So far so good... this is the best hose I have ever purchased, at least thus far. We still haven't seen it go through a winter to see how durable it is to the elements. It is really lightweight, especially after you let the pressure off and let it drain. Very hard to kink. Excellent retraction on our hose reel makes it a snap to handle.     • Nice hose, the aluminum threads are problematic with brass connectors.

This a nice lightweight hose that is easy to handle; I much prefer this hose to the typical green rubber hose. The one down side is the aluminum threaded ends. Many spray nozzles are brass. Brass and aluminum in contact with each other will corrode and "weld" together. You will have a very hard time removing a brass spray nozzle that has been on the Orbit aluminum threads for a few weeks. To prevent this I added a plastic adapter to the Orbit hose which separates the brass from aluminum. So far, the plastic adapter is working nicely. ... show more

This hose is soft and doesn't seem to kink. I can lift it on and off a hose holder then just walk off and let it unroll behind me, and looping it back over it is easy too and I am in seventies and not super strong. I haven't had it a winter yet and will store it in shed then, so hoping mice won't chew at the soft cover since I really like this hose for easy use and reach. ... show more

I received this hose over a week late in a box that was rather beaten up that had been re-taped to keep it shut. After careful inspection I could not identify any damage to the hose itself and decided it should be safe to use. Before using it I laid the entire length of the hose out straight while carefully untwisting it to prevent kinks or internal damage and then ran some water through it to ensure it was fully straightened out. The hose seemed to function well so I shut off the water and let it sit for a few minutes while I went to my garage to get a spray nozzle to test it further. After attaching a spray nozzle and turning the water back on, I noticed a slight hissing noise coming from the end of the hose as I reached down to pick it up. Before I was able to grab it, the end of the hose exploded off in a rather violent fashion. I narrowly avoided being struck in the leg by an internal metal jacket from the end of the hose that went flying approximately 50 feet across my yard. If I had been holding the end of the hose in my hand when it blew apart it likely would have resulted in an injury. After recovering all the parts of the hose I thoroughly inspected the hose, metal jacket, and inside of the connector that had blown off. I could not find any cracks, tears, or other faults that would have resulted in such a failure. Even if some air had gotten into the hose before I put the spray nozzle on it and turned the water back on, a hose rated for 500 PSI should not fail under such conditions. There is a chance that the hose was somehow damaged in transit, but without any noticable signs of damage I am concerned that there may be a design or manufacturing flaw that may allow for failure at pressures below listed tolerances. No matter the reason, the fact that failure of the end of the hose resulted in a piece of metal with sharp edges being launched at a relatively high velocity is problematic. Luckily no injuries resulted from the failure of the hose I ordered, but I would not advise use of this hose with the current end connectors attached to it. Which is unfortunate as I purchased this hose as a safer alternative to most other hoses as the materials in its construction have a much lower risk of containing dangerous contaminates. ... show more
