This bedding has been great and I recommend it for the following reasons: it has been perfect for my turkeys, ducks & chickens. It has small enough pieces to make a soft bedding, but large enough that my birds don't continuously try to eat it like other bedding's I've tried. The packaging is strong and withstands Portland's exstensive rain. I keep it in a covered area outside until I need it. We also used this for our Chinchilla and she has adapepted to it perfectly. It absorbs extremely well and seems to keep bad odors down, and those who raise ducks know this is a big deal. It also composts VERY well when used up. The 40 liters is too little amount for my coop, but as a suppliment for areas that get exposed or lighter coverage due to animals digging, this is a wonderful bedding to fill in those needs. For smaller cage animals, its perfect, for larger coops... you're going to need a lot more than 40 liters, but I give it 5* overall. ... show more

Really a better product than any other bedding I have tried in my chicken coop. It absorbs fluid and odors and has cut down on the flies tremendously! Will continue to buy.

We have been using this product for more than half a year and have nothing but really good things to say for it, if you keep chickens as we do. (We keep 50 here in a 17'x42' coup on a 6" rebar and concrete slab.) We use the usual straw bales from our local feed store. But we do experience a lot of rain and moisture and are finding this material to be an important part of what we do here. We will continue to purchase the product from this supplier or another that can produce a similar product. It's a valuable addition. If you have fewer chickens or a smaller environment to deal with, I'd have no question at all. It's GREAT! Just do it! It is only when you are in the size range we are in, or larger, where cost factors become more of an issue to consider. But this truly is a great product if you are dealing with areas of moisture, for example. It is great, generally, too. So don't get me wrong about that. But especially when moisture problems crop up, this is a great product to try out to see how it works for you. I have nothing but good things to say about the supplier. We've received the product in reasonable time and we consider the price to be acceptable, as well. So I am very happy they are there and helping us out. I know it isn't easy for what they do, either. I got the hemp bedding since it’s natural and can be put in my garden beds, I have been using it in my chicken brooder for a week now. There has been no smell, easy to clean up. The reason I give it a 4 out of 5 is because it isn’t as soft as pine shavings or other options. So far I like it, but as far as comfort goes I might be trying out other options. ... show more

The weight should be in pounds, not liters. The conversion table indicated it would be 80 some pounds. HA! When we put the box of 4 bags on the scale, it was just under 10 pounds. So for $50, it wasn't worth it. We needed enough to do a chicken coop. What a rip off!

This hemp bedding popped up when I searched guinea pig bedding and I decided to try it. Did not work for us unfortunately. The odor of their cage was immediately noticeably within a day (stinky) compared to other products we use. Was not absorbing/masking waste smells. The consensus from the family is a big no. We absolutely love this bedding for our diamond dove! It’s clean, soft, and does a great job controlling odor, which makes a big difference for a small bird enclosure. It’s also low dust, which is really important for their sensitive respiratory systems. It is a bit on the expensive side, but honestly, you don’t need to use very much at all. A little goes a long way, so one bag lasts much longer than you’d expect, making it worth the price in the long run.
