  • The PERFECT hamster cage
After purchasing 3 different cages for my Syrian hamster, all of them were somehow not working out. The United States doesn't have great options when it comes to housing Syrians. Some of the larger cages I found had questionable bar spacing towards the tops or the closures weren't secure. I got so fed up one morning that I said screw it and ordered this cage at noon and to my surprise it arrived at 7pm that same day! I was hesistant to place the order because I thought the price for this cage was way too high! In reality this cage is perfection for my Syrian hamster, Stella. She had been chewing on bars and anxiously pacing her other cages. Some of the cages were the same length as this Hamster Heaven, but not nearly as fun. The assembly was a bit time consuming, but I actually enjoy assembling things. It was not on IKEA level annoying. It did take me 1 beer and an hour of my Life. But as soon as I introduced my little Stella to her cage she was SO happy! This cage includes everything you will possibly need. A wheel, two hideouts perfect for sleeping, two sets of stairs, tunnels, water bottle, 2 food bowls and even a little loft and separate "potty" with litter and scooper! I ended up replacing the wheel with the one my hammy is already used to, plus it's way more quiet than the one it comes with. But if I had to, I'd make the one included work. It has been 3 days and my hamster has not even once begun chewing on her bars. This cage is exceptionally built and ready to entertain your little pet. Plenty of room to run around, areas to play, the tub is deep enough to fill with lots of bedding to burrow and hide no mess either and the enclosures, hinges and locks are VERY well made. I don't have to worry anymore about my hamster trying to escape or getting hurt in the process. This cage is not too high and not too narrow, not to mention the bar spacing is JUST perfect. My little Stella isn't fully grown yet, so this was my dilemma in picking a cage big enough for her to grow and yet accessible enough for her petite size. Did it hurt me a little to have to shell out extra for this cage? Sure. Does it give me peace of mind and joy to see my little fur baby happy and safe? Definitely! You won't regret getting this new home for your hammy. It is luxury living for your tiny companion. ... show more

  • Great investment for your ham!!!
This is going to be a LONG review just because I have a lot of good things to say about this cage!! And a few cons, of course. First, the PROS: I am first gonna start with how MASSIVE this cage is!!! In one of the pictures I compared my old cage to this new one, and the size difference is beyond comparison. I can't even believe that I had my poor Hammy Styles in that tiny cage for so long. Because my Hammy Styles is a white winter dwarf hamster, she had a little difficulty going up and down the tubes/tunnels when they were originally set up to match the manual, so i McGyver'ed it a little and made it so she can still access her green hideout but its more of a gradual incline, since she's so little :) But I was really happy to see that you can kinda set things up how you want to in order to best cater to your ham :') The little green hideaway at the top is great, Hammy isn't quite used to it yet but I'm sure that spot will eventually become a favorite nap spot. The green and pink floating levels are great, and I love that there are food bowls on each one AND a snuggly igloo, my Hammy LOVES them! I plan on adding a little wooden bridge to connect the two floors, just to add some extra fun for her. As for the green and pink "ladders" (slides), she did struggle a bit at first trying to go up, because they're steep and slippery, but after a few tries she got it! She's a little dwarf hamster and was able to get up the little ladders, so I don't see Syrians or larger sized hamsters having any problem with them. Because I didn't configure the tubes as the manual did, I closed off the two holes at the top of the cage using the caps that were provided with the package! (Love that they were included). I used some of the leftover tubes as toys on the bottom floor of the cage, and my Hammy couldn't be happier. The litter box is so cute, we're only on day 2 of the cage so Hammy hasn't quite started using it yet, but it's still a nice little nook. In one of the pictures I tried to get a good picture of Hammy but she's so excited about her new cage that she can't stop running around everywhere and exploring! (Hence the cute fluffy grey blur XD ) Now I know that this cage isn't totally perfect, so here are my CONS: The wheel is not great, just because the stand isn't high enough, so the wheel pushes into the bedding, making it impossible to spin. Because of this, I just used my old hamster wheel, but this isn't a big deal. I also used my old water bottle just because the one I had was better quality than the one in the package, but again, not a big deal. Also this one is IMPORTANT (!!!!): the big gate of the cage needs to be locked in TWO NOTCHES, not one. Having only one notch creates a big gap in the cage that could enable your ham to escape!! However, it's really easy to notice, and it almost becomes second nature putting the gate onto the second notch. This cage was a litttlleeeee frustrating to put together, but use a gentle hand and it's fine :) And it's totally worth it too!! Seeing how happy my little Hammy Styles is ALREADY makes this (expensive) purchase totally worth it :)) Go spoil your hammy!!!! ... show more

