The "dumb" charger -- meaning not the 'smart' charger is what I came to purchase after reading about the internet connectivity issues. This charger is simple, works great, looks great and I am very happy with this item. Easy Installation: The NEMA 14-50 plug makes setup a breeze – just plug it in, and you’re ready to go. No need for complicated wiring or professional installation unless you’re mounting it permanently. [yes, there should be a cover on the exterior NEMA outlet! - but that is between me and my electrician... separate from the grizzl-e itself,] Robust Build Quality: The metal case enclosure feels solid and built to last. I’m really impressed with the Grizzl-E Classic so far. The matte black metal enclosure looks sharp and durable, and installation was incredibly easy — just plug into the NEMA 14-50 outlet and go. Performance-wise, it’s already outshining the original Audi charger that came with the vehicle. Charging is noticeably faster, and the LED status light is simple and intuitive. One of the standout features for me was the long cable — much more convenient than expected — and the holster dock is cleverly designed. You can insert the charging end at an angle, and it clicks securely into place without fuss. Another major plus: it doesn’t overheat in the hot Colorado sun like my old charger used to. Even on scorching days, it runs cool and reliable. All in all, a great value for a tough, dependable Level 2 charger. Highly recommend if you're looking for a no-nonsense, high-performing unit that just works.

It’s working as expected. Simple to install and adjust to 32 amp. Not a “smart” charger, no wi-fi connection complications, but exactly what I need at this point. Price is reasonable as a replacement for my previous 4-year old JuiceBox 40. I think 32 amp is the sweet spot for charging my 2021 VW ID4.

More and more manufacturers are deleting the previously included mobile chargers when purchasing a new EV. I had the misfortune of being of the of the lucky ones in my new EV purchase. We recently got rid of our 21 Telsa Model Y and got a 23 Ford Mach-E. While we had previously installed a NEMA 14-50 plug that served us well for the included Telsa Mobile charger with a 14-50 adapter; Ford wanted to charge us $500 for the same setup. The Grizzl-E Classic is a well built, cost friendly, cosmetically attractive and easy to install charger. I like how I could choose been themes for the exterior cover of the charger and to which we ultimately went with an Avalanche one to blend in better with the garage background. The charger came well packaged with a surprise bag of microwave popcorn.(maybe a Canadian thing 😊 ) Setup was easy, I simply located a spot close to my 14-50 plug, found a stud, installed their bracket and it was up and running in no time. With the existing 14-50 plug, no electrical knowledge is required. I really like the quality of the charger cable(thick) and the actual J1772 plug as the top metal prong is metal(most are plastic) and the release button is the same type of metal. I also like that the cap for the connector is physically connected to the edge of the plug. As to charging, my EV had no issue connecting to the Grizzl-E and it starting charging at a stable 8 kw. There were no charging faults or issues with my last several charging events. As to the lack of smart features, I really don’t think that’s a detractor at all as they are not needed with most modern EVs as most have onboard scheduling for off peak charging. I simply plug in and walk away with a charged car the next day without a hitch. Good job Grizzl-E for a well designed, affordable level 2 charger.

This is a basic charger that should not be dismissed. No smart features to go wrong but it performs the bare essentials in a no nonsense manner. It is built to an unbelievably high level. It's not compact junk plastic, the main box is thick high quality aluminum that will stand up to all sorts of abuse. I really appreciate the long cord since the charger is mounted on wall near right rear and my charge port is on the left front fender. I run it up to the ceiling and drop it down near the charge port. Was able to secure the holster to a vertical surface so the plug in doesn't dangle by the vehicle. my 240v circuit is 30 amp so I dial down the internal dip switches to 24 amps; vehicle adds 16-18 miles of range per hour which is fine for my limited daily use. I generally only charge to 50-65%.
