Can easily be assembled in 30-45 minutes. Wood and wire are cheap, but it’s not like you are trying to confine a lion. I glued the joints/connecting panels to improve the strength. We bought this hutch for our Rex rabbit who had previously been in a very large pen. The assembly was easy and parts well made. The fir wood smell was minimal and actually pleasant. Our Rex doesn't chew on the hutch since we provide it many chew toys. The wire is thin but strong enough to easily hold water bottles and feeders. The top access doors are very helpful and make cleaning easy. We don't bother pulling out the trays. We shopped around for rabbit hutches at Tractor Supply, PetSmart, and Rural King but this one is much nicer, built better, and less expensive. I'm very pleased with no regrets. ... show more

    • Decent Hutch - 3 ferrets
The media could not be loaded. First to address some issues I saw in other reviews: - No overwhelming odor on arrival. Maybe a little woodsy but nothing offensive or really noticeable. - Hardware is fine except the latch for the tops. Basically a soda can tab. - Easy to put together alone. Took me about 2 hours and yes you need to know how to read odd instructions but I didn’t have to go back any steps. - Some staining from normal use but it’s a light color so it just needs to be wiped regularly. - Trays aren’t too shallow unless you’re using litter perhaps but I imagine most rabbit poop would be fine depending on what you put down underneath your bunnies. Ferret poop has not been an issue (on puppy pads). - Likely not weatherproof. I don’t see this doing well in moisture. My thoughts: - It aesthetically pleasing. It brightens up my ferrets’ room and stops it from looking like a storage room (which my old monstrosity of a ferret nation cage definitely gave the vibe of). After about a month I was willing to sell my ferret nation because I was happy with it. - Chicken Wire initially wasn’t a fan of but it’s fine. My ferrets weigh less than 6 lbs altogether and it’s supports them fine and my 8 lb cat has jumped on top without issue. - Climbing isn’t scary. My ferrets used to climb their old cage and it scared me. This one is low enough that they’d likely be fine if they popped off it, but they use furniture and the window ledge to climb up and down. - No odor sticking. Main concern was the ferret smell leeching into the wood but I’ve detected no odor except from their litter area. However, if your pet doesn’t use their litter areas appropriately it could be a problem. - I wouldn’t recommend this for animals if they don’t free roam. It’s too small for anything but a safety area and sleeping. My ferrets didn’t use like 60% of their ferret nation since they have an entire room, and they use this to sleep, lay in their hammocks, and have a pooping spot. There’s not enough room for them to run around inside, but for short periods of time when I do need to contain them they’re fine. - I wouldn’t recommend this for rodents. No ratties or Guinea pigs. ... show more

    • For the price point decent piece
I had no trouble assembling this myself today, it took me all of 35 minutes, of course I was supervised by my Rottweiler, she made sure it was done right, it also helped having tons of IKEA furniture building experience. I made sure to use the predrilled holes when putting on the ladder bracket, I had no trouble getting the pan in afterwards. I had a gouge in one of the frame pieces but it's inside so not overly visible. All in all for the price point it is a decent piece. Directions are very clear and easy to follow. My Guinea Pigs are loving all the room they have now. The latches on the top doors are as others have stated and flimsy but I placed the loop far enough down and that made it tighter, won't come open on its own for sure. I had recently got a guinea pig from my step brother who found my guinea pig bailey on the side of the road she was in a small sized cage and i knew i could provide better for her so i spent $145 on this cage after reading reveiws i was spectical and i decided to take the risk and buy it it took a few days to arrive and when it did i thought i was gonna be smaller than advertised and got worried however i got to building it and started to realise it was bigger than what i thought it was but it is an amazing size for her i had 4 animals before getting her and a medium sized room my dog takes up most of the room with his cage but i rearanged my room to fit everyone its a perfect fit and i love the color of the cage nothing came broken the holes for the latches are not predrilled i had a somewhat of a hard time putting the holes in but worth the time it took me a total of 3 hours to build and set up her cage but so worth the time and energy i really do recomend this cage i love it and shes ajusting to it i hope this helps all the other specticle people ... show more

Honestly I was a little iffy about it based on reviews but my product arrived undamaged. Also just be careful using a drill if you do cuz where it is thin it can mess up so even on the lowest setting of the drill it’s possible. If you don’t know how to use a drill than have someone who does. Overall it’s a great product just goes to show you can’t always trust reviews cuz not everyone knows what they are talking about or what to do. Wood was In good shape also. I’d buy it again. I would recommend yo anyone who needs a hutch. Like I said before be careful when drilling cuz it’s not their fault if it does break because that would be a user error not the company. Understanding that and you should be fine. It was fairly easy for my husband to put together. It comes with instructions. It is fairly sturdy. No complaints. ... show more
