🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Bissell Steam Mop has garnered mixed reviews but overall favorable ones. Customers have described the mop as efficient, powerful, and capable of making floors shine. However, issues around its durability were raised along with aspects like the fit of the mop pads and the functionality of the scrub brush. Despite this, the positives seemed to outweigh the negatives as users loved the cleanliness and freshness the mop brought to their floors.

Pros

  • 🔹 Provides a high steam output for efficient cleaning
  • 🔸 Lightweight and easy to maneuver around homes
  • 🔹 Long cord length that facilitates seamless cleaning of large spaces
  • 🔸 Had impressive results on various surfaces including tiles and hardwood floors
  • 🔹 The mop leaves floors feeling smooth and clean

Cons

  • 🔻 Durability issues have been reported, with some units malfunctioning within a year
  • 🔸 The mop pads are a tight fit and can be difficult to change
  • 🔻 The mop doesn't lock in place when standing up
  • 🔸 The scrub brush tends to pop off when too much pressure is applied

Should I Buy It?

Despite minor issues with durability and certain design elements, the Bissell Steam Mop performs well and delivers a high level of cleanliness. Its benefits well outweigh its cons, and it would be a worthwhile purchase for those looking to eliminate traditional mopping with a bucket. As long as expectations are managed about the durability and consumers are ready to handle some of its design quirks, this should be a great addition to most homes.

  • Get your floors clean.
Style: PowerFresh Deluxe
This steam mop works great on my tile floors. Cleans the tile so much better than a regular mop. Easy to operate, light weight and gets under furniture very well. I highly recommend this product to get your floors very clean. A very good value for the money.

  • So nice, I bought it twice
Style: PowerFresh Deluxe
Ok, so I didn't completely follow the manufacturer's instructions for the first one. I used tap water, which is extremely hard. That one lasted about a year. The second one is on its second year with DISTILLED WATER ONLY. The distilled part is important, apparently. These work really well. I bought a bunch of extra pads because sometimes it takes a few to get through all of the rooms. One thing I like to do is get the pad wet before I put it on the machine, otherwise it makes very narrow paths before the whole thing is wet. I have also used this on the vinyl floor of my boat. It's a textured surface and the scrubber helps for the really dirty spots. I will buy this again if I need to. ... show more

  • Works fabulously but life span is short - going to try distilled water only
Style: PowerFresh Deluxe
I am now choosing this mop for the THIRD time. Am I a fool? Maybe. The first Bissell 1806 mop I bought worked exceptionally but stopped making steam after about 9 mos. I called Bissell and they sent me out another one, as it was under warranty. That mop worked fine for just over 2 years, then it also stopped creating steam. Now that one is headed to the landfill; warranty is expired. Unless you buy an extended warranty for 3 years, this seems to be a 2-year-life-span-maximum mop. Bummer. However, I really like the functionality of this mop, hence the reason why I just bought the same one yet AGAIN - even after consulting consumer reports and looking at what the new competition is! I really love how you can easily (while mopping) pop off the mop head with the foot release to expose the brush head and scrub at tough, stuck-on messes or even scrub the grout on a tile floor with ease... and it really gets it clean! Then you can just insert it back in the mop head and move on. The water tank is a decent size, and the cord is 25 feet which is fairly long. The water gets hot, hot, hot! And fairly quickly. There are other mops that have the scrubber/brush head but you have to stop the mop and change the heads. Not convenient and you might have to wait for the mop head to cool down. I am thinking that my hard water in my area is what is eventually killed my second steam mop, so I'm going to try distilled water only from now on, and will even try the new scented distilled waters on the market. We'll see how that goes. I took away one star because of the shorter life span, (I don' think hard water killed my first Bissell 1806) but otherwise this is a 5 star steam mop in my book. ... show more

