together. They finished in about an hour. The packaging was terrific. One review said that the roofing bar came out and killed one of their chickens. I have a hard time believing that, but just in case they are right the manufacturer now recommends screwing The roosting bars to the outside walls as a preventative measure so that should never happen again. Some of the components were a tight snug, but you want a tight snug to keep the predators out and the chickens in. Having a block of wood and a hammer handy for a few light taps when you are assembling was helpful for us to help in the assembly of some of the particularly tight pieces. I do recommend building the wooden base using the instructions found on the manufacturers website in order to help support the coop and prevent the base from becoming deformed I also recommend raising the base up to a comfortable height (for us it was about 27 Inches), and using 4 x 4 as your legs to increase the total mass of the assembly so that it is more stable in the event of a heavy windstorm. We also removed the door to the coop, installed a wood shroud around the door, and connected the run chicken solar powered automatic door opener. It works great too. I appreciate that the design will not deteriorate or rot and does not require any painting or regular upkeep. We are looking forward to many years of service with this coop. ... show more

  • 4 years later - still the best homestead item I've purchased
It doesn't matter how hot (over 100*f) or how cold (-24*f) this coop has kept my chickens in safety and in temps that they can tolerate without ill effects. I've bought other plastic coops - they break, they weather...and I've had my birds have comb issues from the cold. The coop can fit 11 heirloom breeds at once, but ideally is more of a 6-9 sized unit. The plastic hasn't faded, it hasn't warped, and it remains the easiest of all my coops to clean. It is secure from predators, can be locked even further for additional safety, and I sleep easy knowing my girls are safe and sound. I haven't attempted to put an automatic door on my unit, so that might be the only downside, but frankly I am just the kind of crazy chicken lady who likes to make sure her girls go in at night and all are healthy in the morning. That you can also collect the eggs without disrupting anyone who is roosting (plus I've had birds decide to go broody in the middle of the worst part of the summer in a desert, and while they look miserable, this coop has kept them from harm). Such an A++ unit that the last time it went on sale I purchased a second to try building a chicken tractor with. If you are looking for a coop, it's this one. I'll be your magic Amazon fairy and just tell you, it's worth the cost. Would you rather replace a coop ever 1-2 years because they break or warp, or just have one that stands the test of time? Exactly. ... show more

  • THE PERFECT CHICKEN COOP
Don't miss out on this coop!! Your chickens will thank you!! We bought this coop 6 years ago and is still going strong. It's been thru cold snowy winters and hot steamy summers here in Central Pa. It keeps the chickens warm thru the winter, and doesn't get too hot for them in the summer( it is in the shade). It's sturdy and has kept our flock safe from predators all this time. It is super easy to keep clean, just dump the two trays regularly. Hubby and I were talking about how good it has lasted us, so I decided to come back and leave a review for it since we are still soo happy with it 6 years later!!! ... show more

  • Good coop. Some small issues
I have had this coop for two years now and it is holding up fairly well. I live in Minnesota which has extreme weather changes from 95 degrees down to -15 degrees and the coop has held up to those nicely. Pros: - The layout of the coop is good with the nesting boxes, adjustable roosting bars and slide out litter panel/drawers - Accessing eggs is easy - Cleaning out the litter is slick and works well - The plastic resin is easy to clean - Durable so far Cons: - Product descriptions says 4-6 large birds and 6-12 bantams. I have 4 large birds and it is JUST big enough for them. - When in extreme heat if the coop isn't perfectly level it will start to warp ever so slightly which made the litter access panel underneath stick slightly. I have since better leveled the coop and it seems to have corrected itself. The roof has also sagged due to the heat, but appears to be only an aesthetic issue. - If you want to install an automatic door there is only one expensive option available on the market. My 4 hens have a bit of a pecking order and the size of the coop not quite being ideal for that number of chickens has resulted in one bird being kicked off the roosting bar and she sleeps on the bottom of the coop. ... show more
