  • Better than expected
Color: Gray/Black
I was expecting this bench to be OK and of sufficient build quality but I was expecting to make a compromise in functionality and quality for maximum space efficiency and mobility. Turns out I got the latter as needed but this bench is actually super solid and stable, and while I do wish the back pad had a little more width (it’s tapered to cater to dumbbell lifts which is a plus for that purpose) it’s comfortable and ergonomic. I’m 6’ 190ish and broad shouldered and I feel well supported. The bench sits lower than most adjustable benches and this allows stable footing and leg drive when pressing. The gap is barely noticeable when laying flat. Padding is nice and firm with a nice feeling texture and decent grip. Super easy to fold up and unfold and wheel around. I would never expect a folding bench to be this robust however and was always skeptical of this concept. I love that is has a legit low incline setting and 7 altogether- not common at this price point. The seat pad is fixed but so far not finding this bothersome and I might partially be able attribute this to the footing aspect I described above. It’s an attractive looking bench and happens to match my Powerline rack I purchased at the same time. Both were on sale recently and I feel like I got an incredible value on this setup. The fact it was ready to go out the box was of course an icing on the cake as well. Body-Solid packages their equipment very well in my experience, it arrived as one would hope it to, had to reapply the little padded decal however. Can’t go wrong with this bench if you need a good mix of quality and sturdiness and space saving features for a home gym ... show more

  • The Bench I've Been Needing!
Color: Gray/Black
I have been needing a bench like this one for years! I use it with a squat rack and fold it up against the squat rack so the space it takes up is minimal. I was hoping to get a bench with an adjustable seat as well as an adjustable back, but I’m glad I made this purchase. While the seat portion isn’t adjustable, I love the foot pegs more than I ever thought I would and those don’t usually come with benches with adjustable seats. They make it so much easier to get back up and help with crunches in the decline position. I didn’t think much of the footpegs, but they turned out to be a pleasant bonus! I had been concerned that a folding bench might not be as sturdy, but like all Body Solid products, this bench is very stable and feels solid. I can sit at either end of the bench and it doesn’t tip or feel like it’s under stress. I chose this bench over others mainly because the way it adjusts looks like one of the sturdiest ways of doing it. The positions are also great compared to other benches I was looking at. The decline is a great angle and it goes all the way to the near-vertical incline (which is impressive). The gap between the pads is necessary for the incline positions, but it doesn’t bother me at all and doubt it will be trouble for others either. The back piece does get narrow, but I do not mind it. It aids in allowing free movement of your arms and shoulders. My benches have all been getting progressively narrower and it takes a while to get used to, but is a welcome change. If you’re scared you might slip off one side (you won’t), you should definitely use safeties. This is true of any bench, especially adjustable ones as I have seen reviews of other adjustable benches breaking. My only issues were with the packaging, but I’m still giving the product itself 5 stars. The box it came in looked sturdy.., but the foot pegs were sticking out of holes in the sides; luckily, it wasn’t damaged. The handle at the base of the seat cushion was also sticking out though and unfortunately, that had caused cosmetic damage. The cushions were wrapped in plastic which is great for protecting them, but I did have to unbolt the cushions to fully remove the plastic. I am having problems with the adhesive as well. The Powerline sticker is coming off which doesn’t bother me at all, but the warning labels under both cushions appear to have melted adhesive which smeared all over the bottom of the cushions. For the seat cushion, this label is right where you would grab to help yourself sit back up. I tried cleaning it with several different chemicals and even a magic eraser, but the stickiness remains. I contacted BodySolid customer support and they seemed to know of this issue and offered replacement cushions. ... show more

