I used my Medicare Advantage coverage to get a pair of hearing aids. It offers coverage of up to $4000 for hearing aids every year. The least expensive choice that I was given was a pair that cost $3000. Other options would require a minimum of $400 out of my pocket. I had to wait 10 days for the devices to arrive. I was very pleased with the way they improved my hearing. The second day, the right one fell out of my ear and I failed to notice it until I was removing them for the night. I could not find it. I called the audiologist and was told not to worry, I could replace it under the warranty with only a $350 copay. I elected to try these hearing aids instead. They were on my front porch the next morning. I plugged in the charging case. It was reading 100% charged an hour later. I put them in. I like them better than those $3000 aids. I seem to be hearing everything just as clear without an annoying crackling that I heard with the expensive pair. I thought that crackling was just because I was not hearing the upper ranges and that might be, but I am very happy with the added fidelity I am hearing listening to music with this pair so if it was the range that was causing the crackling, I am happy to do without it. These hearing aids are all I need.

This particular brand of OTC hearing aids, LAMYOO, is much better than a previous pair I purchased and returned to Amazon. The necessary tools (small screw drivers and a cleaning brush) needed to make sound adjustments and a variety of domes are enclosed. I like that there’s a small on/off switch in case I need to tune out. These hearing aids are for people with moderate hearing loss in either one or both ears. My hearing loss is the result of an illness that impacted my right ear. They’re easy to use and relatively inexpensive (Amazon or the vendor, not sure which, offered a coupon that brought down the price). Item was well packaged.

They come in a charging case that looks just like regular Bluetooth earbuds. It makes them feel less different. They are in ear, the part that sits outside the ear is small. They are comfy to wear for a couple of hours, and I like that the case shows the battery life for both the left and right earpieces, plus the case itself. It’s nice to know exactly how much juice is left before I head out. The controls are the earpieces, a button for turning them on or off, and you can tweak the volume. I usually adjust it when I’m out somewhere noisy, like the grocery store, and it helps me hear conversations better. The battery holds up fine for my usual two to three hour outings, and there is a tiny brush included for cleaning. Sometimes the volume controls are a bit finicky, like, I have to press a couple of times to get it just right. Also they don’t always handle super loud environments, like a busy restaurant, as well as I’d hoped. I’d like it if they had a setting to filter out more background chatter in those situations.
