As far as I am aware, this is the only backpacking pan with the extra mass at the bottom to minimize hot spots. Worth a little extra weight, specially when canoeing where you can carry more gear. I bought this wanting to really like it. I usually take a stainless skillet camping, and I was looking at getting a new one. The one I've been using for years is the Stanley fry pan set, it's around the same price as this, is the same size, has a folding handle, and comes with a few other accessories. After getting this, I wish I'd ordered another Stanley. The pan is okay. It's well made. This is why it gets 3 stars. It would've gotten 4, but the handle came all jacked up and bent. It wasn't even connected to the pan right when I opened it. It comes with an oddly designed canvas drawstring bag, which is great... except the draw string doesn't have a clip on the line to hold it in place, and the oddly designed bag wants to naturally open up. So it's a pan sitting in a canvas bowl shaped thing. Whatever. So that's why it's only 3 stars. The pan itself is okay. I don't think it's as good as the Stanley, but I still think it's an okay pan. I'm going to keep using it. But if I was to do it over, the Stanley would be the way to go. Or maybe the latest Self Reliance Outfitters pan with a lid for the same price. ... show more

It's a very well made frying pan. I've used it many of times over the campfire. The heavyweight bottom distributes heat decently. You can and you MUST season this thing regularly. Otherwise food will stick like superglue to stainless steel.

I really liked the size of this pan,most backpacking pans are too small. My primus is replacing my titanium pan which I would always burn my food on. I really appreciate stainless steel , so easy to cook on.

Brought this pan to use car camping. It is one of the best quality pans I have came across for camp cooking!!! Super heavy duty, the handle locks in place nicely so you don't dump your food in the fire, and great pan overall. If you are used to cooking with stainless steel (which I do at home) then this pan is awesome for the camp kitchen! It's heavy, so dont plan on backpacking much with it, but for family camping/car camping/ or weekend trips this pan is awesome!!! ... show more

Mine didnt have a bag and had a Prius and gsi tag but it's a good pot I can use it to do lots of cooking it's a pretty big pan at 25cm but it's a good one for camping