  • Good buy so far with moderate to heavy use
Color: Gray/Black
Just to start off, I've had the Powerline Bench for a little over 9 months now with moderate to heavy usage. It has been used at a minimum of 4 times per week by myself, wife and also friends. I am no writing this review after opening, it has been through 9 months of moderate to heavy usage. Short Review: Must have item for any home gym, stable, durable. Good buy so far with moderate to heavy use. Long review: If you are looking for home gym equipment than this is the right place to be looking. People who buy home gym equipment often forget that one of the most important equipment is actually a STABLE and durable bench. In my small opinion, the Powerline bench is very stable and I have used it upwards to 400 pounds (myself with weights included) and the bench holds well. No shakyness of the frame except for the head board. There is some small wiggle room there but not to the point of annoyance. I actually chose this over a lot of the other benches due to the way it holds positions. There is a metal framed bar that you can adjust to the 7 positions and that gave me a lot of confidence. Many other benches only had only a metal pin to hold positions, and that seemed a bit too hokey for me. I needed something solid that will not fail if I were to lift heavy. The Powerline bench offers 7 adjustable height setups which is very adequate for everyone to use. Although it does mention 7 positions, I would argue that it is only suitable for 6 positions. The decline position doesn't seem to fit in well for me, I feel as though I am falling off the bench while in decline. The cushioning is fantastic. It isn't too soft nor too hard, just right in the middle. Stitching is also pretty good, I haven't seen anything come off and my bench still looks brand new after all these months. I've seen a lot of comments about the adhesive on some of the stickers being annoying but I did not find anything wrong with my bench. There are a few con's to this bench if you are wondering. My biggest issue with the bench is the head board. It narrows down to much for me and I do have a wide frame. It measures 10.25 inches in width and narrows down to 8.25 inches in width towards the head. It can be annoying at times but I have gotten used to it (One star taken away for this, I would have preferred a bench that was 10.25 all the way in width). Another issue that I've found was the gap between the head board and the seat. There seems to be like a 2 inch gap there and it can annoy some people. Pro's: 1. Very stable bench 2. 7 advertised positions (my opinion is 6 positions) 3. Good cushioning as well as stitching 4. Very stable bench 5. Did I mention that it was stable? Con's or improvements: 1. Head boards narrows down to 8.25 inches, make them all 10.25 inches in width from bottom to top (1 star taken off for this) 2. Small gap between head board and seat Overall this is a decent bench for anyone deciding to start their own home gyms. If this review was helpful in anyway, a simple CLICK below for YES would help me know what else to review in the future. Thanks. --JY ... show more

  • Happy with this bench, leg pegs aren't that helpful
Color: Gray/Black
I agonized over buying this after reading all the reviews here. For the cost I don't think I could have gotten a better bench. I'm 6'1', 240lbs and this holds me just fine, no head hanging over the edge, no head hitting the ground, no feeling of tipping left or right. I use this for bench press, incline and decline press, plus all the stuff you can do with a normal flat bench. This is also great for shoulder press and skull crushers since it sits up straight like a chair. The bench doesn't quite lay perfectly flat, there's a very slight decline to it when it's supposed to be in the flat position, but it doesn't bother me at all. The only way the not-flatness would throw me off is if I was lifting competitively and really needed everything perfect to get that extra rep in. At that point you're going to want a professional bench anyways, and probably a dedicated one for each position. The folding up aspect of this bench is perfect for me. It stores away nicely against the wall and sets up in seconds. I did have to use some wd-40 to get the pegs to slide in and out nicely, but once that was done it worked like a charm. It feels perfectly stable in each position and I've had no trouble with it slipping. The leg pegs aren't really useful at all. I had hopes of using the decline position for situps. The bench definitely declines far enough to work for that, but without an under-knee support those pegs are just uncomfortable. Similarly I don't really use them for decline press, without that extra support they're just distracting. It's disappointing but you can't have everything, I still think this bench is worth 5 stars. ... show more

  • Best Bench for the price hands down
Color: Gray/Black
Reputation? -Been lifting weights and an active person for seven years. -Studying to become a personal trainer -Searched for benches for about a month straight I live in a small apartment but I have enough room to bench press and get my workouts done. I wanted a solid bench that had a great weight rating, folded up, and was not low quality. This is exactly what I got with the Powerline 125x. I first got it in a huge box and opened it up. Nothing damaged and came with a warranty form. Everything was pre assembled so again, no worries. I tried it out in all positions and loved the feel of it. Good padding, solid construction. The fact that it has more than three positions is a blessing because you can really nail your form. The flat position as mentioned by other reviews is juuuust slightly low on the backside but honestly I never notice it when I'm bench pressing. It's only if you really look at it do you see that it's slightly off 0 degrees. The decline is a little hard to get used to because the pegs that hold your feet are low and not high. It's best to wear shoes because they will fit between the bottom and lock around the pegs better. I usually work out bare foot since it's in my bedroom and found it hard to hold on so I just put on shoes and it was fine. The decline allows me to do ab work and more. Another thing I must mention is that if you're not focused the position bar CAN move off of one side of the notches. This is minimal and in my opinion not and issue because if you are focused and putting in position then it will go into place without a problem. It probably wouldn't break or slip if you missed one notch but it's not the safest thing to do so just look out for it. Like I started this review with, for the money this is the best bench out there. Retail it's $250. For those wondering I called Powerline and they told me that it has a weight rating of 500LBs. Most benches around this price are only 300Lbs. This is including the person on the bench. So a 150 pound person plus a 150 pound barbell bench that's already 300 pounds. I would recommend this to any new or skilled lifter looking for a cost effective bench with a higher than average weight rating. ... show more

