  • Somehow, the Backup Is Better Than the Original (I Think)
I decided it was probably a good idea to keep a backup J1772 adapter in the car. I don’t use mine often, but if I ever lost it or broke it, that would be exactly when I’d find myself somewhere without a Tesla charger and need it. Rather than buying another one from Tesla, I ordered this Evwallbox adapter. I figured there was no chance it would match the quality of the original, and that was fine. It was a backup. As long as it fit properly and charged the car, I was good. Then I opened the box. It doesn’t match the quality of my Tesla adapter. Based on everything I can actually see, touch and test, I think it’s slightly better. Physically, the two are almost identical. Put them next to each other and you have to look pretty closely to tell them apart. The Evwallbox doesn’t have the Tesla label, obviously, and it has a small plastic tab extending from the bottom near the connector. I have no idea what that tab is for. It doesn’t interfere with anything. The housing feels extremely solid. The surface has a slightly finer, more finished texture than the original, and the contacts inside the connector openings actually look a little nicer to me. It also feels heavier in my hand, so I weighed both of them. My original Tesla adapter weighs 173 grams. The Evwallbox weighs 192 grams, so it’s 19 grams heavier. Does that extra 19 grams mean anything? I have no idea. Weight by itself doesn’t prove quality. I only mention it because I’ve handled enough lower-priced versions of things over the years to expect that to be where somebody figured out how to shave material out of it. That certainly isn’t what happened here. More importantly, I took it to a J1772 charging station and actually used it. The charging cable snapped into the adapter exactly as it should. The adapter slid into the charging port on my Tesla perfectly—smooth, easy, no forcing or fiddling—and the car charged normally. In actual use, I could not tell any difference between this and the original. The first time I removed it, the charging cable came away while the adapter stayed in the car. For a second I thought I had found the flaw. Then I realized one of my fingers had been pressing the release on the J1772 connector while I was pulling it out. I reconnected it, moved my hand, and everything came out normally. I can’t tell you whether the materials or internal construction are actually superior to Tesla’s because I’m not cutting either one open to find out. What I can say is that everything available to me—the fit, finish, weight, connector construction and actual charging performance—is at least as good as my original adapter, and in a few respects I prefer this one. I ordered it expecting a perfectly adequate backup. Instead, this is the one I’m more impressed with. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • J1772 to NACS adapter
Not sure what happened here. I ordered a J1772-NACS adapter for Level 1 & 2 charging, but now the product page is for a different product. Anyway, this is a noce, compact adapter that lets you charge your NACS equipped EC from a J1772 charger. This is handy because a lot of hotels & other places with EV chargers have a NACS & a J1772 charger, but if the NACS station is used, you will need an adapter. This one does not run hot when I charge 1t 11 kW. It is rated for 60 amps at 240 volts, but my EV will only charge at 48 amps max, so it's well below the rating. The connectors attache tightly & securely. Always need to have adapters on the road! ... show more

  • Feels Like OEM, Costs Less, and Works Exactly as It Should
TL;DR: If you need a J1772-to-Tesla (NACS) adapter but don't want to spend OEM prices, this is a great option. I've used it to charge both my 2024 Tesla Model 3 and 2026 Tesla Model Y Premium from my Level 2 home charger, and it has performed exactly like the Tesla adapter. It plugs in securely, charges normally, and I've experienced no overheating, strange smells, or other issues. First Impressions The first thing I noticed was how much it resembles the OEM Tesla adapter. While it isn't an original Tesla part, it feels well made and doesn't come across as a cheap knockoff. The fit is secure on both the charger and the vehicle. Real-World Performance I've used this adapter several times with my Level 2 home charger on both my 2024 Model 3 and 2026 Model Y Premium. Charging has been completely uneventful, which is exactly what you want. • No excessive heat • No burning smell • No smoke • No charging interruptions • Plugs in securely, just like the OEM adapter Honestly, if someone handed it to me without the packaging, I probably wouldn't know it wasn't the Tesla version. Specifications • Supports Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging • Rated for up to 60A / 250V • Compatible with Tesla Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y (NACS) • IP54 water-resistant rating for normal outdoor charging conditions Keep in mind: This is an AC charging adapter only. It is not designed for Tesla Superchargers or DC fast chargers. Who It's For I think this is a great choice for anyone who: • Wants an affordable backup adapter • Keeps a second adapter in another vehicle • Frequently charges at J1772 public stations • Wants to leave one adapter attached to a home charger for convenience Pros • Excellent value • Feels very similar to the OEM Tesla adapter • Secure fit • Works with Level 1 and Level 2 charging • No overheating or charging issues in my experience • Great spare to keep in another vehicle or at home Cons • Not an OEM Tesla accessory • Not compatible with DC fast charging or Tesla Superchargers Final Verdict I bought this mainly as an affordable spare, and so far it has exceeded my expectations. It works exactly like my original Tesla adapter, fits securely, and has given me zero issues charging both my 2024 Model 3 and 2026 Model Y Premium. If you're looking for a reliable backup or simply don't want to pay OEM prices, I think this is an easy recommendation. ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars ... show more

