  • Very portable, easy set up, quick to light and heat up. Love it.
Style: Grill with Cart
Ok, I love this little grill. I needed something I can throw in the back of my truck, or in the trailer to take to weekend rodeos. This fits the bill perfectly. Takes me less then 2 minutes to collapse it and put it in the truck. 2 minute setup. Not the most even cooking temps, but, shift stuff around a bit and it works great. I've done steaks, burgers, chicken, pork loin, and brats. All came out fantastic. Gets hot enough, holds temp well with the lid closed, doesnt use much charcoal. any complaints you read about getting the firestarters to stay in the holder, just get these Stanbroil 108 pcs Fire Starters, Natural Charcoal Fire Starters and you wont have any problems at all. ... show more

  • Very well made.

After assembling and testing this grill I am very impressed. Everything is reasonably high quality and it works exactly as advertised. Its a 10/10 when it comes to performance in my opinion. You will get smoky evenly-cooked food and the clever design of the interior prevents flareups. There were only a few minor issues. One was that the outer cover for the temperature/fan control knob came off in the package and seemed to have barely been glued on. Note that this wasn't the actual knob mechanism itself, just sort of a plastic cover that went on it that adds grip and a dot to show what temperature it's currently set to. I glued it back on and it works fine now. Another mild issue was that a few screws and bolts around the pre-assembled parts of the grill were loose. I did a once over to tighten everything and its fine now, it's something you might want to do if you purchase this. Otherwise this is a fantastic product and the cartless option is a total steal for the price. The material is all thick and either powder coated or stainless steel and doesn't feel cheap at all. One last thing to keep in mind is that if you get it with the cart it doesn't just pop off easily. The cart is thoroughly screwed to the base of the grill. It's still very low profile and portable with the cart attached, but it does have a longer profile and is going to need more storage/trunk space if you're mainly looking at this grill for camping or tailgating. ... show more

  • Almost perfect. Couple of minor issues.
Style: Grill with Cart
Initial review: Box arrived damaged. When opening and assembling the grill, I noticed that one of the plastic trays was chipped. I had to glue the piece back on. Assembly was rather smooth and easy. Once assembled, I noticed that the cover for the heat knob kept spinning when turned. This was due to the small or lack of glue inside. Poor craftsmanship. I had to apply additional glue inside the cover for the knob and put it back on. Now the grill can turns on when I turn the knob. I have not done a burn off or preseason of the grill yet. I will update this review after further tests. ... show more

  • $500 book told me to get this
Style: Grill with Cart
I got tired of the cheap $50 Walmart kettle pots my mom would bring by the house, insisting that we should barbeque together. Finally, I cranked out my $500 Modernist Cuisine collection and turned to the part where it talks about grilling. Basically, you want something that is reflective and angular. It's this combination of radiant heat that reflects at angles which provides a great cooking experience. That's actually a bit hard to find as more grills are black and black, through and through. So, I found this baby, ordered it, and put it together. Not to difficult. And, it isn't so big. But, man. Let me tell you that the difference is night and day from the struggles of a cheap round kettle pot that never would heat properly. I am loving this thing! While a bigger grill would have been nice, I didn't want to spend several more hundred on something I don't do as much. And, that I could take with me on trips if I wanted to. Well, the heating capability of this knocks through meat super fast, so space really isn't that much of a problem. Thank God for Masterbuilt and Modernist Cuisine. They've led me to my own promised land of great grilling! ... show more

  • Poor craftsmanship
Style: Grill with Cart
Bought this for camping because it was small compact and easy to transport. Worked great at first then quite literally started falling a part be prepared to go through and tighten and loctite every bolt and screw on this thing. Whoever is assembling them at master built is doing an awful job The fan no longer works after only one real season of use. Just a poor quality grill ... show more

  • Great portable smoker!
Style: Grill with Cart
Absolutely love this grill/smoker. So far I’ve done some brisket, as well as a couple spatchcock chickens. During my initial burn in I cranked the fan all the way to the max settings and filled up the basket as recommended in the manual for the initial burn off. I saw temps maxed out around 500-550, as advertised. The burn out took just under 2 hours and left the ash dump full. A few briquettes added onto a full hopper of charcoal got me just over 4 hours of cooking time at 275f steady. The ash dump was again filled to the top by the end, so expect to empty the ash dump on longer cooks. All of this was done using B&B competition charcoal briquettes and some oak chunks I had lying around. As for the battery life. I used a set of Eneloop rechargeable batteries and got about 5-6 hours of cooking time before I had to change them out. I’m VERY impressed! Masterbuilt really should have put the Gravity name on this grill, as it functions essentially in the same manner as it’s much bigger siblings. This is a missed opportunity and may confuse some others who might think this is only a grill…it’s not! I also expect this will get some decent aftermarket support in the form of upgraded grill grates, etc. TL;DR It works, it’s efficient, and you should get one if you’re in the market for a portable smoker and grill. ... show more

  • Can’t be beat for the price

Got this on a sale and ended up getting 3 more and giving them to friends. Great little grill, super portable, batteries last about 6 hour, grate can be easily swapped to a cast iron if wanted.