  • Great space saver for a minimalist gym in a small apt!
Color: Gray/Black
I live in a small NYC apartment, and was really skeptical when my boyfriend suggested getting a bench for a "home gym". I thought we wouldn't have enough room....but then he found this bench! Pros: - Tiny footprint! Once you collapse it, it leans upright against a wall and takes up almost no space. - Wheels on the bottom help a lot, makes it easy for weak, 5'2" me to push it around the apt. - Has leg pegs for your ankles only. Subjectively speaking, it's nice not having the knee pegs in the way. Others may have differing preferences than I. - Slim, minimal, geometric. It's just nice looking. - Very easy and fast to adjust incline/decline. Very easy to collapse or set up. - Came already assembled!! Just pop open the box and use it! - Lies flat, not sure what other reviewers are talking about. Has all the angles you need. Cons: - Won't stay against the wall unless you have some kind of stopper, so it doesn't roll and slam on to the ground. At the moment I'm keeping a 55.2lb dumbbell infront of it, but you can get creative with your doorstopper here. - There's a metal plane that sticks out of the bottom at the top (seat of the bench), which if your seats are facing out, would hit the wall if you lean it against the wall for storage. Or, it would lean against the floor if you put it under your bed. This could scratch up the wall or floor when stored, so we put some rubber adhesives on there as a "bumper". - Bottom of the bench (any of the metal areas) can be sticky, especially due to ripping off the stickers. It feels kinda gross.. but I get why it's there. It'll probably go away in time. All in all those cons are really soft cons and all fixable. I'm a beginner with strength training, and the weight of the bench is no problem for me to drag out and set up quickly. I'm a woman who is 5'2" tall, my boyfriend is 5'8". No problems with the length for our sizes, there's room to spare above our heads. Attached are 2 photos - bench folded up against the wall, and bench ready for use :) ... show more

  • Gets the job done, well!
Color: Gray/Black
This is the bench I've been looking for, for a couple of reasons... First, I didn't want anything too elaborate, with a this bar and that curl stand and this espresso machine. I need a decent workout bench that can be flat, decline to a decent angle, and incline to an almost vertical angle. For some reason, many adjustable benches are built without these NECESSARY features and instead go with useless additions to make the bench more appealing when it's just more annoying. This bench does it all. Secondly, it folds up to go under a bed, against a wall, into a closet, just out of the way. I don't have a lot of room, and until I get a place where I can designate a room for a gym, this is the best solution. Actually, I'd prefer this bench regardless. The folding is an added convenience and doesn't detract from the quality or construction at all. I was hoping the bench would be able to slip under my bed, but it's too low. You need about 7 inches of clearance to do that. Regardless, it goes right up against the wall. Thirdly, as I mentioned, great quality. The bench is sturdy, well built with comfortable padding, and came assembled and folded in the box. All you have to do is pull it out and it's ready to go. I'd like to add that Body Fitness has wonderful customer service. My bench was lacking the end rubber piece to one of the locking pins; not a big deal, but If I pay good money I'd like my product to be flawless. I got on the phone with them, almost no hold time, very pleasant agent, and they sent out a new pin in no time. Overall, I'm very happy with this bench. It is, IMO, the best compliment to any workout room or area and for any and all equipment. This + my adjustable dumbbells means no more wasting time trying to make it to the gym. ... show more

  • Excellent value for the money. High quality, durable, and portable. COMES FULLY ASSEMBLED. DO NOT PAY FOR ASSEMBLY.
Color: Gray/Black
Excellent value for the money. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of this bench, especially given its price point. I am living in an apartment temporarily for a year, and I got this bench as a temporary solution due to space constraints. I thought it would be the kind of thing that I would use for a year and then give it away when I move back into my home. I have decided that I will keep it when I move. It is really a solid and highly functional bench. I weigh 230 and I use dumbbells up to 90 pounds each on this bench (over 400 total pounds on the bench). It feels very solid despite the heavy weight. It folds up nicely, and the wheels are a bonus. There were some packaging issues, as some others have reported. Mine arrived with one leg protruding out of the side of the box, completely exposed. Thankfully, there was no damage. Also, DO NOT PAY FOR THE ASSEMBLY OPTION! The bench comes fully assembled. You just take it out of the box, remove the protective plastic, and it's ready to use. ... show more
