Description

Using the My Leviton App, users can remotely view the status of the charging station and when it is ready to charge, in an active charging session or when a session has ended. Additionally, users can remotely schedule a charging session during off-peak utility hours, remote start/stop, and get notified if any fault occurs during a charging session to ensure better performance. In addition to viewing the EV Series, My Leviton app allows for control of the Leviton Smart Load Center and the Decora Smart™ Wi-Fi® product lines, letting users perform actions such as viewing real-time load center energy consumption and scheduling lighting scenes.

Easy to install, straightforward installation with no surprises. You will need a 40-50 amp circuit direct from the electrical panel. We used a Leviton 50 amp receptacle. You must use a 2 gang deep box to meet code and a weatherproof cover.

This is a really solid Level 2 EV Charger from Leviton. The product description and accompanying photos didn't immediately draw me in and don't accurately convey the quality of this product. I installed it at my office and it works great as a primary EV charger. In particular, it works great as part of a smart home (or in my case a 'smart office') set up. I have a number of Leviton brand lights at my office and the charger integrates with the 'myLeviton' app. Specific to the EV charger, it allows you to do the basics like start/stop charging remotely, schedule, log sessions, etc. Maybe you don't need to have your EV charger integrated with your office lights but the point is that Leviton is a company well versed in integrating products within a 'smart' home network. Automation notwithstanding, the charger offers the features and performance you'd expect from a Level 2 device at this price point. The exterior closure is water resistant and the cable is engineered to prevent freezing and cracking in cold weather. Mine is installed in a parking garage, so it never gets exposed to the elements but always good to know it can deal with rain, snow, etc. It has a NEMA 14-50 plug and Leviton even makes the necessary receptacles. If you aren't well versed in electrical projects, I'd get a professional to help you set it up. The device has some simple but functional on board indicator lights so you can see what is going on without needing to check your device. It can be mountede on a wall or free standing (I did a free standing mount) and can charge just about any vehicle you throw at it. My wife and colleagues have all charged their J1772 EVs and after you attach the appropriate adapter it does a great job charging up Teslas. Nothing fancy, just a solid unit that delivers a lot for the price point. Highly recommended! ... show more

Size: 40-Amp Style: NEMA 14-50 Plug-In without Receptable
This is a 40 amp, level 2 charger. It plugs in so if you have an existing 1450p plug, this should plug in no problem. That being said, it is important to make sure that the plug receptacle is rated for EV charging as EV chargers can put stress on an outlet because of the amount of power it pulls. I am constantly checking the plug to make sure it is securely seated and hasn't been bumped or pulled. If you do need a properly rated receptacle, Leviton makes receptacles supporting EV charging. If you have to install a plug for this, you will probably have to have an electrician install unless you do electrical. Although it's a 40 amp charger, the outlet needs a 50 amp breaker and wiring. The unit can connect to an app, and it is really easy to use. The charging cable is plenty long for my garage and the unit has fast charging times. The adapter is a pretty standard connector compatible with most vehicles outside of Tesla. All in all, this EV charger is excellent quality from a reputable company. ... show more

Leviton has been making some of the best home electrical equipment such as outlets, switches for a long time. More recently they took the lead in load centers and breakers with some brilliant new designs. I'm a huge fan and user of many of their products. This EV charger is as good as you would expect from Leviton. It's beautifully designed, works flawlessly, is smart, and fairly easy to install. You need a 14-50R receptacle to plug this into. This is the same receptacle type that most modern dryers use. In a pinch, you can get a 14-50 splitter to use this EV charger and a dryer from the same outlet, making it a good portable solution. Getting a dedicated circuit wired for this charger is of course the best permanent solution. ... show more

For those who have done a bit of research into EVs at all, Leviton is among the best brands available when it comes to providing quality and great features. This charger is great as it's compact, sleek, and water resistant, which makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation. The features for remote start/stop as well as scheduled charging were easy to use with the app and I had no issues charging at all. Exactly the kind of quality I'd expect from a good name brand like Leviton. There's a lot of brands of EV chargers I'm not familiar with. I'd recommend I brand you know for one of your most expensive belongings. This thing is great.

Finally got this Leviton EV40P Level 2 Smart Charger installed, and I'm blown away by how fast it charges my EV! It's a night and day difference compared to my old charger. The smart features are really impressive too - being able to control and monitor the charger through the My Leviton App is very convenient. I love that you can restrict access to the charger using the included RFID cards. The installation was straightforward, and the fact that it's rated for both indoor and outdoor use gives people a lot of flexibility. Overall, I'm really happy with this purchase. It's a well designed, powerful charger with smart features that make it a no-brainer to buy.
