This is a must-have for guinea pig parents! We use fleece bedding for our cavies and the hay is a mess to clean out of it. I ordered this in hopes that the hay would stay mostly within the pan and it does! I do recommend using a liner of some kind under the grate for easier cleaning. I have two 3yr old mini lops and this is so far the best litter box we've purchased. Large enough to fit them both, low profile so they can easily hop on & off and easy to clean. The best part is that I can use cat litter without worrying that my buns will get sick. It's a game changer, because now their urine gets absorbed and doesn't stink like it used to with paper pellets. A bit small for even small rabbits, and there needs to be more room between the grate and the bottom so you can put litter in it rather than just a folded potty pad. Must separate top from bottom to wash it or you can't get the water out. Probably better for guinea pigs than rabbits, but it works. I would rather see at least an inch between a one-piece bottom and a metal grate. ... show more

This is by far the best solution for guinea pigs as they often poop while they eat hay. Not only does the grid design keep excess hay from getting super dirty but it their poops fall through perfectly. If they don’t, you can just kinda shake the tray and they’ll fall down into the tray. Any bad reviews about poop not falling through must be for RABBITS, their poop is bigger than the holes in the grid and probably won’t fall through. I put some non-scented all natural kitty litter in the tray as well so their pee will clump there. It’s been a breeze to clean this way. I just use a kitchen strainer spoon (holes small enough so their poop doesn’t fall through) to scoop the litter and then replace the grid. This is the most cost effective accessory to have in your guinea pig’s environment! Save hay, save litter/bedding, and most importantly, save TIME! ... show more

    • Leaks - Not a good solution for bunnies

I have 3 bunnies and I clean their cage every day. I was trying to get away from a pan with litter in it that gets stuck to their hair and tracked around the cage but this is not the solution. I even placed a potty pad liner doubled over in the bottom of this pan and the urine still leaked out even after less than a day. There is also no sanitary way to clean this pan without getting the urine and droppings everywhere. It does not come apart easily and no one wants to get their hands all over in the mess to get it apart. I would give it 0 stars if I could.