  • Great hamster cage!
I have had this cage for about a month now, and my dwarf hamsters(1 mother and 7 babies) love this! Overall, it is very sturdy. I love the depth of the base of the cage because it allows my hamsters to dig in deep bedding, which they love to do. The tubes are a little difficult to connect but stay together very well. It is a bit hard for my dwarf hamsters to use the tubes because they are a little tall for their tiny selves, but they make it work. The two platforms are great, my only complaint is that the green slope thingamajig is too steep for my hamsters, so they would just crawl along the bars to get to the pink platform. My last cage cleaning, I did manipulate the setup of the platforms so the pink platform is directly over the green one. I took out the green slope and now my hamster just move their way around to get to the upper platform. I would recomend forgoing the setup of the platforms in the picture and placing the pink one over the green one, it makes the cage look a lot less crowded in my opinion. The huts are nice quality, a little difficult to place in their slots but doable! The pink feeding bowl is great, perfect size for up to 3 of my hamsters to sit in and eat together. The blue one is a little small, but I do fill it. I have not used the water bottle that this comes with, but the holder does not seem very sturdy. The wheel spins well, however, it is soo loud. The base is flimsy but if attached to the wall the wheel is fine. All of my hamsters use the toilet, which is a huge plus for me. I have not used the "litter" it comes with because I feel that bathing sand is a better option because I see it as more natural. The penthouse is a favorite of my mother hamster's, especially because her babies cannot get up to it yet! She'll bring some up on occasion, but I love that it gives her a space that is her own. This cage is very spacious. I love how easily you can change it up as well! For example, if you do not want to add the tubes or the penthouse, it comes with accessories that allow you to do so. I knocked down my rating by a star because of how time-consuming it is to clean. My hamsters do love this cage and are so much happier with everything that it has to offer. If you do buy this cage, please make sure that when you close it, you are putting the latch on the SECOND gap. Not the first! If you do not put it on the second gap, it will leave plenty of space for your hamster to squeeze out! Overall, amazing cage. ... show more

  • It's PERFECT
Okay here's the scoop! I don't usually write long reviews but I really wrestled with this purchase due to the hefty price. I know others are wondering so I wanted to review it well. I have bought three other cages and quickly realized they were cruel and too small for my Syrian (who's a chubby gal.) Had I bought this cage size sooner and spent the money I would've saved about 150 dollars and the room in my shed that is holding three empty hamster cages! This cage is BIG. It's PERFECT for a Syrian and would be even roomier for a smaller size hamster like the dwarfs. The bar spacing is small and perfect. All the reviews speaking about cheap, broken parts...I didn't find. It came over pacakaged in my opinion and everything was well built, just don't hulk grip the tubes and take your time! The directions are pictures only but it doesn't take a rocket scientist. My son is 9 and helped me and he told me "it's like building legos, study the pictures before you move on." So, a nine year old can build this cage. THE ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE is the top house and tubing. I've included pictures of this issue so you can see. If you use wood chips or any bedding in the top house that is loose it'll fall into the tube and potentially trap your hamster in the house. The chips fall in and the hamster can't pass. I wish the tube jutted out from the side of the house so chips didn't fall down into it. I solved this by using some fleece from my guinea pig house and making a little "rug." My hamster digs at it but it won't go through the tube and I can wash it. Problem solved. The little built in huts are neat, my girl is pretty chunky but she fits still. A smaller hamster would love them. You could put treats or a sand bath in them. The litter box...my hamster could care less. This could be used a sand bath too but I put food and seed mix in it. She climbs in like a sit in buffet. The inserted play shelves can all be removed and you can design this cage how ever you want, there's so much room the possibility is endless. The slide and ladder are smooth but my hamster can use them easily with the raised ladder "steps." I like that the top wire portion isn't super tall, my Syrian needs floor space not vertical climbing room to heaven. My wire wheel hung perfectly (she pees in plastic ones and makes a gross a mess so I didn't use the wheel included.) The water bottle doesn't leak, the cage is sturdy and everything is secure. For those saying their hamsters escaped, I would be willing to bet it was because the tube housing wasn't properly snapped to the wire cage top and they slipped out at the base of the tube. Snap and wiggle everything to ensure it's secured before letting your little critter free in the cage. Great product!! Look no further. They don't sell anything this good or big in pet stores. They should because the cages they sell are cruel! TOTALLY worth the money even though it's a shame companies charge this much! ... show more