  • Very Good!
Style: PowerFresh Deluxe
UPDATED ONE YEAR LATER: After using this for one year I thought I would add an update. I am still v e r y pleased with this stem mop. It does the job. Vacuum well before using the Bissel for best results. Two very small niggles have emerged. 1. The handle is NOT very ergonomic and if you have any arthritis in your hands you might consider padding the handle. I have not yet dine this, but plan to look for an appropriate wrapping maybe to use over a bit of foam. 2. The cord does not like to stay ‘clipped’ and sometimes comes undone. I still find steam mopping the best and safest solution for cleaning my floors…especially with pets who can be sensitive to many cleaning products. I do enjoy adding just a hunt of organic essential oils to the “scent board” that fits into the plastic holder. It adds just enough to refresh the air without endangering my critter family members. I do remove the board after every use because essential oils could damage the plastic if left in place too long. I Have had no problems at all. ++++++++++++++++ I wanted a mop that was lightweight, easy to maneuver, did not require the use of cleaning powders or liquids, reduced bacteria and virus’ , stores easily in as small a space as possible. I ordered this Bissell and basically got exactly what I wanted! i have used a steam cleaner in the past (like 20 years ago) - it was a canister model that did a decent job but was a bit clunky to lug about. As age encroaches I found that I wanted a lighter, easier to manage steam mop that was light, easy to use, and cleaned like a wizard. I started doing some research and landed i. the Bissel. I am sensitive to many cleaning products. Steam sanitizes without the need for cleaning products! This model is easier to use and has very few - if any- negatives. Pros: * Lightweight * Very easy to maneuver. The cleaning head swivels to get into most any odd shaped or small area. * Produces prodigious steam in very little time. * Has two steam settings : regular steam and prodigious steam! * Easy to refill with water * Simple and intuitive to use. * The cleaning pads are well made, fit securely, clean very well and wash up perfectly. To me thats’s a win! Potential Cons * For anyone with arthritis in your hands and wrists - the handle could use a bit of padding. Certainly not a deal breaker but thought I would mention it. * Uses distilled water. I drink filtered water and I think that it will be sufficient - does not use all that much! I used it on vinyl flooring, LVP flooring, and tile flooring and it worked like a champ on all of them. Good product. Reasonable price. Clean, sanitized, floors! ... show more

  • YOU NEED THIS STEAM MOP!!!
Style: PowerFresh Deluxe
Fantastic! I have two large dogs. This steam mop not only uses steam to steam clean the floors, but it also removes doggy odor from the floor. While using the steam mop, I squirt a solution of half antibacterial pine cleaner, half water onto the floor which really contributes to the clean and helps in killing and eliminating fleas and flea eggs. Sounds gross, but if you have dogs, regardless of whether they are treated with flea medication or not, fleas will appear. This steam mop lasted me two years, but I did purchase the extended three year warranty because I love this mop. It's worth every penny. Just make sure and buy extra scrubber pads. ... show more

  • Great steam mop
Style: PowerFresh Deluxe
I bought this to clean my laminate kitchen floors. The only thing that got them clean was to get down and scrub them and that wasn't going to happen on a regular basis. I've tried the old school pull-the-handle type mops, specially bought triangle shaped scrubby mops, wetjets, and swab the deck type mops. None of them got the grit out from the design in the laminate. Whoever gave laminate floors to the world clearly never mopped laminate floors. The steam mop was the last resort. I'd been putting it off since they're expensive but finally caved. It works great. It took high steam and a few passes but eventually my kitchen floors started to look newish. I think over time it'll get better/cleaner. I had planned on using it only in the kitchen and bathroom since I have wood floors. I decided to try it on low steam and it worked nicely as well. You shouldn't let it 'sit' on the wood floor long and it shouldn't cause damage if your floors are sealed. Might want to test it out first. I could tell a difference vs the swab the deck mop I normally use. The floors looked much cleaner. It doesn't take long to warm up, like 30sec. The filling cup is helpful but it doesn't fit on my mop handle like other people said they should. It'll kind of halfway fit or cling to it but as soon as I move the mop it pops off. I use distilled water. I use distilled water in my iron for my sewing projects so I had it around anyway. I believe it's recommended. One full tank will last my whole 1 bedroom apartment on low steam. One tank on high will get my kitchen and bathroom with water leftover (depending on how fast I went). I haven't used the scent discs, so I can't comment. I took off one star for a couple reasons. While the long cord is useful, it's more a pain for me. I have to constantly pull it out of the way and find it kind of frustrating. The mop pads can be a pain to get on. They both have friction issues which makes it difficult to push and pull the mop like a vacuum cleaner. The front of the pad gets kind of pulled under the mop head and causes it to drag if you try to push the mop away from you. You have to go slow and gentle to get it to kind of work. It doesn't seem like the extra scrubby pad really helps all that much to be honest. I've tossed both pads in the washing machine, air dried. They're cleaner but there's still dirt stains on them. I'm not surprised but disappointed. Overall, the mop is great and I don't regret spending the money on it. I kind of wish I had just spent the money on this instead of all those other mops. ... show more
