    • good level 1 charger, but investigate if your outlet is compatible for level 2
I'm no expert as a first-time EV buyer, I'm pretty new to the game. Chevy included a charger with my Bolt EUV and at 120V/15a it charges 4 mph taking 65 hours to fully charge my car to 260 miles of charge. This charger does roughly the same at level 1 charging, so I'll keep using the OEM charger and this will go in my trunk for when I need it on trips to recharge, such as when visiting my sister over a long weekend. That's convenient not to need to remove my Chevy charger from the wall because I have the cord strapped on the wall. They also conveniently included a carrying bag for this charger and cord and it actually easily fits into the zippered bag! Perfect to stick in my trunk for when I need it. As for level 2 charging, this thing has a 240V/20a plug by default (one vertical and one horizontal with round ground), which does not exist in my house and I'm not sure exists in many houses so I can't attest as to the faster charging capability of this charger. You can buy adapters but consult with an electrician. I paid nearly $3000 to run huge wires from my house electric service panel 50 amp breaker into my garage and put in a 240V 50 amp outlet. With that outlet and Chevy charger I can fully charge my Bolt EUV in 6.5 hours at 40 mph from 0 to 260 miles. The comparable 240V 50a charger selling on Amazon goes for $280 and up. So if you need quick charging better to shop around or research more on adapting this one with the exact outlet you'll need for level 2 charging. Otherwise if you're fine with level 1 slow charging taking many hours or days, this charger is just fine and sells at a good price. ... show more

Before you buy, make sure your outlet is grounded. It will not work without it. Only used it for a few days on my Prius Prime and it’s working as expected.

    • A nice portable charger
We use this as the backup charger at home, and bring it on the road when we go on trips. I have a level 2 charger installed, but more often than not my wife has her Tesla plugged in to it. She drives a lot more than I do, so she needs the faster charging to top off daily. I have a short commute relative to hers, and this is the perfect charger for me to top off my i3. On 110v, it only takes a couple of hours to get my battery back to full. It is also great for "on the go", as it'll allow you to plug in just about anywhere to many different outlets. We bring ours along on road trips, especially when we're visiting family since they don't have chargers at their homes. It stores nicely in the included bag, and tucks away easily in the frunk so it's always with us. We do use it on the Tesla, but to do so you will of course need an adapter, as the plug on this one is J1772. ... show more

This is a solid well built product. It can be used as a level 1 charger with the included adapter or as lower amp level 2 charger. It is an inexpensive solution to get a slower level 2 charging rate. We have a different level 2 higher amp charger, so this one is being used with our second EV which gets driven less mileage daily and only needs a slower charger. ... show more

I like this 16 amp EVSE charge cord for my 3.3 amp car charger. I can leave it at our kids place, making charging our plug in car easy when we are babysitting for them. We can use their 20 garage plug outlet and not need a special outlet installed unless we want to wire up a 20 amp 240 plug to cut recharge time in half. This cord will recharge faster than the 12 amp 120 volt cord Toyota supplied with our Prime, 9 hours instead of 12. I see some misinformation on other reviews. Looking at my photos, the double outlet is a 120 v 20 amp outlet, which is fine for level 1 16 amp charging. If your 120 v outlet does not look like this you are probably overloading a 120 v 15 amp outlet. The photo of the single outlet is a 240 v 20 amp outlet which will allow level 2 charging, twice as fast as level 1. This came be easily wired with 12 gauge duplex wire. If you don’t understand this, you should hire a electrician to set up your charging outlet. If you have a bigger black 3 or 4 prong outlet, you can probably install a higher amperage charging EVSE. ... show more
