This is my second awning from Outsunny, the first one had has lasted 5 years before the frabic on the awning started to fray and get holes. The instructions are OK just a bit difficult to understand, I am an engineer and I was scratching my head sometimes. Some of the parts were bent needing work to get them straightened out so I could install them, good thing I have prior sheetmetal bending experience so was able to fix issues and assemble. The screw holes had alot if paint in them so I had to use a tap to chase the threads to clean them up. I couldn't even start some of the screws due to the paint. In the instructions it shows to install 4 screws in the tube and the square bar when its actually 8, 4 on each side. Be on the lookout for slilvers of metal on the ends of the tubes you could cut yourself accidentally. Some of the parts are inside of the large pieces of tubing. The end caps need to have some of the paint removed (I used a file) on the edge to get them to start sliding onto the square bar then need to use a hammer to drive them the rest of the way I still havent installed on my deck but that part is pretty straight forward. I would reccomend but having a mechanically inclined person do the build would help.

This is a great product. It installed and worked exactly as advertised. Please note that this is a complicated piece of hardware that comes with many pieces and parts. If you are impatient, you probably should have a professional install a system for 10 times the cost. You have to slow down, carefully read the instructions, get a helper, and slowly install this. The main assembly comes in 2 halves that must be carefully coupled together with the included couplers (hidden inside the 3 tubes). I spent about 3 hours getting this built and installed into place. The directions are simple but easy to understand. There are lots of good pictures. The wording is not always good english but they are clear. The hardware included concrete bolts for connecting to brick but nothing for connecting to a timber house. I bought 4 heavy timberlock screws that worked great. Once installed, carefully read the learning instructions for the remote controller - it will save you some angst. The remote will not work until it is synced and adjusted for your awning. I am very pleased with this product and the shade that it provides.

I’ve had this up for a week. It was tough for a 1 man job and the instructions are horrible. There’s a video on YouTube and this old man does it on his own and that helped a lot. It doesn’t follow the same instructions and are way better. My concern is as you see in the picture, it looks like the cord is burning?! That is the cord from the motor and I can’t get through customer service. At this point, I’m worried about it burning down my deck.

I almost didn’t purchase due to complaints about instructions and quality but I went out on a whim and got it. I am glad I did, this product was absolutely above my expectations. I installed this totally by myself, although I could’ve used help. Easy to install, no damaged or missing items, seems well above average for quality, electric motor runs great with remote(remote is also magnetic and comes with double stick for the wall mount), the brackets were very heavy duty(I show one of the three main brackets in review pics), awning goes in and out easily(I couldn’t imagine having to hand crank them every time due to the gear ratio it takes forever). **note** unless you are installing into brick or concrete walls, you will need to get wood lag bolts and find your studs prior to bracket install** I purchased six, 3/8 - 3 inch galvanized bolts and six galvanized washers at my local tractor supply for only a couple dollars(shown in pics). Overall a great product! Very pleased.

Horrible instructions, they include letters in the instructions but 90% of the parts themselves were not labeled so you must be somewhat mechanically inclined. The layout for the fabric support is not clear, it just says "install the fabric support" and has to be deciphered from the pictures which shows it up and if not correct you will not be able to set the limits and can damage the fabric. The spacing for the mounts is based off the smaller sized unit. The manual is not specific to the size you purchase so you need to calculate your mounts according to the size you bought, not the instructions. The mounting instructions and hardware included are only for concrete or brick. There is no instruction for mounting into studs or wood. The 16x10 is not very sturdy when fully extended and minimal wind makes it move around quite a bit. I usually have to keep it 1/2-3/4 open. If you have built one before you will probably not have an issues installing this. If it's your first time, the poor instructions and the missing labels on the parts present a challenge, especially if you are wanting to install into wood or studs. There is no instructions on adjusting the pitch that found in the manual like other brands have. Otherwise it looks decent, is cheaper than others and the remote feature is a lot nicer than manually cracking it.

All the reviews saying how hard it is to build and the directions being bad are not true. I found it pretty easy to put together we bought 2 so the second one went together very quickly. Instructions were horrendous, including diagrams upside down, and not stated that one inch clearance is needed at the top, once installed. All this being said, once it was installed, I love the product.
