Like: - The adjustable current and delay settings work great - These settings are remembered by the device even after full power reset (after the charger is unplugged from the high voltage wall socket) - Charges my car so much faster than a level 1 charger. It’s great! Dislike: - My car (Bolt EV) has a programmable delayed charging mode, like most cars do. I typically program it so that charging will be completed just before I want to drive away in the morning. The car then decides when charging begins, typically a few hours after I plug in the charger in the evening. However, this feature does not work at all with the Pika charger. The charger wants to charge immediately after you plug it in, unless you’ve programmed a delay in the charger itself. If you haven’t programmed a delay, but the car does not wish to start charging immediately, the charger keeps making a clicking sound and in a minute or so, the Bolt displays a “Charging failed” message. This is a problem because I cannot use any “departure charging” features or program the car to stop charging during peak hours. ... show more

I think I received a returned charger; the back of the charging block had some debris, minor scratches, and the clear protective plastic was already pealing off. Also, I didn't receive the booklet or warranty card shown in the Product Description "3 What will you get." However, it seems to be working fine and it's been charging my car up much faster than the 120V Charger that came with it. I would have rather know for certain if I was received a new charger or a returned one. Just had some severe rain go through and it kept charging fine. Finally, the useable cord from the Block to the J1772 plug is only 19ft, not 25ft. I didn't realize there'd be almost 6ft from the 6-50 plug to the useable cord; that's more than 20% of the 25ft overall length. Honestly I was expecting 25ft of cord from the charging block to J1772 plug. ... show more

    • great charger for those living in apartments with garages

My apartments have a garage which allows me to plug into it and charge my car. The problem is, they have the garage outlet in the same outlet as the master bathroom, which has a 15a GFCi on the circuit. Using another charger which pulls 16a means that it trips the GFCi and I cant charge. This one allows you to choose how many amps to pull and how fast to charge the vehicle, and how long you want to wait before charging, all with just a small rfid chip that you can put on your keychain. I charge at 8a (I've only seen it do 7.2a) and it works great. My GFCi hasn't tripped and the car charges just fine at 8a. Also my battery isn't sitting at 100% all the time. Update: I got the apartments to swap out the GFCI with an EATON one and now I can get 15 amps charging, if needed. I normally leave it on 12. ... show more

The scheduled charging function is malfunctioning. Despite attempting to use it for five consecutive nights, it only functioned correctly for three nights, while it failed to charge the battery on the other two nights.

Part of why we bought this MEGEAR Pika Level 2 EV Charger is the 2-year warranty stated in the Amazon listing. BUT the warranty card in the box says 1-year. Also the photos show the unit mounted outdoors in the rain, but the manual says do not expose to extreme moisture. So I sent a message a week ago to Megear customer service (you can't call them) asking for clarification, and so far have not received a reply. I have not installed the unit, so I can't comment on its performance. But the fact that the company has been uncommunicative for a full week now makes me cautious about unpacking and installing it. I think the safest thing will be to just send it back to Amazon for a refund. UPDATE: finally got a reply (after second attempt at emailing) from Megear customer service. They said that even though the warranty card says 12 months, the warranty if purchased through Amazon is 2 years. Hmmm... And that while the manual suggests avoiding damp or humid installation locations, it is okay to install outside. Again, hmmm... Well, will still probably return, but at least I got a reply! ... show more

The OEM charger included with my 2020 Audi Q5e is limited to 8A on Level 1, taking about 26 hours for a full charge. This Level 1 charger set to 16A reduced my charging times to 8 hours for a full charge. I like the information shown on the display and the charging cable length. The charging plug is a tighter fit than OEM, but just needs a little more force to plug and unplug. ... show more