  • The best hamster cage I ever owned
Ever since I was in middle school, I've had pet hamsters. I've owned this cage for a few years now. I prefer cages to tanks because they have more ventilation, but it's hard to find suitable cages that aren't tiny. This hamster cage is HUGE! It is very spacious. The bottom of the cage is deep and can fit lots of bedding for them to burrow in. The cage itself has room for many toys and hides. The platforms on each side offer even more room to place toys on. They have two built in food bowls as well as a ladder and slide for them to climb up on. It's easy to install hanging chews and hammocks from the bars on the top. Putting the cage together was a little challenging, specifically the tubes. Snapping them on and off takes a good amount of force. Cleaning is also hard because my hamster would stuff the tubes up with bedding, and taking the tubes apart and putting them back together can be difficult. After a while, I replaced the wheel that comes with the cage to a larger one. The one that you get with this cage squeaks and is too small for a Syrian hamster to run on without arching their backs. The water bottle that came with it leaked, so I replaced that one too. My hamster's favorite spot is definitely the little loft on top. He fills it up with bedding and brings his food up to stash in the corner. ... show more

  • A cage for your hamster to thrive
We did a lot of research before getting our daughter a hamster, and we wanted a cage in which the hamster would have all the things it needs: food and water, activities, exercise, enrichment, and most of all, space. I read so many reviews in which owners said their hamsters had shortened lives likely due to having a habitat that was too small. This cage is what everyone I spoke to recommended, including at the pet store. It has a huge open area at the bottom which we filled with bedding. Our daughter's Syrian (teddy bear) hamster, Butterfuzz, loves burrowing into the bedding and sleeping with privacy (it is safe for hamsters to be totally submerged in bedding). It has so many places for her to explore, which she does. Butterfuzz's favorite location is the green walkway, and she often uses the pink domed house to sleep in (closing up the door with bedding). We placed her food there in the food bowl and her water bottle there too, and she uses both all the time. Sleep, eat, drink, sleep during the day. Explore, eat, drink, explore, run (hamster wheel) at twilight/night. She has explored every corner of the cage and continues to run around every night. She climbs the walls, she climbs up to the pink higher landing, she goes into the tube and up to the top room with the second opening. Lately she has carried a mass of bedding and all her food (cheeks stuffed hugely!) up to the upper area. She fills the tube with bedding before taking naps. This cage gives her everything she needs, and we feel we have given her an amazing and interesting habitat in which she can thrive. We look forward to enjoying her stuffed cheeks for a long time to come. This cage looks so fun that everyone who sees it wishes they could be a hamster and run around in it! Note that it has two openings, one very large on in front that makes cleaning easy, and one up top in her penthouse. And also note it is wonderfully large - fits nicely on my daughter's dresser. ... show more

