  • Installation: Measurement is taken from D ring to D ring, leaving 1.5 - 2 foot space for the hardware kit between shade sail D ring and mounting points. Patio Paradise hardware kits and cables are strongly recommended for best performance and appearance.

I was looking for an option to cover a patio to keep bird droppings off of the furniture and decided to look to see if there was anything like this. I found out that this is an affordable, and easy to install option. I had to cement a couple of poles, which was the hardest part of the job, to attach one side of this shade, but installing was a breeze, even by myself. It was 103 on the day I put it up, and immediately after I brought the shade up, it felt 20 degrees cooler. It still lets most of the light through, but protect everything underneath. One suggestion...don't use the nylon rope that is sent with the shade. It unravels easy and is not that sturdy. For less that 10 bucks you can buy a spool of 50 feet of vinyl covered wire that you can use that will hold up much better. I am now looking to buy a few triangular shades to put up in other areas. There are imperfections in the fabric that are very noticeable and it is sagging in the middle. We had to run a line through the middle to hold it up. It is still very hot in this shade and rain comes right through as well.

The intended use is shade for my chichens. I was using tarps, but they catch every bit of wind and I am replacing tarps often. The sail shade is giving good shade and does not act to the wind as the tarp does. The only thing left to prove is how long it can withstand the Sun and a big windstorm. The price for the sail shade was about the same as the last tarp I bought. I give it a 2 thumbs up and if I had more thumbs, I would have given more.
