SUMMARY 3.5-stars--Works just as well as a nearly identical unit that I reviewed that cost more BACKGROUND This came up as a Vine suggestion and since I've reviewed other 40A chargers that were more expensive, I figured it would be interesting to see how well one that was cheaper compared to them. INITIAL OBSERVATIONS Manufacturing quality seems comparable to the other more expensive units that I've reviewed. COMPLAINTS / ISSUES The unit should have be designed so that you could hard wire it to your circuit panel and if you did that, it should have allowed a 48A supply. Since I've seen 50A relays in units that were only specified as being for 16A, I suspect that this unit could support the full 48A if the square wave generator was sending the right signal to the vehicle to tell it that 48A was available. IMPRESSIONS For my first test, I compared it to the 40A charger that I'm currently using for my wife's EV. Charge rate was similar and unlike another unit that I had previously reviewed, the unit did NOT leave 240V on the charger cord after the car told it that charging was complete. It seemed perfectly acceptable in this test. Other than the name that is on the faceplate, it looks exactly like another 40A charger that I recently reviewed. It *supposedly* had an app that could control it, but it required you to download the app from what I considered to be a questionable source instead of from the Google PlayStore. Since I saw no need for an app anyway, I just used that charger without the app. That product also included an adapter going from NEMA 14-50 to 5-15, but I did not need that either. As such, given how I use an EV charger, this was the same as the other one since I was not using the extra capabilities of the other one. CONCLUSION: Since there wasn't really anything that set this unit apart from the nearly identical (but more expensive) ASIN:B0F21KGMZ6 unit and since I rated it at 3.5-stars (i.e. "slightly above average"), I'm going to rate this the same. A very well priced and practical mobile connector for your EV. You will need a NEMA 14-50 receptacle to use this mobile connector. Note this has a J1172 connector but you can use a J1772 to NACS adapter with it for NACS charging ports. The charging speed is the standout feature—it's legitimately up to 8x faster than a standard 120V outlet. I typically add 30-40 miles of range per hour depending on how I set the amps, which means overnight charging gets me from low 20% to full easily. No more waking up to a barely charged car after forgetting to plug in early. The adjustable current from 8A to 40A via the 2.4-inch LCD display is super handy, especially since my home circuit is on a 50A breaker—I dial it down to lower amps during peak hours and crank it to 40A when I need max speed. Setting the delay timer to start during the night is helpful so as to not overload my electrical panel with the AC, electric water heater and other electric appliance running at the same time. The 20-foot cord gives plenty of reach—I can park in different spots in my garage without hassle, and the J1772 connector snaps securely into place with all the usual safety clicks and locks. Build quality feels solid. The unit is IP65-rated so it can be used outdoors in uncovered parking spaces but I use it inside my garage. The LCD screen is bright and clear, showing current amps, voltage, timer status, and charging progress. Easy to use and works well. Comes with a carrying case so it is compact and portable too. Overall a very well priced mobile connector for fast Level 2 EV charging.

I got this charger to use with a 240V outlet in my garage, and it has been working great so far. My main goal was to have something faster than the standard Level 1 charger, and this made a big difference in daily charging time. Setup was very straightforward. I already had a NEMA 14-50 outlet, so it was basically plug and play. Once connected, it started charging right away without any complicated configuration. The unit feels solid and well built, with a thick cable and sturdy connector. Charging speed is a big upgrade compared to a regular wall outlet. I can plug the car in at night and have it ready by morning without any concerns. The cable length is also very practical, it reaches comfortably from the outlet to the car without having to park in a very precise position. The display is simple but useful. It shows charging status and current, and the adjustable amperage is a nice feature if you’re using different circuits. It doesn’t have a lot of smart features, but for me that’s not a problem since most scheduling is handled directly from the car. Overall, this is a straightforward, reliable Level 2 charger that does exactly what it’s supposed to do. If you want a faster home charging setup without paying premium prices, this is a very solid option.