  • Great cage, but has its flaws
Really nice cage - large size and perfect for a syrian hamster. My hamster loves to run around and play in this cage and she seems very happy in it. I also like that the tubes included are larger than standard tubes, so it's not as tight of a fit for her to squeeze through. This cage is also very easy to move and clean. Downsides: (1) My cage came with 2 broken pieces. I contacted the company the day I received it and was told I'd get replacement pieces sent... it's now been almost a month and I've received nothing. (2) The wheel that comes with the cage is too small for a syrian and very noisy. I had to buy her another wheel, which is fine, but an added expense is annoying when you've just spent this much on a cage. (3) Bedding constantly gets stuck in the tube below the hideaway at the top. My hamster loves the hideaway and nests in there, but at least a few times a week I'm having to take the tubes apart to unclog them because she can't get past the clumps of bedding... and i deliberately don't even put a lot in the hideaway, for this reason. Just seems like it could've been designed better in that regard. (4) The little green and purple huts are cute, but she literally never uses them. I'd still recommend this cage vs. the tiny cages commonly on the market for hamsters, but there are ways this one could be improved. Also the broken pieces and failure to make it right caused me to deduct another star. ... show more

  • A Cage For The Spoiled Hamster(s)
I had hamsters as a kid back in the 80’s so when my daughter asked for a hamster for her birthday I figured why not? As part of showing she was ready to take on the responsibility of having her own pet, her dad and I had her research how to care for a hamster and WOW have things changed. After learning about the proper space requirements for a Syrian, we quickly realized the “hamster cage” we used for our son’s mice wasn’t going to cut it. After much deliberation we decided on this cage and I’m glad we did. The box it came shipped in was well-padded and the pieces were in pristine condition. There were even some extra tunnel pieces so we just stored them in case we ever need to replace some. My daughter’s new fur baby, Nefertiti, seems quite happy with her new abode. I wasn’t sure about the size of the little covered “beds” but they’re plenty big enough for her to move around in. I like that the food bowl is stainless steel. Unlike others, I don’t find that the water bottle leaks any more than any other bottle we had for my hamsters (or the one for my son’s mice). Maybe bottle technology has changed? The wheel that came with the cage seems to be a decent size for our girl and the noise isn’t an issue as the cage is in our library/formal living room, however, we had already purchased a silent runner wheel in anticipation of getting Nefertiti so I went ahead and installed it as you can see in the pictures. I was unsure whether or not the two platforms were really worth the extra cost but I think they are. As soon as the little fuzzball woke up and got comfortable exploring her cage, she quickly zoomed from one platform, down to the bottom and back up the other side. Like others said, she hasn’t bothered with the ramps but there’s enough bedding that she just hops up without them. Since we just got her today, she hasn’t yet explored the tunnels or turret on top but I have no doubt she will be making use of them soon. Update: we have seen her use both ramps multiple times as well as just jumping up on the platforms. The water bottle doesn’t seem to be leaking at all now (and I checked to make sure it is working). She found the tunnels the first night and quickly decided she was going to sleep there. They already got pretty gross since she was spending so much time there. Others mentioned that their hams got bedding in the tunnels and weren’t able to get out of them without help. Nefertiti didn’t seem to have that problem. We didn’t put bedding in the turret because of the comments from other users but she brought some up there on her own. It didn’t stop her from moving it all around. 2nd update: We’ve had our hamster and this cage for about a month and are still thrilled with it. I ended up reconfiguring the tunnels up to the turret and Nefertiti seems perfectly happy with it this way (bonus is fewer tunnels to take apart for cleaning then reassemble). Our son (11) was envious of his sister’s hamster and missed having his own pocket pet so we let him get one too. I tried to talk him into making a DIY cage based on tutorials I’d seen online but he was adamant he wanted the same cage for his girl (Rey Skyhamster). It came today and his little baby seems happy with her cage as well. He decided to configure the platforms differently which meant the green “slide” doesn’t fit. His baby is still very small and unable to make the stretch up to the top level so I used a natural wooden bendy bridge to give her a way up. We’re waiting for her Silent Runner to arrive so we put the wheel that came with the cage in but, like so many others said, it’s very noisy and bounces a lot. Overall, still no complaints. ... show more
