  • Great full-body workout, though most enjoyable with the iFit membership
If you're looking for a challenging full-body workout, this rower from Nordictrack provides a great experience that's far more comfortable and engaging than rowing machines I've used in the past. We have a few other machines — a recumbent bike, treadmill, and elliptical — and while they're all great I really appreciate how through of a workout I get from the rower. ASSEMBLY Putting this together took about 90 minutes with some breaks along the way — doing it start to finish without interruption, I think 60 minutes is realistic. You'll want a second person on hand, since certain steps (that are clearly marked in the manual) require steadying the unit or flipping it over. The included screwdriver, Allen wrench, and spanner are surprisingly good quality and would be worth holding onto even if the manual didn't recommend keeping them to periodically re-tighten parts. COMFORT & FIT For reference, I'm about 6 feet tall and 155lbs. I'm still building up my endurance and currently keeping sessions to 5-10 minutes, but it's been comfortable throughout — no complaints about the seat or rail so far. I'll update if anything changes as I work up to longer sessions. PERFORMANCE & FEEL The chair and rowing handle glide smoothly with minimal noise and you can adjust volume outputs independently in the settings. Everything feels solid and it's sturdy while rowing even with my uneven floors. SOFTWARE & IFIT Setup for the software/screen was quick and easy. The full range of workouts, which includes videos led by different trainers, requires a paid iFit subscription. It's pricy, but you do get more out of it including workouts filmed at different real-world locations which I ended up enjoying a lot more than I'd anticipated. PROS - Smooth, quiet gliding action on both the seat and handle - High-quality included tools, sturdy enough to keep long-term - Large, easy-to-read screen - Comfortable seat and rail, even for someone still building endurance CONS - Requires a second person for parts of assembly - Full workout library is locked behind a paid iFit subscription, and it's not cheap FINAL THOUGHTS The RW900 is well-built, quiet rower that's comfortable to use regardless of where you're at on your fitness journey. Its straightforward assembly felt pretty manageable and while I anticipated the location-based workouts feeling awkward, they're actually pretty engaging albeit at a premium. I'm really satisfied with its quality and highly recommend this if you're looking into rowers as it's really pleasant to use. ... show more

  • Review in progress, first impressions are a good sidegrade over the older model.
So full disclosure, I don't think this should be a complete review quite yet as I have not yet really given iFit a trial for at least a month. Once I go through a month of the program to really engage its worth and value, I will update the review accordingly. My first impressions of the new build, however, over the model that was unceremoniously taken off the market due to bad electronics, is that it's a decent upgrade, but also a mostly lateral one. Yes, You get a bigger screen. But there's some intriguing nickel-and-diming that goes along with that. You can get a trial of iFit that only works on smartphones, and the screen is completely useless if you don't get the Pro version of it. And the screen itself is incredibly heavy for what you get. I also have a few issues with the OS so far, where I'm just noticing the occasional crash the few times I initially set it up. I know this is new hardware and newer software, but this is likely going to dock at least 1 star as it goes on, if this continues to be a problem and they don't nip this software issue in the bud. The build quality of it is fairly outstanding so far. I do think that some of the plastic they're using is decent, but also slightly annoying at how brittle it is. For example when I'm tipping it upwards to store it, the plastic itself buckles a little bit. Personally, I'm putting some foam buffers on that part of the machine just to prevent this buckling from happening, and it may be due to the fact that I let it hit the ground with some decent speed when I set it up initially. People will complain about the rope mechanism being a nylon band, and I'm not seeing a huge improvement over the previous machines on that. So we'll see the longevity of that. The Concept2 is clearly the benchmark here, and I'm kind of surprised that NordicTrack is really not learning lessons here on that, but perhaps they know something I don't on the longevity of this machine. So far, my first impressions are actually pretty solid as an upgrade over the old RW900. The real concern here long-term is going to be whether iFit is worth the value over time, and whether the bulk of the machine that you're getting here translates to durability over time. I will update the review accordingly once I have more time with it. ... show more

  • Very nice machine, HEAVY!
This is a very nice machine. You need two-three people to move it depending on how strong they are. It’s heavy! Also nice to have the extra hands to help put it together. It comes with its own tool kit to put it together. The tools are labeled and say ifit on them so you know they are for the machine. This machine is sturdy and it’s not super loud. The display is a nice size and if you like a rower machine this is a very nice machine. Note you do need a subscription to use some of the features built into the display. ... show more

  • Excellent product
This Nordic Track rower is awesome. It is a top name brand, and is of the highest quality. I was lucky enough to get my husband to assemble and set it up. That took a couple of hours, and while not particularly difficult, was time consuming. Once set up, the rower is useable, but for those who want to utilize the bells and whistles, a subscription is necessary. It is a great way to program the workout level that is needed. While this is a bit pricey, it is priced about the same as the other brands. This is a proven name brand and is highly recommended. It is easy to use and perfect for working out. ... show more
