This is an update of my earlier review -- I'm giving it five stars even though the instructions are truly horrible, and can mislead you. At first I was immediately stuck with the assembly at instruction #03 -- where part F (the long plastic cord) goes into the slot in parts J (awning roller) with the clothe part of the awning. The instructions show the end caps on parts J attached to both sides when doing this. That -- is impossible! There is no way you can do it with the end caps attached-- and I wasted an hour trying. However, if you remove either end cap structure -- it slides right into the groove with no problems. I will say I called their customer service -- and they were nice -- but zero help. I had to figure it out on my own. But, all parts have individual labels. Assembly is somewhat intuitive. The parts are all metal, and very well made, and once installed it works flawlessly. I would suggest a two person install although I did it myself. Once you find a spot, and jam it in between the ceiling and floor -- you can do the fine tightening by turning the bottom.

This awning is wonderful and exactly as described. It’s frame is sturdy when installed tightly and the awning is easy to roll up when it gets windy or in heavy rain. I found that even rolled in during a very windy episode, the awning poles moved around a lot, so I used some strips of flannel to tie the awning mechanism to the support poles. It kept the unit stable and was easy to do without damaging the poles. My patio roof is quite wide and now that I know this is what I was looking for, I will order a second one to completely cover the whole width. Does the trick without costing several thousand for a permanent awning at the back of my house. I am very pleased. I needed one person to help get it in position due to it being the largest size. I’m hoping that this company provides an awning fabric replacement when it’s needed.

The instructions are very clear and easy to follow; however, the cranking mechanism was illustrated on the wrong side of the awning. Before you get too far along in the assembly process be sure that the cranking mechanism in your kit is for left or right side of awning, All is well now. I disassembled and reassembled in the opposite direction. My only frustration is that I had to do this a second time because the instructions were written backward and it is very hot out there. I am mechanically inclined, and therefore common sense ruled the day! However, other customers may find this very frustrating. When helping customers in the future, you may want to begin with the Cranking mechanism could possibly be intended for the left-hand side instead of the right hand side of the awning. This means that the awning polls should be in the order J3J2J1 from left to right so that the rod that connects to the cranking mechanism will be on the left-hand side also. I do like this product so far. Only time will tell if it will work in my favor. I’m hoping that it is an inexpensive solution for the hot sun on the backside of my house. If so, I plan to purchase additional awnings. Hope this helps other customers as well.

The design of our front entry allowed the sun and rain to deteriorate all my exterior decor. The awning is just what I wanted and needed! It was easy to assemble and protects our front door from the sun and rain! I recommend highly!

If I could give it negative 5 I would because it’s the only rating it truly deserves. This thing is completely unstable, parts pop out like pop corn. This is the worst $70 I ever spent. It almost killed my orange tree and heat my head a few times. Unfortunately I was traveling and couldn’t return this garbage on time. Don’t spend your money and energy on this product, it’s literally the absolute worst way to spend your money.