  • A must-have adapter for Tesla owners using J1772 charging stations
This J1772-to-Tesla (NACS) charging adapter is a compact and practical accessory that greatly expands your charging options. It allows you to use compatible Level 1 and Level 2 J1772 charging stations with your Tesla, making it a valuable addition to keep in the car for home, work, or public charging. What I liked: ✔️ Compatible with Tesla Model S, 3, X, and Y ✔️ Works with most Level 1 and Level 2 J1772 charging stations ✔️ Supports up to 60A and 250V for reliable charging ✔️ Compact, lightweight design stores easily in the vehicle ✔️ Durable construction with weather-resistant IP54 protection ✔️ Simple plug-and-play operation with no setup required Performance: The adapter connects securely between a J1772 charging connector and the Tesla charging port, providing a reliable charging experience. It's small enough to leave in the center console or charging bag, ensuring you're always prepared when a J1772 charger is available. Having this adapter significantly increases charging flexibility, especially when traveling or using workplace and public charging stations. Build Quality: The housing feels solid and well constructed, while the charging contacts fit securely and inspire confidence during use. The weather-resistant design is well suited for outdoor charging, and the lightweight construction makes it easy to carry without adding unnecessary bulk. Great for: Tesla Model S Tesla Model 3 Tesla Model X Tesla Model Y Home charging Workplace charging Public Level 1 and Level 2 charging stations Road trips and travel Things to know: This adapter is designed for J1772 AC Level 1 and Level 2 charging and is not intended for DC fast charging. • Solid Alternative to the OEM Tesla J1772 Adapter
This looks and works every bit as well as the OEM J1772 to Tesla adapter, though it is a bit heavier when you compare the two. The texture and finish are even and smooth and the metal contact points all look solid and clean. I was able to use it several times on public stations ranging from 30A to 40A. I used a Chargepoint at the mall and got 40A for two hours, and I also tried a ChargeLab station for a half hour at a Hampton Inn but that one only charged at 30A. I was not able to find a 48A charger around me to test with. Even after the two hour session the adapter did not get hot while charging at all. It locks right into place in my Model Y, and the J1772 clips on to it securely. It's really hard to find anything else to say about it because it is solid, well made, and maintained a steady charging speed without any interruptions or glitches. ... show more

  • Solid J1772-to-Tesla Adapter, Just Know Its Amp Limit
This does exactly what it says: it lets a Tesla plug into any standard J1772 charging station instead of being locked to NACS-only spots. Multiple owners report using it on Level 1 and Level 2 setups (home chargers, ChargePoint stations, and similar) with no overheating, no burning smell, and a secure, click-in connection that several people compared favorably to the OEM Tesla adapter. The waterproof rating held up for at least one reviewer who used it through heavy rain without issue. The one recurring caution worth flagging: it's rated for 60A, which is lower than some competing adapters that go up to 80A. For most home Level 2 setups (many of which run at 32-48A anyway) this isn't an issue, but if your charger regularly pushes higher current, or you live somewhere with consistently high ambient temperatures, it's worth checking your charger's actual output against that ceiling before relying on this daily. A couple of reviewers also noted the adapter doesn't have visible certification markings stamped on the housing, which made them a little more cautious about pushing it to its rated limit even though it performed fine for them in practice. It's also worth remembering this is AC charging only, not compatible with Superchargers or other DC fast charging. For anyone who just needs an affordable way to charge a Tesla from a J1772 station, or wants a backup adapter to keep in the car for visiting friends with different charging needs, this is a reasonable, well-reviewed option. If you need higher amperage for daily heavy use, it may be worth comparing against 80A alternatives first. ... show more

  • Easy-to-Use J1772 Adapter for Tesla Level 1 and Level 2 Charging
This is a really handy adapter to keep in the car, especially when you run into a J1772 charger instead of a Tesla/NACS connector. It feels solid and well made, and both ends fit securely without any looseness or having to fight with the connections. I like that it’s small enough to leave in my charging bag or center console, so it’s always there when I need it. It also works great for Level 1 and Level 2 charging, but just keep in mind that it’s not for DC fast charging or Superchargers. For the price, I think it’s a great value and backup to have and gives you a lot more flexibility when charging away from home. ... show more

  • Reviewing a Level 2 Adapter, not charger. Adapter works perfectly.
This review and the pictures may not match up with this product well because after ordering and using an ADAPTER, this listing in my order history now shows it is for a charger. I'm going to knock off two stars because that feels like bait and switch review fishing that may not apply to what you think you're buying. So please, read all the reviews before buying the charger. And I can't speak to connectivity or installation or value compared to other options available since I haven't tried the actual charger, only the NACS adapter. The adapter works great. I would love to try the charger because I'm currently just using the travel charger that came with my model Y. My model Y also came with an adapter like this one, but I didn't know that before I took delivery, so I ordered this one to make sure I could have plenty of charging options on the road. I typically charge at home using the OEM travel charger. But at work, we have J1772 chargers from a major brand. I sometimes need to charge at work if I'm going on a road trip after getting done for the day or if there happened to be a problem with charging at home. Even though my Y came with one, I went ahead and used this one instead to give it a test. It worked perfectly. This is a simple passive device and so it shouldn't cost much. It is easy to transport and store in the sub trunk or side pocket of my main trunk. For that reason, I should never be without one if I ever need to use a J1772 charger. Keep in mind that adapters like the one I got are only for level 2 charging. If you want to fast charge on something other than NACS, you will need a level 3 adapter until NACS is more widely available at the non T branded fast chargers. I'm using the T superchargers for now until there's wider deployment on the other brands. When that happens, EV driving is going to get even more economical due to competition. Everyone will be chasing customers through convenience and low margins. ... show more
