Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Bissell Steam Mop has garnered mixed reviews but overall favorable ones. Customers have described the mop as efficient, powerful, and capable of making floors shine. However, issues around its durability were raised along with aspects like the fit of the mop pads and the functionality of the scrub brush. Despite this, the positives seemed to outweigh the negatives as users loved the cleanliness and freshness the mop brought to their floors.

Pros

  • 🔹 Provides a high steam output for efficient cleaning
  • 🔸 Lightweight and easy to maneuver around homes
  • 🔹 Long cord length that facilitates seamless cleaning of large spaces
  • 🔸 Had impressive results on various surfaces including tiles and hardwood floors
  • 🔹 The mop leaves floors feeling smooth and clean

Cons

  • 🔻 Durability issues have been reported, with some units malfunctioning within a year
  • 🔸 The mop pads are a tight fit and can be difficult to change
  • 🔻 The mop doesn't lock in place when standing up
  • 🔸 The scrub brush tends to pop off when too much pressure is applied

Should I Buy It?

Despite minor issues with durability and certain design elements, the Bissell Steam Mop performs well and delivers a high level of cleanliness. Its benefits well outweigh its cons, and it would be a worthwhile purchase for those looking to eliminate traditional mopping with a bucket. As long as expectations are managed about the durability and consumers are ready to handle some of its design quirks, this should be a great addition to most homes.

  • Our old one lasted 10 years
Style: Powerfresh
I owned the standard version for 10 years. Now, granted, we didn't use it consistently all of those years. There were some years where it sat gathering dust because I only had the two pads that came with it and it was a pain to drag out. When we bought a house with my mother-in-law, she desired something more effective to mop with. So I opened Amazon and low and behold, there were now generic mop pad replacements on the cheap. I ordered a 10-pack, and now we could mop every day without needing to do a load of laundry in between. She loves the steam mop. To be honest, I do too. It's easier to push and it gets so much cleaner than any other mop I've tried. So after 10 years of on-and-off use (more so in the last 3 years), my original mop finally stopped making steam. I took the thing apart trying to see if something was clogged somewhere (DON'T do it unless you're a technician). It was time to buy a new one and I figured that since we use it so much (12 people live in our house), we deserved a deluxe mop. So I upgraded. I will say that the scrubby part is a little more clunky to use than the flip down scrubby on the original version, but it's more effective. It wasn't a huge upgrade to go to deluxe. The mop heads up quickly and the control panel on the deluxe makes a little more sense than the original. The best part is all my pads are compatible with it. Otherwise, I look forward to a few years of consistent use out of this mop! ... show more

  • My new favorite toy!
Style: Powerfresh
Love it! Easy setup, takes about 2 mins. It does require a screwdriver to screw in the handle but it's very simple. Comes with two pads a soft pad and more scrubber kind of pad. If you live in a 1bedroom apartment you can probably survive off two pads however I would recommend ordering a pack of replacements off Amazon that are compatible with the device. It also comes with two fragrance pads if you want a scented clean. The important part is to ensure you only use distilled water as it's mineral free and using tap water will lead to buildup and quicker deterioration of the steam mop. I was able to clean the entire house tile and only had to re-add water once. The cord length is very good and once plugged in it takes about 30 seconds for the steam mop to heat up and then once you select your steam level high or low it takes about another minute for the steam to kick in. ... show more

  • I’m in love with this machine!!! (I know, so weird, lol, but it is AMAZING!!!)
Style: Powerfresh
I was skeptical of some of the reviews talking about how well it cleaned their grout - UNTIL I USED IT. Oh my gosh - I knew my grout needed some scrubbing for sure, but didn’t have the energy to get down on my hands and knees with a scrub brush. (Ok, who am I kidding? I wouldn’t ever want to do that anyway? Lol!) The scrubber brush on this machine along with the high heat steam did an AMAZING job with very little effort! I was actually dumbfounded watching the dirt just disappear!!! (See photos and don’t judge the grout grime, haha! My grout is normally a light tan - and these photos were taken after running the scrubber over the area back and forth maybe 3x applying little to no pressure. While it’s not perfect, it is a 95% improvement - I’ll take it!) Piece of advice - get extra mop pads (they sell non-Bissell ones for very cheap - I got 6 extras for $16.99)! Using the scrubber releases a lot more steam, so if you use the mop pad to soak it all up afterwards, the mop pad saturates pretty quickly (doing it this way I felt like I was pushing dirty water around). Being able to change out the mop pad makes a big difference in how clean the floor looks as well. I switched to using towels after doing some scrubbing - I’d use the scrubber, then wipe with the towel (with my foot - no bending down each time) - then once I’d scrubbed all I was going to scrub, I’d do a final pass with the mop pad attached. This machine is literally a game changer for me. It makes the job of getting all the grime off the grout much less daunting and doesn’t use any chemicals or leave any cleaning product residue like mopping can. In a house with a cat, 2 large dogs along with my family, our floors get dirty quick - this is a great way to quickly freshen up the floors! My floors look better than they have in probably 5+ years after using this! Pros: -heats up very quickly - less than 30 seconds -scrub tool is easy to use and takes very little effort for it to work really well -detaching mop pad/head is easy -mop pad cover is easy to get on/off -mop pad covers can be tossed in the washing machine after use Cons: -I wish the water tank was a little larger (when you use the scrubber, you use a lot more water than just using the mop head w/a pad - so it runs out quickly) Word of caution: if you take off the mop head to use the scrubber, be careful when reattaching the head - the parts where it clips together get hot! I think it would be easy to get burned if you don’t pay attention. I really couldn’t be more pleased with this steamer - I have actually recommended it to several people already and I’ve had it less than a week! ... show more

  • Works fabulously but life span is short - going to try distilled water only
Style: Powerfresh
I am now choosing this mop for the THIRD time. Am I a fool? Maybe. The first Bissell 1806 mop I bought worked exceptionally but stopped making steam after about 9 mos. I called Bissell and they sent me out another one, as it was under warranty. That mop worked fine for just over 2 years, then it also stopped creating steam. Now that one is headed to the landfill; warranty is expired. Unless you buy an extended warranty for 3 years, this seems to be a 2-year-life-span-maximum mop. Bummer. However, I really like the functionality of this mop, hence the reason why I just bought the same one yet AGAIN - even after consulting consumer reports and looking at what the new competition is! I really love how you can easily (while mopping) pop off the mop head with the foot release to expose the brush head and scrub at tough, stuck-on messes or even scrub the grout on a tile floor with ease... and it really gets it clean! Then you can just insert it back in the mop head and move on. The water tank is a decent size, and the cord is 25 feet which is fairly long. The water gets hot, hot, hot! And fairly quickly. There are other mops that have the scrubber/brush head but you have to stop the mop and change the heads. Not convenient and you might have to wait for the mop head to cool down. I am thinking that my hard water in my area is what is eventually killed my second steam mop, so I'm going to try distilled water only from now on, and will even try the new scented distilled waters on the market. We'll see how that goes. I took away one star because of the shorter life span, (I don' think hard water killed my first Bissell 1806) but otherwise this is a 5 star steam mop in my book. ... show more
