  • Powerful, Reliable, and Perfect for Car Detailing
Style: MC1385
I bought this steam cleaner specifically for car detailing, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The steam power is strong, consistent, and incredibly effective at lifting dirt, stains, and even stubborn grime from upholstery and carpets, without using any harsh chemicals. The attachments are a game-changer. From tight corners to floor mats and vents, there’s a tool for every need. It’s also lightweight and easy to maneuver, which makes long detailing sessions less tiring. What surprised me most is how quickly it heats up and how long it lasts on a full tank. It’s compact enough to store easily, but powerful enough to handle professional level cleaning. If you’re looking for a high-performing steam cleaner for home or automotive use, this is it. Definitely worth the investment! ... show more

  • Things I didn't like about my previous steamer
Style: MC1385
I have been using steam to clean for many years. My mom bought a multi-use steamer when I was about 14 and I've been using it ever since. When I moved out on my own, I got the steamer and my mom upgraded. Used it ever since. It finally crapped out after over 10 years, so I know a few things about steam cleaning and there are some tricks to it. I decided to buy this one because it had a big water tank and had a lot of features. Things I didn't like about my previous steamer. Pros: Large water tank- that doesn't mean you should fill it all the way though. If you fill it full, there is no room for the steam and heat to expand and you won't get good pressure or amount of steam. This is true of ALL STEAMERS. If you over fill them, it won't work well. Fill it about half to 75% - I use an old smallish pitcher and am able to steam a LOT without refilling. Long power cord- I can roll this thing around my kitchen, dining room, front room, and hallway without unplugging it. Admittedly I don't have a huge house, but the cord is as long or longer than my vacuum cord. It is really nice to not have to unplug and replug in every room. Long steam hose- this hose is awesomely long. It doesn't lose pressure or heat and still comes out strong. I can put the tank in the middle of my hall or kitchen and still reach everything I want to steam. Steam adjuster on the handle- very cool feature I've never had before! I am able to customize how much steam I get for different tasks. I adjusted it a few times while steaming and it is a very useful feature. I can have delicate steam for light things, vertical surfaces, or fabrics. I can have heavy steam for bathrooms and kitchen stuff, or old/ thick tough things. The pressure gauge- I like it, but it isn't needed. It seems to just upset people who don't understand how pressure vessels work. Yes, the gauge goes up higher than the highest the machine will go, obviously. It is kind of a safety feature, because if it hit the top of the scale how would you know what the actual pressure was; if something went wrong and the pressure went higher than it was supposed to you wouldn't know. Also I see lots of people complaining that the pressure drops from 4 to 2. Yeah. Duh, you are releasing pressure, but it takes a while to drop. But you can steam perfectly fine at 2 anyway; I did for like half an hour before I was done for the day. And if you wait maybe five minutes, it is back up to 4. By the way, it only takes MAYBE fifteen minutes to heat up from a room temperature start. And I'm tired of people complaining about heat up time: for that amount of water, it isn't going to be instant obviously. Heating less water in a tea kettle on the stove can take just as long. Just go get the rags to wipe with or go to the bathroom, whatever. It gets hot- I see someone complaining about the steam being n Easy fill spout- it is super easy to fill without a funnel. But you have to go slow or it will burp at you. ;) Wheels and handle- really easy to move around. My old steamer was small but rested on a shoulder strap that got heavy and banged around. It was exhausting, this is easy to move around! Con: No place to wind the hose- it isn't too bad but it could have easily been a clip Handle gets a little warm- after about 30 minutes to an hour, it got warm. Not hot enough that I had to stop but, warm enough to notice. But after that long of steam running through it it isn't the surprising or unusual. I wasn't bothered enough to quit what I was doing. OVERALL I really like this steamer. It feels well made and if you use it appropriately it won't break. It isn't magic, but it makes cleaning so much easier. You still have to wipe things up, tough things will take longer or some scrubbing. I've used it several times in the week since I've had it and it works as expected. But some people have crazy expectations. Some tips: Be reasonable, it is a tool for cleaning, not a replacement for work. Don't over fill it. Adjust the steam to the lowest and raise as needed. I use old towels to wipe, and green scrubbers for tough stuff. I've cleaned my fridge, baby stuff, glass top stove, bathroom sinks, grungy doors(you know where they get funky from hands by the knob), a pan with baked on BBQ sauce, all my light switches and plates, bathroom shower, and a few other small things. ... show more

