    • Great product but a few setup and usage issues

Overall, this litter box is a game changer and has made my life much simpler. It’s quiet, efficient, and easy to clean. A few items of note: - Possibly due to the height of the opening, my cats jump in and out of it and that causes litter to fly out and all over the floor. The litter mat is way too small to catch the litter so I’m having to sweep the area a few times a day. - During setup, connecting it to WiFi was far more time consuming and frustrating than it should have been. I have a separate WiFi network created for IoT devices (2.4ghz) and after about twenty attempts to connect, I ended up adding it to the network I have for my alarm system. Eventually I’ll try it again on the correct network. - Since the opening is so high, I had to purchase a step to place in front of it. I’ve seen models by other brands that come with a step but this one does not and my older cat did not want to use it because of needing to jump to get in. After I purchased a third party step, my older cat began using it. - I also have a PetSafe Smart Scoop litter box and figured they would use the same app. I now have two apps that I have to use to for the products. I assumed this new one could be added to the other PetSafe app so everything would be in one place. ... show more

    • Great look and works well
I've been using this litter box for a few months now and waited to review until I had fully experienced the maintenance and functionality. My cat is 13 years old and started showing signs of diabetes about 8 months ago. He was overweight prior but lost significant weight (20lbs down to 13lbs) and started urinating much more often and in larger quantities. Up until this point, we'd been using our PetSafe automatic cleaning box with the PetSafe litter trays. We loved it! It worked great and kept the smell under control. But as his symptoms worsened, we noticed we needed to change the litter tray every 6 days or so because the crystals were so saturated. We needed clumping litter to help keep his box clean. Like a miracle, I stumbled upon this spinning litter box from PetSafe. We had just moved to a new house and the timing was perfect to find a new litter box situation for my cat. At first, he was really skeptical. He didn't use the box for the first 12 hours or so, which was big deal because of how often he was urinating at this time. We thought he might be apprehensive about the small jump into the dark circle (black might have been an issue here), so I got him a small scratching pad that looks like a ramp. After that, he took to the box almost immediately. We tried a few different litters since then, and I have landed on Dr. Elsey's Ultra. Now, because there is a lot of pee, there are a lot of clumps. I have to empty the tray about once a day, but it is so much easier, smells better, and is frankly safer than changing out the sludge I was doing with my old crystal litter. The app lets me know the bin is full, and I go change the liner and toss the clumps. The litter box is still accessible as a normal box would be when the bin is full, so barring any sensor issues, I would be able to go out of town for a day or two, and he'd still have a litter box to use even if the spinning function stopped. I have only done one deep clean so far (I am due for another one). It took about 30 minutes to take everything apart and spray it off. The black plastic obviously really shows the caked-on litter, but at least I knew where to clean. The box definitely assembles and disassembles very easily. But with excessive use over 3 months now, it looks like I'll only need to do a deep clean every 2 months or so. The noise level is very low. The mechanical noise is hardly noticeable; the only noise really comes from the clumps etc dropping into the box. We keep ours in the laundry at the back of the house, so I will hear it but it's not bothersome. The app is really helpful in tracking when it's time to clean it. This box is definitely an investment, but honestly, I wish I'd found it sooner. I've been very pleased with my PetSafe products and hope this box will last quite a long time. ... show more

This came well packaged with very clear and precise assembly instructions. Also included was the warranty information which is sometimes missing from items I order. The accessories were packed in a small box (see pic) and included a screwdriver for assembly. The cord is a little short and this does need to be plugged in, so I had to rearrange my laundry room to accommodate it. My one cat took to it right away, but my other cat was afraid of it. I followed the adjustment advice and put the old litter box near it without cleaning it. It took 5 smelly, disgusting days before cat #2 would finally start using the new litter box, but the trick worked! However, I did have a couple of issues with the litter box. The waste that drops in the drawer underneath is still very stinky and I was needing to clean that out daily until the second issue happened. After about a week some pieces of litter worked their way under the edge of the inner floor pad where the litter sifter is and caused it to unseat and dump fresh litter in the waste drawer. That's how I found out that a little unused litter in the drawer will help mask the waste smell. As far as the floor pad goes, I had to remove the top and reseat it under the ridge. If I could make a suggestion, if possible, it would be nice if the ridge on that side was a little longer. Now the app. You scan a QR code to download the app, then you pair the litter box to the app and then connect it to your WIFI network. Mine didn't go completely smoothly but it did connect, and everything was fine until one of my cats decided to play with the lights and pushed the WIFI button which disconnected it. In hindsight I should have uninstalled the entire app and started again because it would not reconnect. This requires 2.4GHz and my router has 2.4, 5, and 6GHz but apparently the app can't isolate only the 2.4 and needed me to manually separate my bandwidth on my router (as per pop up in the app) before it would reconnect. This is not recommended by my internet service, so information was difficult to navigate, time consuming, and frustrating but I finally was able to reconnect. Unfortunately, this has affected my other devices that are also using 2.4GHz and I've had to reconnect them to the separated bandwidth. I think they should update the app to address this. Another thing about the app that was a little confusing is that often the weight will show only 2 or 3 pounds instead of the actual weight of the cat. Sometimes they just peek into the box, and sometimes they actually use it. From doing a little research I think that it might be when the sensors are covered with litter. All in all, I do like the litter box. I don't like that I had to isolate my internet bandwidth and may just uninstall the app and not use it. ... show more
