  • Grizzl-E Classic Level 2 EV Charger: The Torque Monster of Home Charging
Color: Avalanche Style: NEMA 14-50 Plug
The Grizzl-E Classic Level 2 EV Charger is the unsung hero of the electric vehicle world—a charger that puts in the work without the need for flashy gimmicks. This unit brings the kind of raw power that makes you feel like you're tuning your EV for a Nürburgring lap. With a 32-amp output at 240V, this charger pushes electrons into your battery with the finesse of a turbocharged V8 on full boost. Its rugged, no-nonsense design is built like a tank—ready to endure the harshest conditions and still crank out juice as if nothing happened. It’s built in Canada, so you know it’s weatherproofed for anything, whether it’s a polar vortex or a scorching heatwave. Installation is a breeze, too. Once plugged in, it delivers consistent power without breaking a sweat, making daily charging a smooth, seamless experience. The Grizzl-E might lack smart features like app control or Wi-Fi, but that’s part of its charm—it’s like opting for a manual transmission because you crave full control. This thing is a torque monster in the world of chargers, and it's a dream for car nerds who value performance over techy distractions. If you’re in for a no-frills powerhouse, Grizzl-E is your go-to pit stop. ... show more

  • It just does the job with no frills, great build quality.
Color: Avalanche Style: NEMA 14-50 Plug
We've only had this a few weeks, but we're extremely satisfied with it. It's built like a tank, feels like it will last forever, installation was very simple (used included bracket to attach it to a stud). Operation is as simple as can be, no apps or scheduling, we rely on our vehicle for that. I liked that you could set the amperage, as we have a 40 amp line that needs this to be set at 32 (which was easy to do). The bracket for hanging the plug and cord works, but doesn't feel up to the same quality of the main unit. Also be aware that the cord is VERY heavy duty. This a good thing from an operational/safety standpoint, but does make it more awkward to loop it over the hanger. We got it for our new Toyota Rav4 PHEV, went from 12 hours for a full charge with Toyota cable to 2.5 hours with this one. I expect it will last at least as long as the car. ... show more

  • Well Made, easy to install
Color: Avalanche Style: NEMA 14-50 Plug
Packaged well and arrived as promised. Just installed and did my first charge with no issues. Heavy-duty cables and a sturdy box. Make sure you have a stud to mount it on, as the box is relatively heavy and would not do well with traditional drywall anchors. The plug cord is not terribly long, so it must be mounted near the receptacle. Not an issue, as a shorter cord is probably better with a 40-amp draw over many hours, but something to take into account when setting up your installation. Installed the receptacle myself, and used a high-end 60-amp Square D breaker, a solid high-end plug instead of the cheap ones built for a dryer, and the heaviest wire the plug and receptacle would take. Didn't have any heat issues at all with the first multi-hour charge, with my install or the unit cable, and that's what I was looking for. Almost $200 in materials for a self-install, but worth every penny to not worry about burning the garage down ;-) My first charge was at 9.4ah instead of the 1.2ah that my level one charger was giving me, charging at 7-8 times faster, which is perfect for a 40amp. No buggy apps, just plug and play, simple and easy. Made in Canada and apparently made well. Will update the review with any changes or issues, but so far, I would recommend to anyone who wants a sturdy charger without complications. ... show more

  • Simple, reliable, durable, fair price.
Color: Avalanche Style: NEMA 14-50 Plug
This is an updated review after almost two years of use. I am still impressed by the manufacturing quality and durability of this charger. I have had no issues with this charger at all. It performs exactly as expected. I bought it because I wanted simple and durable, and this has delivered. No bluetooth, no wifi, no programming, no digital displays, just a plug. I program the car itself to charge at off peak hours, all I have to do is remember to plug it in when I get home. ... show more

  • Very robust, works well, completely satisfied.
Color: Avalanche Style: NEMA 14-50 Plug
I purchased the Grizzl-E Classic Level 2, 40 Amp with the NEMA 14-50 plug. Everything about it is robust. The aluminum case that houses the electric/electronic components is very rigid and heavy. The cables are flexible yet sturdy. The J1772 connector is solid and fits correctly. I prefer that this charger has no wireless communication or app that you'd have to use with a smart-phone to get it to work. In my opinion, those are unnecessary. My car's app gives me all the control I need or want. There is no need to pay twice for technology to duplicate what I already have. Additional information comes from a single multi-function/multicolor LED that shows ready, in use, finished charging and also flashes trouble codes (explained in the manual). I plugged it in, and it just worked. I like the fact that this charger is made in North America. According to the manufacturer's website, all the materials and electronics are sourced in Canada or the USA. I'm no electrical engineer, but opening the chassis (4 screws, it's designed to be opened) increased my confidence. Everything is laid out well, and clearly labeled. The electrical connections and components inside seem especially solid, and of good quality. The good workmanship inside is obvious. The user's manual is clear and plain English, with good illustrations and straightforward explanations. It's all the information you need, logically laid out. Amperage output is selectable through small switches inside. I chose 30 Amp output, (my car only has a 6.6 kW inverter, so it can draw no more than 27 Amps) but higher and lower outputs are also possible. I chose to hard-wire the charger. The Grizzl-E already has GFCI (ground circuit interrupter) protection, built in, but in my jurisdiction, any receptacle in a potentially wet location, such as a garage floor, requires a GFCI circuit breaker. Since double GFCI is potentially problematic and GFCI breakers and high-quality NEMA 14-50 receptacles are expensive, hard-wiring was an obvious -- and considerably less expensive solution. The only complaint I have is that the "holster" that holds the J-1772 connector when not is use does not permit you to use the provided J-1772 dust and moisture cap. However, since my charger is at the back of the garage, the holster alone should sufficiently protect the J-1772 connector's contacts. That niggle aside, the holster also holds the charger's cord when not in use, so that's a plus. All in all, I'm very satisfied. I recommend it without hesitation. ... show more