  • Specific case purchase - pet cleanup
Style: MC1275
It was a rough couple of weeks. First a red wine spill, and then an accident with a sick dog - the area rug in the den was definitely taking more damage than it should. Cleanup consisted of the normal spray carpet cleaner, plenty of lathering, and scrubbing with clean towels. That was enough to dispatch about 80% of the stains, with relatively faint hints of the horrors from before at center-mass. I figured that it would be nice to have some more cleanup tools at my disposal, so I started researching my options. Generally speaking, I wanted something small and portable, since I normally need spot duty (and not Dexter-level) cleanup. I'd previously bought larger carpet cleaners (with heated or unheated water) that were essentially combo-wetvacs. I never found those to be any better than what I could do with cleaner, a nylon brush, water, and a regular wetvac, so I took a pass this time. I settled on steam, and specifically this unit. Reviews and price were probably the biggest draws for me, but I did notice that my particular use case was different from the bulk of the reviewers. Packaging/build quality The unit arrived in a small box with no real inner pack material. The item is simple and durable, so it did not sustain any shipping damage. Some care should be taken while unboxing the item, since the power cable and long steam hose are unbound within the box - depending on how the steamer is sitting within the box, a boxcutter could damage important components. There are some plastic bags for the accessories. The unit requires minimal assembly, as the handle perch comes in one of the bags. The screw that attaches it to the base is already set in the riser, which is good because the riser is pretty long. Since many are not likely to have a screwdriver that can reach the screw, McCulloch was nice enough to include a screwdriver specifically for the job. While it's not the highest quality tool, you will not be tempted to throw it away after use. The reservoir cap is pretty heavy-duty... brass, with a decent amount of heft. It's an important safety feature, as you're working with a pressure vessel. The selection of attachments is impressive, but I really only plan on using the nylon brushes (I already have a steam mop for the tile floors). Usage The steamer is pretty straightforward. Open the cap, fit the funnel, pour in water, close the cap, and turn on the unit. I recommend that you don't put in significantly more water than you will use in your cleaning session. Also, if you're in an area with hard water (as I am), I suggest you buy some distilled water to use. I have no idea what the heated surface looks like in the bowels of the unit, but you probably want to avoid scale (and I wouldn't want to use vinegar or CLR in the device). There's a coil-reinforced plastic hose running to the control head of the device. You affix the accessory of your choosing to the end. The control head has a couple buttons to control the steam. Results I had luck removing the remnants of a red wine stain from a week or two before. I also was able to remove the rest of the pet accident (from a few days prior). It was a great result, but the nylon brush did cause some premature wear on the area rug. Overall, it was a great result. Buoyed by the favorable result, tried the cleaner on some OLD (like 2016) stain remnants on carpet. The results were much more modest, but I don't consider that an indictment of the unit's performance. Conclusion This unit is inexpensive, to the point where you should probably buy one if you think you will have occasion to use it ANY TIME WITHIN THE REST OF YOUR LIFETIME. Having to wait 2-3 days for it to arrive may be way too late to do a proper cleanup job. Most of the tools that come with this cleaner are intended for hard surfaces, but I don't really plan to use it for that. This device will not fix all of your problems, but it will definitely help if you have pet vs. fabric/carpet/rug incidents. RECOMMENDED Notes The hose is not insulated in any meaningful way. While it didn't get overly hot in my use, I didn't use a massive amount of steam through it in a single session, so YMMV. The hose is also not particularly heavy-duty. While the hose doesn't have to hold significant pressure, it is important that the hose not have any punctures or holes caused from wear/fatigue, since the operator could conceivably be burned. ... show more
