All I have to do is pick up the bag with the cats deposits and throw it away; and the carbon filters do hold down the odor. The only problem I have is that it is a little too short for my cats. One is 9 lbs and the other is 11+. If they don't do their business outside of the litter area, it works fine I then filled it and turned it on but also left her regular litter box until I was sure she would use this. It only took 1 day for her to begin using it! So far, this is working great. I set the app to clean after 20 minutes. You can also tell it to "clean now" in the app, if needed, or push a button on the unit to clean without using the app. It is quiet and does exactly what it is supposed to do! I can check the app and see how many times my cat has used it. It is easy to check the bag (located at the front of box) to see when it needs to be changed. This has been a game changer for me! I had a stroke several months ago and don't have use of my left side which made getting down and scooping the old box difficult. 1. An undisputed large space: this is the number one reason I bought it. My two cats are both big, and they can very easily change direction and scrape sand in it, and they don't feel cramped at all. In the normal cat litter box I used before, I often took out sand after use. That's because the space was too small and I wasn't able to properly groom myself. However, this toilet completely solves that problem, and even when the two cats use it alternately, there is no feeling of pressure at all, and they don't compromise or wait for the “toilet” anymore. 2. THE ULTIMATE WIN OF OPEN DESIGN: This design is a savior for our big cat “Genpo.” I used to hate sealed cat litter boxes so much that I put up with them and even used them all over the place. After switching to this open one, I loved it right away! This is because you can be alert and observe the surrounding environment even while using the toilet, so there is a sufficient sense of safety. At the same time, for me, this design allows me to intuitively check the status of their excrement at any time, and there is no better design for cat health management (e.g. loose stools, the size of lumps of urine, etc.). 3. Very low entrance, unobstructed passage: the house has another one, a young kitten “Doubao”. The entrance to this cat litter box is mostly a gentle slope, making it easy to get in and out without any effort. This is an extremely important thoughtful design for kittens, old cats, or cats with joint problems, and ensures that all families can use it without difficulty. 4. The amazing silence effect and a good night's sleep until morning: this is probably what surprised me the most! The operating noise is almost negligible, and even when the automatic cleaning cycle is activated in the middle of the night or at dawn, I can't hear any sound at all in the bedroom, and I don't wake up to the motor noise anymore. Its quiet technology is excellent, realizes cleaning that truly “doesn't make you feel”, and thoroughly enhances the quality of life. 5. Smart APP management, ultimate ease of use and interaction: The one-touch cleaning function with the smartphone app is so convenient that you no longer need to bend your back to search for a button on the machine. The most heartwarming thing is the “toilet notification” function! Every time the cat uses it, the APP immediately pushes a message and tells me “The cat just used the cat litter box.” Not only is this feature interesting, but it also makes me feel a strange bond with cats. There are almost no cons to this open automatic cat litter box. It perfectly combines spacious space, thoughtful open design, low entrance without barriers, the best quiet technology, and convenient and smart APP control. It completely freed me from daily toilet cleaning, and now I just throw away plastic bags in the trash can regularly. Most importantly, my cats really love it, and this is critical to their physical and mental health. This is the happiest pet product I've bought in recent years, there's no other! Highly recommended! Honestly, the one without the bag/waste compartment runs smoother than this one. This thing is janky. The rake frequently gets stuck on the waste compartment and it smears wet litter into the edges and sides so I have to frequently clean it anyway. The waste compartment doesn't really have much of a filter to keep in smell like the nicer quality self cleaning litter boxes I've used before. It's rather pricey, too. I wanted to return it and invest the money into something else The Safe Anti-Pinch mechanism works well to prevent cat getting injured, my cat was so curious to touch the machine first day when he saw the box spinning for self cleaning, and this machine stopped immediately. So far it always self clean 1 minutes after my cat using the litter. Overall, this is an excellent machine for a much lower price. The only thing I wish manufacturer can upgrade or improve is to add the ability connecting a 5G wifi signal instead of only 2.4g wifi. So in this case I don't bother to install the app since I just don't have a 2.4g wifi at home.

I'm only giving it a 4 because it came missing one of the pieces that cover the rake mechanism but other than that it's great. My 3 year old cat adjusted almost immediately and even runs to watch it rake when she hears it activate. It masks the smell of kitty waste very well.

My cats were a little sketched out at first because of the noise but they've learned to love it. The adapted to the crystal litter as well. We regularly scoop their litter but they still prefer this one. The crystals are Greta no scent at all coming from them and the auto cleaning is amazing. Might have to pick up another one to replace their other litter box

This litter box is smaller than what my kitties were used to. However, they seem to adjust quite quickly with it. Initially, I picked them up and put them in the litter box. They immediately knew what it was for and did their business. I cannot say enough, good things about it. The best thing is not having to lug those 40 pound boxes of litter home. I’m not getting any younger and was always wondering how I’m going to be able to pick those up in the future. Yes, the initial expense is quite a bit, however, at $25 for a box of litter. It will even out and get better quickly.
